This is not about discounts. TLG recommended retail price. In this case way to high for what they offer. Compensation shouldn't be done by discounts made by retailers, because they will loose money that way and not TLG.

You forgot to mention forcing TLG to lower the price. 180€ is outrageous for this level of quality and part count in my opinion.

42114 VOLVO 6x6 Hauler problem
Andman replied to Juuso's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So you hear no sounds of stress? Do the motors stop immediately or do they slowly stop? Did you try to forcefully update the firmware of the hub? Did you reinstall the control+ app? -

Are you talking about the gear switcher installed at step 42 in the digital instructions? -
42114 VOLVO 6x6 Hauler problem
Andman replied to Juuso's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I know it shouldn't be possible... But just to make sure... Did you check, if the orientation of the differentials is correct? Check building step 105 and 324. -
Repairing Lego Racers remote control
Andman replied to Duq's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'll try to make some images during the next couple of days. Ping me again, if you don't hear anything from me until sunday. -
Impossible for me anymore. But I wish I could see them with child eyes again. Often. Seening my son looking at my Technic models with his eyes is pure joy. Often. I enjoy the build ore then improving them. I don't play alone. But it's a joy to play together with my son! Not at all. I love to see gears, mechanics inside models and lots of (manual) functions. Manual because my son likes that more and I will definitely not put my mobil phone in his hands to play with the recent remote controlled sets.

[MOC] Unimog U400
Andman replied to MajklSpajkl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Fantastic. I like it a lot! -
But it's far away from usable, especially for beginners. No explanation what blocks do. Some are self explanatory, many others aren't. And not everyone has the patience like @kbalage, to try again and again to find out what a code block does and with which motor it will work. Additionally it shouldn't have been him to tell us what these blocks are doing. The Info should have been provided by TLG. @steph77, here is the link for the code block overview: https://racingbrick.com/powered-up-code-block-guide-full/

Purism

Everyone has his own opinion about how much of a purist he want to be. What's the point of judging each other? Live and let live.- 179 replies

[WIP] Case Quadtrac 620
Andman replied to Andman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Here is the current state. The bonnet is really hard to replicate with all the curves. -
Sorry for going OT again. This is discussion is not about criticism or no criticism. I think no one here argues that criticism should be forbidden. So, I fully agree that if you post here, you should be prepared to receive criticism. But the way you express criticism can range from too much glitter, unicorns and rainbows to too harsh and/or condescending. Neither is good, The sweet spot is somewhere in the middle. Honesty is important and so is mutual respect. So, if someone does a (huge) mistake, he or she should be made aware of that mistake. But you might want to do that in a way that people are still encouraged to continue to post here. And that brings me to one of you other sentences. I think if you have that as a general principle here, the chances aren't that low that this forum will slowly shrink until only the best of the best cavort here and gradually become fewer and fewer because there is no more growth in members the old master will drop out one by one. In addition you have this general problem between sender and receiver. What someone says with a certain intention does not necessarily reach the recipient in the way it was intended. This becomes even stronger if one communicates exclusively via text messages. Someone may see a hair-raising construction and react somewhat condescendingly with a smile. This smile would soften the condescending comment. Everybody would understand that it is not so serious. But here a smile can't be seen. At least if you aren't using smileys. But by saying this I don't mean that we all should be totally careful and read what we write 10 times before we send just to make sure we don't hurt any feelings. As i wrote earlier: Neither too harsh comments nor too much glitter/unicorn/rainbows are good. Again, somewhere in between is the sweet spot.

Hi Sariel, I'm following you now for many years and I really admire your models and skills. So consider me as a huge fan. But that particular comment... With all legitimate criticism about the construction you were referring to, addressing someone condescendingly is not criticism and your comment could be easily understood as such. For my taste it was a bit too much, for other people it was obviously not. I mean I'm aware that a lot of non-vocal communication is lost when text post are used. In a face to face conversation you might have said that which a smile, which could have had a total different outcome. The German forum doctor-brick has a like button for posts. I find that very useful. First, because even when no one is replying to my post and can see these likes, which is motivating. Second, quite often i just have nothing to add. So i just leave a like. Was something like this discussed here? I think this would have motivated that guy to develop more attachments. But that's just my assumption that he stopped because of the lack of feedback.

Hi, I bought the 42100 recently and discovered an issue, which is new to me. Not sure if that was already discussed. Step 525 lets you connect a 20t with a 12t bevel gear. It runs far from smooth. So I took couple of older 20t gear (not sure how to differentiate newer ones from older ones). With the older gears the new 12t gear runs perfectly smooth, even if I use some more force to push them together. The opposite case happens when I press the new 12t and new 20t gear from the 42100 against each other. The same happens when I push the older 20t gears against the new 20t gear. Very "bumpy". When I pushed to older 20t gears against each other, they turned also very smoothly. So my conclusion is, that the teeth of the new 20t gear are too thick. My 42099 also makes still rattling sounds. Will test if the gears show the same behaviour like they do in the 42100.
