As far as i know you need UV light to make the reaction happen. I used 3% hydrogen peroxide and de-yellowed the rims from my 8880. With 3% the process takes longer but is less stressing according to a friend who is working in chemistry industry. So put the rims into it for about a week. Btw due to the process H2O and O2 are created. You can see if there is H2O2 as long as there are O2 bubbles on your parts. A light bulb would help as long as it emits UV light. I also thought about getting one of these UV light sterilisers with a tray for fluids.

42113 Osprey V-22 [VIDEO REVIEW]
Andman replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
\m/ \m/ I wonder how this got through Legos QA. With this issue in mind... the protest of the anti war organisation might came in the right moment. But that's pure speculation. Back to the topic. Thanks for the review and the link colllection. -
Lego 2-Stroke motor
Andman replied to Seto's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Your own words: You want to see it. It's impossible to do with Lego bricks. You needed help so you can see it. So the conclusion is that someone posts a video where you can see it happen. That's what @Touc4nx did. -
Help with Lego 5282 Controller
Andman replied to Ashfall's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Remove the rubber parts and open the controller. For safty don't forget to remove the battery. Remove the screw of at (1). At (2) the cover and the case are glued together. I used a butter knife to gently remove the cover. Remove the cover from the case. No need to remove the metal spring. Clean the marked part with rubber and alcohol. If there is rust, gently remove it with fine sand paper. Check also if all metal "fingers" have contact with the contacts on the board.- 4 replies

Help with Lego 5282 Controller
Andman replied to Ashfall's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In the best case you just have to open and clean it. That's what i did when i had problems. If you are not familiar with the internals of the controller, i can post pictures how to do it latest at the end of the week.- 4 replies

Technic 42043 Pneumatics
Andman replied to Vin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Mine was broken too. It had micro cracks all around the bottom. Lego was so kind to send me a new pump for free. Try to fill out the form for broken parts at the Lego website. -
It rotates. What are you missing? Are you reffering to the missing possibility to adjust the angle of the rotors?

So far i just took care the tracks since they will determine the dimensions of the rest of the model. I rebuild them a lot. Especially the track tensioner was difficult, because too much tension means too much friction. In my case i using the same gears like @I_Igor Quadtrac and the scale is ca 1:16. If you want to use the new link treads use the large sprocket wheel as driver and the normal sprocket wheel as guides. This should be roughly to scale. If you decide to use the old link threads use to gears like in @I_Igor MOC.
-
Why would you recommend that? I'm also building that tractor and plan to do that tracked variant. Was not easy since i tried tio include as many features like track tesioner, correct geometry, suspension for the three wheels at the bottom etc.

Sounds like marketing bla bla. I assume they are reffering to the app "dashboard".

They are likely willing to replace them. But there is no guarantee that the new gears will be better. In my case they were slightly better. It's perfectly fine to contact them. They may ask you to send them some kind of batch number or quality code (don't remember name), which is located on the box. I assume to trace where the parts in question were produced.

And in the end... - and that's the beauty of bricks - if I don't like certain things, I can change them. Or at least try.

Personally I'm quite sad that it seems that there is no boogie suspension. I really would like to have seen it driving over obstacles and watching the working suspension. But I assume TLG focused more on C+ and it's possibilities. So I must admit that I also got curious about the gearbox and how it will work in combination with the App.

Since there are two cables going from the front part to the back, there must be two motors in the back. Behind the liftarm 1x11 there is a gear selector. So I also assume that you can switch between drive (the box shows 1,2,3,R, but that might just be different motor speeds instead of real gear shifts) and moving the dumper. The grey axle to the right of your blue line is the selector, the yellow one next to it the input.

Giant tractor
Andman replied to howitzer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It might not explode, but it looks like many parts will be stressed too much if the suspension is compressed. Could you make a video which shows the suspension compressed? I'm also keen to see the steering in action. -
Is the sticky layer gone or did it got dirty? Glue would probably work, but I'm not sure if you get a flat surface. Another thing which comes to my mind is adhesion. Has anyone tried this? And last: Why not ordering new one from bricklink if they are not available form TLG?
