    I'm not sure the rest of the world has moved on from 40 year old space ship designs. The new Star Wars movies still use the same space ships (or slightly modified versions) and new space ships based on the same design language (like the U-Wing or Kylo Ren's tie fighter). Lightyear is another example; its space ships could exist right along side an X-Wing or Colonial Viper.

    I actually read some rumors that this might happen. It was in a few comments for one of the recent articles about 10497 but I can't find them now...anyway nothing I would put much faith in. But why not hope for it? I wasn't expecting Forest Hideout at all, yet it happened! Then we'd have all the original colors!

    Oh, I see. So you didn't think they would make another Galaxy Explorer remake, since Benny's Spaceship was basically already that. That makes sense. I agree; I have two of these on preorder and will probably get more. And further to your point...I don't see what Lego can really do now to follow this. This is the ultimate Classic Space set. And what does ultimate mean, literally? It means last. This feels like a send off. Like, "We love you Classic Space. And always will. Goodbye!" And honestly, I don't think I'm going to need more blue, grey, and trans yellow sets after this. I don't want to be trapped in the '70s. I'd love some gray & trans green sets, or white & trans blue sets, or Blacktron, or Ice Planet, whatever. (EDIT: I'll still take a blue gray & trans yellow Creator 3-in-1 set though, with NEW trans yellow windscreens, where you can build a base & a rover & a spaceship!) But what I want more than anything, is a new Space theme with new colors. Maybe something with trans purple, or trans light green, or trans pink even. Yeah. I love Classic Space as much as anyone, and I didn't build a 497 MOC. I'm working on Space MOCs but never had a desire to build a better 497. Besides, Peter Reid knocked that one out of the park, I can just look at his. :) But 10497 is just as good, and official, and a hell of a lot cheaper than making 20 different orders on Bricklink to get the pieces. And I appreciate it! I can walk out of the store proudly with everyone knowing I'm a big boy! 😁 Huh, that's an interesting idea! That would be above and beyond. I'm glad we're getting prints at all... 😁

    I have my two pre-ordered! Thoughts: At $100 US, this is a steal. 1200+ parts, all the printed pieces, and red Space minifigs? Yes please. As a tribute to 928/497, I don't see how this could be much better. Other than including the ground base. But the ship itself is amazing. I do kinda wish there had been at least one windscreen new in trans-yellow. Even if it was just a medium flat panel. We are getting the small trans-yellow panel in this set though, which is cool. Also we did get a brand new trans-yellow wind screen this year in the Lightyear set. The printed Classic Space tile? The printed computer panels? The brick-built arrows? The LL928 print? *chef's kiss* Well, to be fair, Benny's Spaceship was 8 years ago. Why is that? This set is a tribute to the time when all sets had alt builds without instructions on the back, so I think alt builds are pretty fitting.

    I won't believe this without strong proof. I was a kid once and my friends and I hated stickers. Especially on Lego!

    I think that's a fair criticism. But I do admire Cobi's willingness to crank out specialized molds when needed, and print on parts, instead of being avaricious penny pinchers like Lego. Lego wants everyone to believe they'll go bankrupt if they spend a few more pennies on things, but it's a lie. I mean Megablocks and Cobi can do it. Usually the follow up lie for the Lego apologists is that Lego has higher material standards/quality or whatever but that's also not true. Cobi has every bit the clutch power as Lego, and don't get me started on Lego's bad color matching and scratched up parts out of the box, etc.

    Not sure if unpopular/uncommon: I'm somewhat embarrassed to buy Lego at the store (will usually ask for a bag to hide them when walking back to the car) I'm less embarrassed if it's a black boxed 18+ type set (e.g. the succulents set that I can just say is for my wife) I'm super embarrassed if the set has mini-dolls (the colors don't embarrass me at all, it's literally just the dolls) I'm super embarrassed if the set has large junior-ized dinosaurs or big-figs

    Prices are dropping in real time. I'm seeing them for less than $40 shipped. Which is kinda worth it IMO...

    Thanks for sharing. That was as great article and I love the builds. Reminds me I need to get the animal missions set and probably a couple more Space ones... Also I didn't know anything about Galaxy Rift. It looks awesome! Why isn't this a theme? Definitely looks like Galaxy Squad but I don't think they had air tanks. Look at those brick built creatures! Edit: The crashed ship looks like a color swapped Galactic Titan!

    I had to do this too. *Sigh* I ended up ordering the Monkie Kid Galactic Explorer, which I would have passed on normally, just to get this set. Every other set I want I either already have, or is out in August.

    Bah, I already pulled the trigger on Optimus Prime, thinking he'd sell out, and now I'm seeing most of the other sets I want aren't available until August. Now I gotta figure out what to buy just for this GWP...probably something with cool windscreens or new mech joints. Or maybe I should just get some Friends sets since that's obviously the best theme right now. 😁

    Yeah, it makes sense that the 90th anniversary Castle set has to be bigger than the recent two Castle offerings. It just feels a little ballsy to me. To be fair, Ninjago has been going strong for over 10 years so any large Ninjago set is going to have a built in and active fan base and Lego probably has a good idea of what those fans are shelling out each year. Same for Star Wars and Harry Potter. A big expensive Castle set just seems a little riskier. But I'm not saying it won't sell. If I know anything, it's that any decent Lego set will sell, and people are willing to spend the big bucks on it, regardless of how bad things get economically. And I'm definitely not complaining. I guess I'm just not used to getting things this good for one of my favorite themes!

    I've been kinda puzzled since the first announcement. I'm super down for a $100 castle, even a $150 castle, but $300+ is sort of crazy for a single anniversary set. It definitely gives pause.

    Probably. I didn't intend to offer my opinion as unpopular, just sort of chiming in with my preferences. If you say your opinion is the unpopular one, I won't contest that. Yeah not to disparage kids toys at all; some of those Imaginext toys are freaking rad. Like enough that I kinda wish I had a little kid...but not really. Also Imaginext is Fisher Price. But I didn't know that until just now...
