There is another simple reason. For a product you want your target group as big as possible. The 8110 or the 42054 is a perfect examples. These sets are targeted at a quite big group (people who like Lego Technic in general, Unimogs and/or tractors) and one could create tons of different attachments for them. BUT: The group of buyers for extensions for a specific set is much smaller from the outset compared to the target group for these vehicles. Extensions for the Unimog/Xerion will only be bought by the ones, who have these sets. And it is not even certain that everybody who bought an Unimog, will also buy (all) extensions. So if TLG would invest time for extensions, they would limit the target group for themselves. So, from an economical perspective it does not make sense at all. It's just not profitable for TLG to create extensions for sets.

I know this guide and mentioned his work earlier. But I'm talking just about the powered up app. Not everyone knows this forum or @kbalage videos.

I don't know Spike and it doesn't matter which name it has. It only matters that the powered up app does not provide any info about the code block. Some of them might be self-explanatory. But others aren't. But we should go back to the topic. This discussion should be continued in the Control+ thread.

It would, if there would be proper documentation for the powered up app. It was @kbalage instead of TLG, who dug deep into the possibilities of this app. And this app, at least for me, is still experimental in regards of the code blocks. And TLG missed, for whatever reason, the chance to supply proper educational and easy to use stuff with the powered up app.

I'll definitely order black wheels to get the illusion of bigger tyres. This picture still doesn't give hints about the rear suspension. Can't wait to see what they have done there.

But the Parts exposed to heat will also degrade over time. If not structurally, then likely colorwise. The heat will promote discoloration/yellowing. But these parts can of course easily be replaced. Another thing which comes to my mind is dust. It must be horrible to keep everything clean. So many holes etc. :-) Nevertheless cool project!

Help with my Sky chairs
Andman replied to RazerTDI's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
How did you solve it? By increasing the contact surface between the rope and the wheel? Something like that: Looks like your rope could fit at least two times in that little gap. -
Try running the test at 0:48 without the pullback motor. :-) I'm afraid you build something which is not what you think it is. Basically the following happens: You turn on the motor. Due to the diff the mechanical force can go two paths: To the pullback motor and to the wheels. Because of physics this force will go the path which has less resistance/friction. With the car being in front of the heavy box, the resistance of the path to the wheels is greater than the resistance of the pullback motor. UNTIL the spring inside the pull back hits its limit. Thats the point where the resistance of the pullback is greater than the resistance/friction of the box. There is only one way the modify torque (am I correct? I think so :-): Change of speed. When you lower the speed with gears, you gain torque. When you increase the speed with gears, you loose torque.

Because of control+. Not only do they need designers to make first the a model and afterwards the b model, but they now also need to develop new app profiles for the a model and b model. It wouldn't surprise me if it is just a capacity and time problem. Wasn't it mentioned at several places here?

Hm, I can't really argue against the cristism. Especially the direct comparison between the tyres... It would have been such a low effort to create at least the illusion of small rims. But in the end I must admit that the visual issues won't influence my decision too much, if I buy it or not. What I'm interested in, is technical solutions which copy the original as much as possible and the playability. Playability already come for me with minus, because of the app controller. I just can't get used to it. I like physical controllers much more. I know that there are 3rd solutions, which work very well. But it is still 3rd party.

I fully agree on both points. But I assume the designer is aware of that and it is just not possible due to restrictions of parts and design. I remember some discussions about the control+ maybe being the the issue.

Chassis for excavators

I addition to that, take the advice in the quote serious. It will run much smoother. Have a look at 42100, 42069 or especially 42094. -
That's one of THE core characteristics. It would surprise me if Volvo would approve a model with this feature missing. I'm more curious about the rear suspension. I hope that Volvo was also insisting on a proper replica too, if the designer wasn't already planning and building it. As for the tires, I think the existing tyres are perfectly fine. The profile and the dimensions are quite similar.

MOC Tank power train question(s).
Andman replied to gilboa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The difference is so small, if you are using the same type of motor. It's not worth it, since you add more friction with additional gears and axles for the diff. Did you test it before? did you connect two of the xl motors to a diff? Did diff turn a lot in one direction? In my tests it never did. So I discarded my plans to couple motors with diffs. -
I opened it. Everything looks ok. The gear don't even have visible wear. I'll clean it and apply new grease. Later I'll upload some pictures and tell more about my assumptions reagarding the click sounds. Just a quick addition. My assumption were wrong. I just found out that one of the gears has a built-in clutch. For those who have seen them: It's the white one with the spring. For the others: Picture will follow later (today or tomorrow).
