  1. I love that Superman set and I'm not a Superman fan if that says anything. I think the figures look great, and being a minifigure enthusiast I can't wait to pick this up. I even love the car. It has some really useful parts for some of my car MOC ideas, so I can't wait to get at least one (and find the car pieces elsewhere). Zod looks great, at least from what I can tell. I don't know much about the character though. Superman's new suit is neat and I love the laser eyes. Just as I love the colored eyes on the new Iron Man mask. Kudos TLG. Thanks for the picture. Now I can't wait for the others!
  2. Jahab - I would suggest Fire Brigade. It was my first Modular (and I've since bought them all), but it is also my favorite Modular. They captured the essence of what I would suspect a fire hall to be like. As much as I love Batman (and I want Arkham also), I think you may be happier with the overall build of a Modular. I just recently got into Star Wars so I don't know much about Artoo, but I think he looks neat and would be a great display piece. I just don't have use for him at this time. And I haven't built the Haunted House yet, so I can't attest to that, but it looks really neat. I think I may dive into that this weekend. But I do know the Fire Brigade was a very satisfying build and display piece. tomdobs55 - I would again highly recommend the Modular series, so the Pet Shop is a fun building. I like how it is a 16 wide instead of the full scale, although I haven't built the apartment building yet. I do really like the Pet Shop individual building though. It should stick around for a while. Do you have the Grand Emporium? That one is nearer to retirement and as monotonous as the top two floors are, it is actually a great looking set. Robie House is neat and a great parts pack, but I'm always hesitant spending that kind of money on parting something out. But, if you have a MOC idea that would require those pieces, you may want to look into Bricklink/Pick-a-brick if they have the pieces for less than what the set would retail at? Just an idea.
  3. I also thought about modding Daily Bugle into a full size modular. It does give a good starting point to work with though.
  4. Thanks for the comments everyone. That is one downfall of using sand green. I didn't have a lot of options to fill some of those gaps. I had to disassemble my Ollivander's and raid my Haunted House set to get the right size bricks. I knew there would be gaps, but they weren't as apparent until I had a photo taken with a white background . I thought the sand green would look nice next to the other colorful buildings, so that's why I chose that color. This was my first winter village building, but certainly not my last. I already have ideas for next year, I just need the appropriate colors now. Thanks for looking!
  5. I think that 'Til death is the best photo I've seen in a long time. Everyone has some great pictures here. But that one really stands out for some reason. Everyone, keep up the great work!
  6. With 5000 total, the rarity almost makes it laughable. Most people won't seem to care about it only because it will be so rare and pointless. There will be completionists out there that will get upset over it and pay through the teeth for one. I'm like most others, if I get one, I get one to sell.
  7. It doesn't matter which version it is. It's a variant that I am happy to get! I think it looks great. The chin thing doesn't bother me in the pictures, but when I have it in hand it may be a different story (same goes for the people who think it is ugly in the picture, maybe they'll love it once they hold it). I'm most excited for these sets over the Superman sets, even though I'm a DC fan mostly. Funny how that works.
  8. I'm a sucker for vintage inspired cars. I built my first car MOC for the winter village contest. I haven't seen too many other older style cars in LEGO form, so these are a welcome sight. I really like the ideas used here. Typically I prefer a glass windscreen, but I like the idea with the droid arms in the first car. I may have to borrow some of these ideas sometime. My city needs more vintage cars, that's for sure.
  9. Maybe it would be the most functional inn/tavern ever? People can enjoy their stay whilst working on weaponry..
  10. I never ordered from S@H until early last year when I joined VIP, so I don't know if it is guaranteed March/October of every year, but did just see in the Palace Cinema board that it will be double points in March again, so it would be safe to assume it will happen in October again also. I would be more inclined to say it is tougher to guess when they will have figures/sets to give away on purchases over a certain price.
  11. This is an impressive build. Naturally the shape catches the eye since it isn't done as often. You did an outstanding job capturing the appropriate shape. I really like the grill bricks to add texture. I hadn't considered doing that to that degree, but it works. And it helps with the tan coloring to not feel so drab. I really like the tower roof, but I agree about coloring. I think this looks good, but another color may look better. But I can understand the money issue. Keep up the amazing work. I always look to your builds for inspiration for my own MOCs.
  12. So I've only been following this briefly. I know it has been confirmed now, but since I don't have television, I still don't know how it is pronounced. I assume chee-ma not ky-ma, but I can't help but say ky-ma when I see it. Thanks for the input.
