They have not, correct. That's not an apt comparison.

Did you really come into an unpopular opinion thread to argue against an unpopular opinion? (I've probably done it too, to be fair) "What's wrong with it" is that it comes at the expense of Classic Themes. Because it's in the license agreements. Disney isn't going to allow competing space ship sets while Lego has the license for Star Wars. That's just how it works.

I.e. only Jeff Goldbloom minifigs. 😁

Holy crap, it really is as bad as I've been saying! 🤣 This guy is my hero! One of the guys that made The Lego Movie basically did the same thing, according to an interview that I can't bother to find right now. His childhood Space sets were actually in the movie. -

I really like the little brown trooper figs, especially the helmets. When I first saw the troopers in the Lightyear trailer, I immediately thought of the Guges power suit from the Appleseed manga/anime: -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Hot damn! That is a perfect set with a perfect canopy for Classic Space fans. I'm getting strong Galaxy Squad vibes from the spaceship. The logos are similar. My thoughts exactly on the shaping of the windscreen. That's getting some definite re-use. I really want to guess that we're going to get an official Ice Planet throwback Creator set. Same! This is probably going to shut me up as an angry Classic Space fan for at least a little while. The parts and set design are really Classic Space to a tee. Yes, those new nozzle pieces were the other thing that jumped out at me. They look great! You're right about the canopy. I'm also surprised (pleasantly) that they used trans yellow and not orange or just trans black, and that it has no stickers or printing. -
Well, I think that's what they should have done, even if it meant having a cheaper castle set. Even still, I don't think there's anything Lego fans won't buy, no matter how expensive. I think they could easily sell all three, this year, even if one is a $350 castle.
-
Would it be dumb to hold out hope that the last few Creator sets listed that haven't been leaked might be more 90th anniversary sets? 10304 and 10306 are still unknowns right? How cool would it be if those were Space and Bionicle sets? I think the timeline we're in is too dark for that to be the case, but the idea is good for a few daydreams until we know for sure.

Good god, really? Who can honestly do this? Like, just go watch the Cosby show and enjoy it, knowing what we know now? I don't think anyone can honestly separate a person from their work. The people suggesting we do so would probably be the first to boycott an entire body of work if the creator did something they disagreed with. But it doesn't matter to me, so if you don't shut up about it, that makes me the victim. (I'm being very sarcastic, obviously).

Is it weird that I kinda want a plain Delorean more than a BTTF Delorean? Although I'd want that in Speed Champions 8-wide scale. Still in for this BTTF set though.

Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion

How am I just now seeing this? I'm down for an Optimus Prime if it's G1 style. As for Hasbro possibilities...buildable Snake Eyes? :) -
Well, I've already got the Blacksmith set and two Creator Castles. Not sure I have an appetite for even more castle so soon, especially at that scale. Meanwhile...still no Space creator set. I guess this puts the nail in the coffin for Space.

That car shared many posters with the Countach on teenagers' bedroom walls when I was growing up! So I finally found all of these in stores. Found all of them at Walmart, and all but the Countach at Barnes & Noble. So the Countach that's two places I've witnessed the Countach sell out.

Truly amazing! I wish Lego made sets like this!

Also, if it's between Castle and Space, there have been two very nice Castle sets still available at the Lego website, the Blacksmith Shop and the recent Creator Castle. If it's between Bionicle and Space, well, Bionicle had a full theme when Benny's Spaceship was out, so I'm gonna call that a tie. I'm not going to count the two small sets from The Lego Movie 2 as anything; those were insubstantial except for the minifigs. And if anyone says brings up City Space, I'm going to say Castle fans have Harry Potter, Disney, Hidden Side, etc.

OK. Dark orange is also orange-brown according to Brickset; I wasn't sure if that was the same as reddish brown. I really have no idea. So many similar colors now.

The Countach sold out super fast on Lego.com! Good news for '80s era super car fans like me. Maybe we'll get more of them. (And don't tell me the Countach came out in 1974 like I don't know. The Countach was the car of the 80s, and was in production for the entire '80s, not the entire '70s.)

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
danth replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I have no idea what to expect for the Avatar theme, and have low expectations for the movie. But those leaked head molds look fairly primitive. They're just regular heads with a longer neck and ears. Usually for licensed themes the alien heads are more customized and more detailed. As for Lightyear, I'm fairly hyped. The space ship designs look awesome. And one of them definitely has a dark yellow/orange windscreen. I'm hoping we get that in Lego form. Edit: actually a few have colored windscreens. http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/toyfair2022-mattel-brings-consumers-to-infinity-beyond-with-new-lightyear-lineup/ 02 and 07 definitely have yellow windscreens. 15 has more of a bronzy/brown windscreen. 01 is just clear. -
Dude, this is awesome! You took an old space vehicle that was kinda, well, forgettable IMO, and made it amazing! This is the kinda Space set I wish Lego would make.

I think we can safely ignore any arguments about molds being gone or broken. Lego creates new molds all the time, and it's only getting cheaper to do so. Lego even makes new molds for risky themes like Vidiyo. Also they can make cheaper molds for parts that they don't need millions of. Also remember that Lego animals don't require any of the tight tolerances that normal Lego bricks do. They have at most a couple studs on top and an anti-stud in each foot. They aren't designed to be used and reused as parts of an actual build like a brick or plate. They don't need the same level of clutch.

Maybe it shows a lack of class, but I'd prefer his red Lotus Esprit Turbo.
