  1. Don't worry, the playing field will never be equal as it comes to parts and pieces, some people have millions of parts and are doing this for 20+ years and some people are fairly new to this and only have a limmited collection of pieces.... And some people have the older stuff that cannot be bought today like the micro motor and stuff like that.... Does it have to be an existing ride or can one invent something completely new ?
  2. Allow, it's only a power source and not structural,... btw power sources are never Lego, it's either Duracell or Varta or....
  3. 12 killshots in a row ! Shooting at a minifigure from aprox 2m distance... This thing works !
  4. Very well implemented, amazing engineering, love your other vids as well, I'm now using your design for switching a valve using a servo, this is the first design I see that let's the servo do a full 90° turn

  6. Well, that worked out pretty well.... I modified an arrow shooter part to house the actual laser, the Lego container is perfect for housing external electronics, in this case a 3,3V voltage regulator some diodes on the input to prevent reversed voltage from the IR receiver, no need to drill or glue anything, it allready has holes for the wiring. It's a 5mW green laser and the output quite surprised me, this is a serious lasergun and will be very cool to play with now it fires from a Lego IR remote.
  7. It definitely has that distopian feel to it.... haha ! I think they got their inspiration from Mad Max in this case, I love it ! That olive green is absolutely beautifull and it goes very well with the orange, love the design of this thing and I see some beautifull parts in there, I just might get this set and use the parts for detailing my builds. Thanks for sharing ! At the moment I'm working on something that has that eerie "Boston Dynamics" vibe to it...
  8. I don't drink, but I'll grab a stool anyway.... Today I ordered some small laserpointers and a 3.3V voltage regulator and some small bits to hopefully end up this weekend with a nice lasergun with a Lego connector that fires from a IR remote. I did the experiment before but I blew the laser with overvoltage as I did not use a regulator in front of it. This should work... The idea is to use it as a marker for a pneumatic missile launcher.... aka laserguided missile system
  9. Jim's right, I don't mind people having a different opinion at all, and everybody should be free to express theirs.... but really, some people.... Maybe it's them who should take a break and not me,... hmmmm ?
  10. I think the new style Lego Technic is absolutely the coolest toy on the planet. I'm fairly new to this as I started my Lego hobby in January this year after a night at my friends place, he and his son got a lot of Lego and I told him I would love to do that again after not having touched any Lego since '86. (I grew up with Lego in the 70's) Well, it took about 10 minutes and I was hooked, I immediately digged the new system and I saw why it went that way, all the frustration I had as a kid with the old system and the things you could not do with it were now solved, and with the addition of the new PF and pneumatics it is now absolutely epic. So the next day I went on an auction site and got me a 2nd hand crawler and bought the Porsche, some time after that I felt the need for more PF so I got me another crawler (I didn't know about the V1 vs V2 IR system at that time but oh boy I feel lucky I did that) I don't care for sets at all, building the Porsche from the booklet must have been the most boring thing I ever did in my life, no room for creativity at all, actually I did not want to build it at all, just use the parts, but somehow I felt obliged to build it first, something I wil not do ever again in my life, if I buy another set I will just dump the parts in my bins, trow away the booklets and box and be done with it. Building a set feels like painting by numbers, it's painting for people who can't actually paint.... but what if you can paint ? ... just get a blank canvas, the most beautifull thing in the world is a blank canvas..... endless potential. And that is what Lego is for me, an endless potential. And I feel that's what's Lego is all about, it's not about the sets, it's all about what YOU do with it, sets are only there to introduce new parts and extend your collection of bits and colours and providing it in a set form will make it more appealing instead of selling boxes with random parts and bits, especially to the kids this toy is aimed at. It's we, the adults who are the crazy ones for using a kids toy to do serious engineering with it... Personally I am getting very annoyed with all the so called complaints with the new sets some people feel the need expressing over and over and over again.... If this was my forum I would simply ban the mofo's for a while, some people really need to go see a shrink. I think the new sets are all pretty awesome, but I'm not buying any of them as I wil simply end up with way to much Lego to store, I rather just buy the parts I need (don't have yet) and I think it's really cool the new bits in the Chiron can be bought separately allready, so I don't need to buy the Chiron to get the new parts.... The new Technic is epic !!! Cheers !
  11. That gearbox is looking really neat, almost can't believe it has the same functions the original one had... nice job !
  12. I did that in the late 70's when I was a kid Yes it works, on small passive builds, but not on this beast.
  13. Yes ! .. must have LED's. Love to see it benig build in all these colors, they all work out great, I guess there will be many more
  14. Yes, correct, this was just a quick testing of the principle of driving the large turntables directly, there's a far mre sophisticated version now on my desk, wich will be part of my next moc, it needs to be build solid as a rock because the amount of torque is absolutely huge for a Lego contraption. And there's another thing there, it really needs a centre differential because of the huge steering angle that is allowed with this setup the inner wheel hardly rotates in the corners, in combination with the torque it just makes the whole thing whobble and squeek in the corners. So I now have a centre differential, formlocked build, pneumatic suspended V2 in the works, removing the motors allows for even more gearing if needed and the good thing is, the gearing takes place at the right place for Lego contraptions, there's no stress on the fragile differential as all the gearing is taking place after it, and with two coupled L motors I am actually gearing up towards the differential so it still has a nice speed, it's definitely not crawling, no critical stress points in the drivetrain and a huge steering angle. I think as a concept this is very promising.
  15. Promising, very promising.... Need torque ? Need insane steering radius ? Need no CV joints...
  16. Ah thanks, I was just not shure what I was looking at.
  17. On my crappy old PC I can't open LXF files so looking at renders is all I've got... Seeing this render got me wondering if there is a gear ratio on the rear axles or is the gearing 1:1 ?
  18. @ Lego, Wheel arche panels in black please...
  19. Yes you could with a V2 receiver, 2 L motors per channel.
  20. Especially with these kind of complex setups, the amount of friction very much depends on "the hands of the builder" would be my guess. Build with care things should run smoothly if the design is correct, if not, there's always silicone spray. I think with the introduction yesterday many builds were done in a rush, wich would explain friction in the drivetrain.
  21. In a video I saw the break callipers moving ? Are these brakes functional ? ... if not, could they be made functional ?