  13. I'm glad I got mine when I did then. Granted, I'm not in the mood for Halloween during January, so I got mine around Halloween. There are all of the other MF sets around here for sale, but no signs of that zombie set (which isn't surprising). I don't know how much longer the rest of the sets will be around. Most were clearance prices around Christmas from what I could tell. Pick them up while you still can.
  14. I built most of this over my Christmas vacation, but I never got around to finalizing it. And I finally took pictures tonight. My wife got a new camera for Christmas, so needless to say I have no idea how to work it. Enjoy! I figured any Winter Village could use a place to fill up their vehicles. Plus, it offers a nice little convenience store. I apologize for the lighting on the first picture. But here is an overall view of the scene. Shows a pump, a vintage car, and a similarly styled building. A better lit frontal view showing some icicles and lovely winter wreaths. Here is a close-up of the gas pump. A nice interior shot. Here I am buying a pretzel for my daughter. The owner's kitty is upstairs in his living quarters. And you can see the light brick. "Sure son, you can borrow the car. Just bring it back with a full tank." Keep in mind, I've never really built a car before. I thought this would fit in with the Postal carrier though. You can take a look at my flickr account to get more interior shots and the rest of the exterior including the full line-up of people. I had lots of fun building this. Good luck to everyone. Comments more than welcome.
  15. I built this little scene last night showcasing where I think the future of Star Wars lies. I read that George Lucas originally wanted the cast to be in the next movies "if they were old enough." Episode VII was set 30 years into the future (which amazingly enough is really close to when the real Episode VII will come out). So, you can tell me, are they old enough? Luke visits the home of Han and Leia after some time apart. "Thanks for the tea honey, but I think someone may be at the door." Here is without the figures to showcase their furniture and some beautiful Endorian plants. And everyone involved. And a closer-up of the main three. I especially like Luke's wooden lightsaber cane. I hope everyone likes my rendition of the future. With Harrison Ford (70), Carrie Fisher (56) and Mark Hamill (61), I don't think I'm too far off. Enjoy and comments welcome!
  16. That seems like a really short life span. Diagon Alley had 2 years (including time spent after the line ended). MMV obviously had more time, and that was long after their line ended. So I can't imagine they are choosing to end this because Kingdoms is no longer around and a new castle theme will coming out since they already did that with MMV/Kingdoms. Hopefully it will be around longer. Although, it was for sale on Amazon for $90, but I still didn't pick one up. I wanted it so badly when it was first announced, but I don't think I can afford it now. Too many other sets to pick up. And since most of the figures are repeats, it isn't a much needed set.
  17. This is a great build! I love it. I may want to build this myself sometime. I do agree, black vehicle with a white suit seems weird. I guess I like things to coordinate better. However, I would assume Batman's snow vehicle would have treads instead of just wheels. Either way, I love it! Keep up the great work!
  18. I have a large inventory of prices that have cracks, quite a few straight from the box. Since I don't build every set I buy I don't always notice right away. With that said, the downfall is I can't always ask TLG for replacement parts since I don't know which set they came from. The downside is I have asked for replacement parts multiple times and they question a lot. I know they don't want their service to be taken advantage of, but I'm one of the most honest people you'll meet. So I've basically just accepted that I have tons of ruined bricks. They don't have the clutch power anymore, but they can sometimes work.
  19. I love the raised baseplate. Granted, one could simply build a hilltop and a pathway and it would probably look better, but I do like the ability to have that built already and just deal with the bricks. I only have 4 (2 castle, 2 pirates), but I do like them. I should consider using them for something other than their original purpose. But those sets were just so great why would I want to destroy them... Although, I've never actually looked at prices regarding those because I never thought about buying any baseplates other than what I have in sets.
  20. As many people who are upset about multiple Batmans, he is the main person I would want to collect. Having multiple of him is the only way I can get his rogue gallery. I do want a lot of other main characters too. I like these little variations too. but I like collecting minifigures.
  21. Very nicely done. I can see the likeness. I need to figure out hot to make a mosaic. I'd love to do a few of my own.
  22. Definitely rotate the picture so it would be better for us to see this wonderful MOC. Although would the Elves really hurt the poor Cyclopses...I picture them being a gentle, but misunderstood folk. I must be the only one
  23. This is a really neat set-up. Keep up the good work. I'd love to see more! I love seeing a good western themed MOC/story.
  24. I do like that Clark Kent figure, so I will ultimately get it. I don't plan on buying it right away like I did with Elrond though. But we'll see what prices are like and availability.
  25. This is brilliant. I love the mods. I thought about modding the official set eventually. I don't think I'll copy this, but I may borrow a few ideas from this. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the official set plus this mod in the end.
