  1. I love the chimney! Great idea. The scale of that looks perfect. I always make mine smaller and it isn't as imposing, but yours is very fitting. What is that giant drink container from?
  2. Nice mod! I think the blue does look appropriate, but I do like that green color too. Since I don't have a SHIELD set-up I probably won't worry about it, but I can understand why you made your changes. Keep up the good work.
  3. I don't think everything that is successful will continue on forever until it isn't successful. It is good marketing sense to go out on top with a theme instead of riding it down and people getting sick of it. That way you can introduce new themes the following year with a positive history of success in related themes. I think they plan on short waves with some themes to make room for other sets. Otherwise they would only have a few themes with a lot of sets which would get stale pretty quickly.
  4. This list sounds promising. I can't wait to see the variants.
  5. I think everyone has too many minifigures; however, in 2013 I will be accumulating many more minifigures, so I don't see myself parting with mine anytime soon (although I probably should). I commented earlier with my plans, but I definitely want to build more and buy less. So far 3 weeks into the new year and I have only made a few small purchases. And I've built a Winter Village set. So far, so good.
  6. I just went to the Dollar Tree store thanks to ACPin. They had a whole bunch of those containers plus many others that could be good for storage. I ultimately decided not to buy any, but I had some in my hand ready to go. They do seem pretty decent and probably will hold quite a bit. I am sure I will look into Dollar Tree again when I need to finalize my storage solutions. I definitely want storage dividers in drawers. I think that is the best idea. I Just need to find some good sized dividers.
  7. I'm torn on those prototype figures. The crocs do look terrible. The eagle looks interesting overall. I do think I prefer how they went with masks instead of replacement modified head pieces (like the minotaur). I don't mind those, but the heads seem to work better for minifigures. However, those gorillas I am all for. Hopefully the official gorillas will be decent looking. I hope to collect an army of them (even though I don't care about the theme as a whole. The minifigures do look neat though).
  8. To further add, I may actually build a set up with this and make a full scaled Hobbiton only without minifigures. That way, I could display more in smaller space. We'll see if I ever get around to it. Great build though. Seriously. Keep it up.
  9. I also let my 3 year old play with them. I can only imagine the many people who cringe at the thought of that. She usually does okay by not breaking it apart. But I think any building for her would be playable, so I'm not necessarily looking at these sets for playability. I'm looking at them for a beautiful exterior finish. In reality, the interiors would be completely empty (like CC) and I wouldn't notice. Meaning, the interiors now look great! The cinema with the red carpeted floor, the concession stand. I actually really like the seating design. I will probably mod the building like a lot of others, but then again, I'll probably be lazy and never touch it. Either way, the set looks beautiful. I do wish there was some more enthusiasm in that video though. She didn't seem too interested in it for whatever reason.
  10. It's always interesting to read more about fellow members in the SW community. Thanks for obtaining and sitting for this interview. Very informative. Hopefully you will gain more time to build more, or at least review more since you're not a huge MOCer. Thanks for the tips on capturing images. I will try to put those to use if I ever get around to doing a review.
  11. They finally reached TRU here in Nebraska. But I bet we are still a few weeks out from hitting the rest of the stores in the area. I haven't made my way to TRU yet, so I'm sure they are all picked clean by now. I'll just have to wait for Target in a few weeks. Pretty typical release schedule here.
  12. Very interesting build. I would agree about the early comments on too many colors, but I can see you've altered that quite a bit. The end outcome is looking good. It is very large scale, so I hope to see an army/royal family fill these halls soon. TLG sure has released a lot of shield variants.
  13. I was also hoping for a "mini" sized bag end. With that said, I may have to try my hand at it myself then. However, your build is creative and well done. This may be considered "midi?" scale.. Either way, very nicely done. I am a fan. And I'm sure not every Hobbit on Bag End has a large house like Bilbo, so this is very fitting. Keep up the good work! I will check back and probably steal, borrow some ideas.
  14. Well, I am definitely hoping those are the correct piece counts and prices. There are so many sets coming out already I'd hate to think they would overprice themselves out of buyers (especially for the target audience). The final battle can easily be a smaller set. As stated above, so I won't mention it again. But those prices are great (if they are correct). I'd love to only have to pay that amount. And I think TLG is doing a great job with the $19.99 sets. Those have been my favorite so far. I'll be interested to see prices for Superman sets too then. I'd love to be able to afford them all.
  15. Neat build. I like the snow melting on the roof. I also like the radiator of course. How similar is that to the one in the Green Grocer? Good luck with your entry!
  16. Another fantastic build! There are too many great entries in this contest. Where to begin... The shape is great. The story you are telling fits well with the theme. The interior detailing hits the spot. The carriage is superb. I've been meaning to try one myself. I also like the shops that were once a house with some neat architecture. There is a little town outside Bloomington, IN (where I went to school) that is basically all shop-house lined streets. Good luck in the contest, not like you'll need it.
  17. You've done it again! Why am I always impressed with your builds?! (maybe because they are superb) I really like the overall shape of the building. It fits really well with the rest of the line. My most favorite part is the main level window out front. I love the shape and style. I may have to "borrow" that sometime for a build. The interior is very fitting and everything looks great. The newspaper rack is a nice touch. This is what I get for not submitting my entry yet. I was planning on doing a cafe originally, but I don't think I can compete with this, so I'll have to change my layout a bit and make it something else!
  18. This actually looks really good. Frown face... I was hoping to win Great little build. I think you have a good shot at winning that category. However, I don't think they should eliminate those sure-fire ways of failure. Isn't that what made them so great?
  19. That Town Hall looks very fitting. I like how you made the pillars. Good part usage. The clock makes sense too with the scale. I may have to follow suit and do the same. Keep up the good work.
  20. Spot on! Brilliant work. But where is the rest of the posse?
  21. I would love an official Nightcrawler and Beast. Those look great though. Keep up the great work.
  22. It is a tough call on waiting. I almost bought Poison Ivy from the Batcave for $18, but then couldn't bring myself to do it. And now she is being re-released in the Arkham set which I will be getting so now I won't have multiples of her. With that said, it is very possible for them to re-release any figure. I was surprised they re-released Ivy so soon anyway, so you may have to wait a little, but Scarecrow may come again in the future. If not, the prices probably won't be as inflated a year from now (since it is a brand new set and people are trying to recoup their investment). It won't hurt too much to wait I wouldn't think. But only you can be the judge on that. I randomly purchased a Comic Con figure recently which I had no intention on spending that much money originally...so stranger things have happened.
  23. That is good to know the final numbers. I had a long spiel of how I was upset it was so small for that price tag, but when looking at brickset on the previous modulars it is actually about the same size, so I'm not as upset now. I knew the Pet Shop was smaller, but I thought this was smaller than that. I thought wrong. Otherwise, the set itself looks great and I can't wait to pick one up.
  24. Follows Closely - That is an awesome set-up. I plan on doing something like that eventually. I have the wall space, but I need the drawers and have been looking at these for a while. Otherwise my LEGO room will look similar, only I'll have more shelves for display and a build table or two for MOCs. I've just been using smaller cardboard boxes I get from work and smaller Amazon orders. They work pretty well, but it isn't as neat looking as all of those see through drawers. I figure reuse what I can and recycle the rest.
  25. Thanks for the review! The set itself looks okay, but not too pleased with the price, as most people. I will definitely wait for a sale since the keeper and Rancor go for over $40-50 by themselves and the set is $60 here.
