Though initially it started out as wishlisting, I argued on @Peppermint_M's Future Action/Adventure Theme thread that Lego could try either a more modern take on the theme, or even better, a more heavily stylized Dieselpunk/Sky-fi take. I certainly think the latter could be a winner with kids if done right.

Questions for Creator Expert designers

So why does TLG need to review it? Is it simply because confidential subjects were discussed? -
We will just have to wait and see, but I could see next year's Creator Expert modular being riddled with many references and easter eggs to the System's 60th anniversary, at the very least that is.

Not that it will go anywhere, but szabomate90's I Am Your Father has passed 10,000 to become the Second 2017 review's fourth project. http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-ideas-i-am-your-father-achieves-10000-supporters/ -

Voltron & Ship in Bottle IDEAS approved
Digger of Bricks replied to Hoth Rebel's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think we've already saw this coming after Bali Padda's comment at this year's Media Fan Days event regarding their interest in Asian IPs. I doubt he was just speaking of this license alone, so you've got to wonder what else is being considered. -
Voltron & Ship in Bottle IDEAS approved
Digger of Bricks replied to Hoth Rebel's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Unless something changes during the design process, I'm just happy to see that this set will be giving us four of part no. 6002, not seen in Trans-clear since 1992's 6416 Poolside Paradise. Same here, along with the rejection of both the Vintage Tram and The Iron Giant projects. -

The Ship in a Bottle project?! Wow, I really wasn't counting on that one due to the bottle's unusual construction; but on the bright side, we will be getting four of those unusual quarter dome pieces from 1992's 6416 Poolside Paradise, which is rather cool. Due to this project's delayed announcement, you just knew Voltron was going to be approved; and although I'm not really a fan of the source material, it certainly will make for a most impressive set! So, who's going to start the 1st Review 2017 guessing game thread? -
Fantastic Beasts 2018 - Speculation & Future Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Ookami's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wonder if "Asian IPs" include licenses based upon American Hollywood films that owe the majority of their box office success on earnings from China. For instance, 2013's Pacific Rim grossed $101.8 million domestically; but grossed $309.2 million overseas, with $114.3 million in China alone. It's probably too late given what we know now about sets and themes for 2018, but with Pacific Rim: Uprising slated for March next year, I wonder if Lego would be interested in the franchise. -

Can't wait to see what the results are! Like you said, a competition does suggest the review won't be a dud; and looking at the options again, it really does seem to boil down to those four. I hope this review does approve two of the projects as opposed to one, to make up for the lackluster result of the last project. -

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Digger of Bricks replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
How would any of you feel if Nexo Knights was actually a space theme, that is, its setting was in space? Such a difference would have effected many elements of the theme, but it would be interesting to know what both castle fans and space fans would have thought of a theme like that. Trans. Purple would make for an interesting pairing with Black, not to mention that canopies in that color are few; but I think maybe such a color combination would be more suited for an alien incarnation of Blacktron instead.- 991 replies

I mostly was thinking that this topic may include discussion on the plausibility of the future return of recurring action/adventure themes such as Adventurers, Aquazone, Agents, etc. Particularly, I was wondering if anyone here thinks that there may be a possibility the Adventurers theme will return in some form next year for the theme's twentieth anniversary. This was something I never thought about until recently, after remembering that the theme was first introduced in 1998.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Personally, I would like to see the Voltron project, the Iron Giant project, the 1950's Diner project, and the Vintage Tram project all get approved for this review. Yes, I know, that would never happen, but I'd really hate to see any one of those four projects get rejected. Regarding Iron Giant's appearance in Ready Player One, Spielberg said during the SDCC panel Q&A that his role in the film is a major one, not just merely an easter egg. So perhaps this might be taken into account by Lego if that is case. http://screenrant.com/ready-player-one-iron-giant-explained/ -
Well, it looks like 2019's The Billion Brick Race is getting a new director. From Screen Rant:

Is this thread also a speculation discussion regarding the plausible possibilities of action/adventure themes' future, or something else?

Other than more prominent examples, such as the five unknown sets SVL has mentioned here, I wonder if we will see 60th anniversary references spread throughout sets in other themes just as subtle easter eggs. Specifically, we could see many City products that could reference past notable sets, and Nexo Knights could include stronger 40th anniversary references to Classic Castle in next year's sets.

What is your favourite Lego Star Wars set ever?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego_Trooper's topic in General LEGO Discussion
While I'm not that much of a Star Wars fan, three particular sets I am fond of are 2012's 9500 Sith Fury-class Interceptor, and 2017's 75185 Tracker I and 75179 Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter. The Tracker I specifically is extraordinary in that is the first set to utilize the "Nexogon" shield in the construction of the main build. I do wonder if the TLJ Resistance Speeder actually has a yellow tinted canopy in the actual film, or if Lego designers just snuck that in there. -
Creator and Creator expert wishlist
Digger of Bricks replied to Ondra's topic in Special LEGO Themes
While there are many subgenres of mecha that could make for some impressive set material, a particular one I would like to see for Creator (both Expert and non-Expert) is the Jaeger subgenre, made familiar by Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim from 2013. Here are a few poster examples of some of the Jaegers featured in the film. Oh, and while an MOC of this scale could never be done as a set, check out this gargantuan creation of Gypsy Danger by Flickr user JAN LEGO. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Well, if it is Wayne Manor, perhaps it will be a surprisingly good set; but honestly, I was sort of hoping the D2C would be a Gotham City modular to complement Ninjago City. -
What is your favourite Lego Star Wars set ever?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego_Trooper's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm surprised that designers haven't taken more advantage of original Lego Star Wars TV show sets to insert more new colorful canopy parts into, with the only example being 2016's 75145 Eclipse Fighter. -
DC Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
As far as a MM Joker goes, I'd imagine he'd be pretty wild looking in a cartoonish style, if he wasn't crazy looking enough already. Now I'd be interested to know what sort of hairpiece he will be doning, if it will be a new recolor or a preexisting one. I almost imagine they will just give him TLBM Joker's hairpiece, which is probably cartoonish enough to fit the bill.- 1,409 replies

Being a rather slow subforum here on Eurobricks, I thought I'd start this discussion to help liven it up, since many here I'm sure have a personal favorite as far as Brickfilmers go. If not anyone in particular, perhaps just a specific Brickfilm. There are many great Brickfilms out there, but still, my all time favorite will still be Fancy Pants's Force Unleashed Brickfilm. After seven years now, it still such a mindblowing piece of work! Now an overall great Brickfilmer who's work I thoroughly enjoy is Brotherhood Workshop, who is not only a great Brickfilmer, but a hilarious one at that! He does not resort to over the top violence or profanity, but just good old-fashioned, fast pased slapstick humor. Here are two personal favorites of mine, one done for HISHE, which both great!

Which AFOL Builders do you Admire or Aspire After?
Digger of Bricks replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Community
Woah @AnalogPanda, that is a boatload! Many of those builders I'm not even familiar with, I'll definitely check some of those out when I have some time. Also, thanks @soccerkid6 for sharing that, I actually didn't know some of those guys were here on Eurobricks; especially @Xenomurphy, his 1920's style Arkham Asylum and Daily Planet are just amazing! His work is great, I was certainly amazed by his Batman Theatre Showdown display when I first saw it on The Brothers Brick.- 29 replies
