  1. This is great. I love the overall structure and the details throughout. I was thinking of doing a school at one time, but then I thought I don't want to think of school when I'm on winter break! Keep up the great work. Good luck in the contest! Yours will make a fine addition.
  2. I am very impressed. I was not expecting that. This looks superb. I would be proud of that creation. I didn't even consider trying this out myself. Now you have me interested in doing this. Keep up the great work!
  3. Recently I had some set that I was looking at and my daughter asked to see it. I didn't want her to break it so I said not right now. She then told me, but my hands are clean! I've never made that stipulation before, so it's funny that she thought it was important. But I agree, clean hands always helps a lot.
  4. So if adults are having problems with these, I wonder how kids are getting along with them. I don't own any, but have considered picking up a few for my daughter to play with. She liked the spinjitsu stuff. But I don't think she'd be able to keep them straight if it is that difficult.
  5. That fur is awesome, although unfortunately TLG will never produce that (I would assume). However, your custom figure is amazing. I love the detailing and you captured the source material perfectly. Keep up the great work!
  6. I think speculating is fine, although a bit silly at times. I can say anything I want about anything with no proof, and it is all speculation. But in my experience LOTR is selling well for the most part. I rarely see any sets available. They were cleaned out around here for most of the year until a large shipment of Shelob Attacks and Gandalf Arrives came in and those sat on the shelves for a while. As far as Hobbit is concerned, it helps it came out right before the holiday season so that will guarantee great sales. However, I will agree An Unexpected Gathering set sealed it for them. If they can continue sets like that, I think the theme will sell just fine. I'd be willing to buy multiples of that set actually because of the great color scheme and the adorable build. I'd love to build more of Hobbiton with that. Uruk Hai Army was the only LOTR set worth buying multiples of and even then I didn't care to buy too many. I am more familiar with the characters from LOTR since I've watched the movies countless times, but I think I like the Hobbit sets more overall. Funny how that works. Either way I'm glad to have this theme exist!
  7. Last night I finally got my hands on some CMF 9. I only could find the Cyclops, but he is way better in person than I expected. I may end up picking up a few more, which I didn't plan on doing! And I found a fortune teller. She will be a great gypsy addition to my settings. I was surprised I found any since they are distributed far less than expected. No knights in sight though! And I found a mermaid, just to bring about some more aquatic mythicism.
  8. I like the play value here. I'm not one for play scenes, but I could picture myself as a kid wanting to play with a set like this. It brings a lot to the Forestmen idea. Keep up the great work!
  9. This is a great build! It would fit right in. It is similar enough, yet so different. Great job! I almost want to copy this idea and build it myself, although I may try to create my own building. Either way, keep up the great work!
  10. That would be a shame regarding the eagle's claws if they were structured to not open. Even the new Rancor had opposable hands to pick up things and the eagle definitely would need that. It is interesting they came out with Fierce Flyer the same year as these other sets. I don't love the head, but the rest seems pretty decent. I haven't built my copy yet though so that's only from pictures. I think a molded eagle would be preferable in that sense, but I agree that something should be done about the feet/claws.
  11. Some people don't mind mixing them. I think it looks off only because yellow is such an extreme color compared to the licensed skin tone. There are so many great torsos in both yellow and licensed skin tone that it is a shame to not be able to mix them. I love a lot of the newer torsos that don't have any skin tone on them so you can switch as you needed. And I agree about the clone wars eyes. However, they are hitting the source material spot on.
  12. I think printing the boobs on the lego minifigure makes perfect sense from a production standpoint. If TLG really was against boobs, they wouldn't even allow printing and they probably would not have created the original variation of the head. Everything could still be the standard smiley with blank torsos, or at least no signs of female silhouettes. Boobs exist everywhere yes, including toys. I don't see the problem with having them. But I also don't see the need to have them either. At least, not on a minifigure.
  13. Last night I went to TRU only because they had the free Chima polybag with purchases over $20. I just wanted to see how the Chima figures were without buying a set (although a speedor may be tempting for my daughter). They are kind of neat, although I think Leonidas may be my least favorite lion, so good thing he was free I guess. Anyway, I bought the Arctic Batman set since it was just above the threshold for a free Chima figure and rummaged through the series 9 CMFs since they are the only place in town that has any. I picked up the Cyclops, Fortune Teller, Mermaid, Jekyll/Hyde figure, and Chicken Suit Guy. Those were mostly for my daughter, but I may end up rebuying them all for myself.
  14. I don't buy anything in secret. We try to budget our monies, so I try to keep her abreast of the situation if there is a set I want and I would like to think she keeps me abreast of her purchases. However, there are some good deals to be had so you can't always pass them up. I think the only time I bought anything in secret I ended up telling her about it anyway -- just random orders from eBay/bricklink.
