10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
An LRV certainly seems like a plausible option to me. The Space Shuttle is certainly the most likely but I kinda hope it’s not. We’ve not exactly had a huge amount of variation have we? I’m honestly a post-classic-space era guy, so the other idea doesn’t really interest me...- 310 replies

@M_slug357 yes that makes sense. But I still think green should appear in passenger trains more. GWR (UK) is an example of a railway that uses them. There are many more as well....

Following the pattern of 2 years then one without, yes there ought to be one. 2014: Mixer 2015: Ferris Wheel 2016: N/A 2017: Carousel 2018: Roller Coaster 2019: N/A 2020: Haunted House 2021: I’ve brought this up in other threads (Botanical Collection, Landmark Buildings, Trains) and been told that it could be a typo but as it hasn’t changed in a month I hold my ground; this site mentions 10295: ? Should this come true, and all sets 10278-10295 inclusive are released, that comes to a total of 18 Creator Expert type 18+ sets at least. If it’s true, you can practically guarantee a fairground ride. The only known ones of those 18 are the Police Station, Flower Bouquet and Bonsai Tree - that leaves 15 unknown, of which one is highly likely to be fairground.

Beautiful! They look properly ‘fish-tanky’! The idea to use those balloon wedges as tentacles is genius - it makes for some very convincing creatures!
-
That’s a difficult question. Probably While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Yours?

@bondp99 You’ve nailed it. This is an amazing MOC! Really fitting for the time, and I could just imagine it on a modular street.

Amazing! The idea to have the foot tapping to the beat is brilliant! You have excellent taste, sir! I listened to the Blue Album myself yesterday, and this is one of my personal favourites. The synchronisation idea is unique - shame about the sound not working!

Ideas for life-sized and other non-licensed 18+ sets
Vilhelm22 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
In the Botanical Collection group, what about a Bird of Paradise Flower? A kniphofia (Red hot poker) could also be interesting. On the landmarks front, the difficulty comes from the fact that many of the most impressive buildings are religious, and LEGO has a longstanding strictly non religious policy - hence ‘Winter Village’ rather than ‘Christmas’, and similar. The only actual church I know of was in 1958. But it means that buildings like Notre Dame (sorry @Terrasher!), St Basil’s (one of my personal favourites), and St Paul’s in London aren’t really options. I honestly don’t know the major buildings of other religions - but there must be some for all religions which would be great as landmark sets. Just please not another sports arena!- 6 replies

@M_slug357 I think you’re onto something here. Judging by what they’ve produced in the past few years and announced for next year, I think 1 is the most likely path for them to take. Honestly I’m just happy with anything train related... Honestly I think a 2-6-6-2 locomotive in the near future, such as the PRR GG1, is very unlikely. The GG1 will have to wait. If the Expert line continues to be successful, I personally expect a large US diesel locomotive, followed by a European steam. There have been quite a few US steam locomotives recently... Looking back at the schemes since the formation of City in 2005: Year: Cargo (Accents), Passenger (Accents) 2006: Green (Black), White (Red) 2010: Yellow (DBG, Black), Red (White, DBG) 2011: Red 2014: Blue (Black, Yellow), White (Red, DBG) 2015: Red (DBG) 2018: Green (White), Dark Blue/Flame Yellowish Orange (White, DBG) There’s no real pattern, but we haven’t had any green on a passenger train. Honestly I’ve got no clue.

Very impressive! These landscapes are always some of my favourites. What’s going to happen to the train track in the end - will it curve around into a tunnel in the side of the canyon? Will the canyon open out? Will it straighten out on the opposite bank?
-
Very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very impressed! I’ve been on this forum a few years now and rarely see such good MOCs. The paintwork on this is about as far from square as you could possibly get, and in the words of Caesar, you came, you saw, you conquered! From a distance it looks like a die cast model train rather than a LEGO one. Must weigh a ton though - you’re gonna want a lot of motors on that!

Very nice! I love these kinetic sculptures - this would look great next to Pursuit of Flight if it gets turned into a set through BrickLink...

Botanical Collection - Rumours and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Cactus would definitely be excellent, and a carnivorous plant would be terrific as well! They’d almost certainly go for a Venus flytrap as the one everyone knows. I’d also like to see something like an aloe vera, as another unusual shape...- 137 replies

Botanical Collection - Rumours and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Got a new update today! LEGO announced yesterday two new sets designed to go with the bouquet. They actually do not fall under either the Botanical Collection or 18+ tags, but are clearly designed to accompany them. The 2 new sets are: 40460 Roses - £11.99/€12.99 40461 Tulips - £8.99/€9.99 There are two red roses in 40460, and three tulips in white, medium lavender (I think - LEGO just says purple!), and cool yellow in 40461. Both are to be released on January 1st, and refer specifically to 10280 Flower Bouquet in their descriptions on LEGO.com - despite no official appearance of 10280 on the site yet. For a reference of size, the tulip stem is 24 cm or 8 inches. There are at least 3 new recolours - 3l Technic axle joiner in dark and lime green, as well as a part of which I’m unsure the name of that makes the leaves on the roses - the Brickset article says they were first car bonnets. Personally, I think this is a very good development, as it really opens up for future expansion of this previously unexplored floral topic. The sets are also good for creating a matching bunch, or for those who cannot afford the larger Bouquet. One of my first thoughts was that it was a perfect present for this time of year as a Christmas present when you have to buy for many and don’t want to spend too much. The whole floral idea generally also works great as I know people who have serious hay fever and can’t have flowers as a result......until now! I’ll be interested to see where they go next in terms of larger sets - this is getting interesting!- 137 replies

Fantastic! You see modular police station MOCS all the time, but an umbrella shop on the other hand - that’s a niche idea and very well executed.
-
Amazing! Really starting to get in the Christmas mood now so this is perfect. @Thedarkmaster2 The ship piece appears in at least 2 modulars (PC, DO). Probably appears elsewhere too.

Brilliant! I love the long sleigh! I was born after monorail had been and gone, unfortunately....

BrickTracks: different curves, PF/9V compatible
Vilhelm22 replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Just out of interest @coaster, will you be pursuing the 9v wide radius curve path as well? Or are you leaving that to Fx Bricks? -
Embarrassingly, I didn’t know this magazine existed. Guess it’s not stocked round me. Thanks!