  15. Some mistakes aren't always on purpose. They had certain source material to follow (from my understanding) and that material changed but TLG was too far into production. Makes perfect sense. It is very possible they will release an Azog figure next year meaning we get Azog and Yazneg instead of just Azog. Either way, I welcome new orcs into my collection. I'm quite pleased with the minifigures so far from LOTR and Hobbit, although I do wish to have fewer multiples of main characters, which won't ever change since each set needs to be a play set for the children.
  16. How else do you think they can sell future sets then? By including the other band members that people are wanting. If you put everything into one set that people will buy then you can't guarantee future sales. But if you include a figure that people want, people will buy that set and then buy the future sets too. It makes good business sense, but not great fan sense.
  17. Him not having his rings isn't going to make me buy it. I really do not care about the rings, even if they do play a huge role in the movie/comics. A LEGO minifigure with 10 rings wouldn't work. I'm glad they made the LOTR ring, but outside of having Frodo carry one, I don't have a purpose for it. And I think I have at least 5 or more now that just sit there. I guess I could almost complete the Mandarin's jewelry collection soon. And at the very least I do hope TLG has an exclusive figure like the Hulk last year. It guarantees TLG my money and I get yet another awesome figure for my collection. The question becomes, do I want to buy the winter wave sets when the minifigure is released (if there is one) or do I just go ahead and wait to buy the Iron Man sets then too. hmm, decisions..
  18. Don't quote me, but it happened in March of last year, so I would assume March again this year?
  19. Actually I didn't answer the last question originally, but was forced to otherwise. I don't care to own any of the golden figures as of right now. Depending on what it actually looks like is different. If it is simply a regular figure all in gold, then I won't care about it. if it is one of the regular figures, only in gold, then it may change my mind depending on how it looked. I don't plan on ebaying/bricklinking a golden figure, but if I come across it in my searches, then it may be a different story. Or I may end up selling it to recoup some cost.
  20. I like seeing those figures, but am also disappointed about the Orcs. I like having multiple orcs and normally it wouldn't matter if they are the same, but at least ONE new print would make sense. And I agree about the armor being all wrong. It'd be nice for some new armor because then it wouldn't matter about the print as much, but with this big bulky armor, it isn't very accurate. The corsair is really neat. I think they did a great job with the soldiers/king of the dead. I don't mind if it isn't GITD at all, although that would be a neat feature. And like the zombies in MF they may include some GITD printing on the figure for "play value." As important as the figures are, it is too bad we get yet another Gimli, Aragorn, and Legolas. So that makes number 4 Gimli and 3 Aragorn? Gimli's torso works okay for a different army if you're into that, but not much else to do with Aragorn.
  21. I would think they are doing it for reaching series 10 and that being the "golden" series, they are incorporating a golden figure. I would think it seems odd to do, but it gives some people the idea they have to buy more to hopefully get this gold figure. The problem is someone buying it randomly wanting one of the other figures and end up with a gold version that they can't use or don't want and then have to find another regular version. I'm sure it will be rarer than one per box though. Which then will escalate the price in the aftermarket of course. I don't care to own one from this initial news.
  22. I like that older Lion king. I would definitely want to pick him up somehow. I can't wait to see pictures of the other tribes.
  23. Sorry to bring it up. I agree. I wasn't attacking her as an individual or her language skills. She did a great job presenting it. It just didn't have the enthusiasm as her first video. She even makes mention that it was a team effort and she gave the final say over, so maybe she wasn't as hands on with this as the Town Hall. Either way, she did a fine job. I will be getting the set with/without a designer video. I didn't think about a ladder out the back. That would work well. I may copy something similar to Green Grocer, only not as elaborate. One thing I do like about this and the GE, it goes all the way back to the corner of the baseplate instead of leaving a gap in the back. That's why I am modding the CC to allow more room for stairs and whatnot.
  24. Very interesting. I can say it looks significantly better than simply a WIP picture. I think the stairs scream SW. I love the base of the planet display. It is rather weird for me to see so many yellow skinned SW figures since I've only known them as licensed skin tone. I never considered adding a brown hood to Hagrid. I think I may do that now. Keep up the good work. Good luck in the contest!
  25. That's a really neat MOC. I like the scale and the whole set-up. It is very fitting for those Hobbitses. I considered doing something similar, but on an even smaller scale, just so I can incorporate more into it. Plus, I'm really into mini-building anymore. But I love how you did yours. I can't wait to see more. Keep up the great work.
