  1. All I want to know is if this wave will give us any new transparent recolors for canopies, either from the knights side or the villains, especially the latter since Trans-green seems to be used predominantly by them. But I suppose canopies would be too spacey for Nexo Knights villains.
  2. Do we have enough confidence that the Classic theme will continue for 2018, or should we wait verifiable information? Sir Von Lego is reporting on @BrickWild's 60th Anniversary Prediction thread that there will be five sets pertaining to the anniversary across various themes, one of them a brick bucket possibly belonging to the Classic theme.
  3. Wha...my gosh, that is a new piece! I've been presuming this whole time without looking too closely that the Ice Tank was using a recolor of the traditional MF canopy part! Well, I don't read this thread often, so I guess that is our UCS canopy piece.
  4. By the way, is this brick shaped box you speak of like the plastic boxes utilized for the Classic and Juniors themes, or is it a brick shaped cardboard box?
  5. I'm not certain, but I believe I might have read that in the 2008 book 50 Years of the Lego Brick by Christian Humberg. Speaking of Porsche, I saw today on the road a newer 911 Targa, and thought how that could make for a nice SC set, though it may be too casual of a sports car for the theme.
  6. That's true regarding annual release dates. Last year, I was sort anticipating TLNM to move to a February 2018 release, for not only WB's but Lego's sake also. But, here we are with two Lego movies tightly squeezed into one year, each one spawning more sets apiece than The Lego Movie had ever did. Still, I do feel that at some point next year, WB will end up moving The Billion Brick Race's release date from May 2019 to either a Christmas 2019 or February 2020 date instead. Where WB has that film scheduled now is way too close to The Lego Movie sequel, especially for Lego I feel.
  7. So about the canopy for the cockpit, could you tell if it was a large part with printing, or was it a frame piece with pop-in windows like parts made for City aircraft sets? Personally, the latter option I would be quite excited about.
  8. Whatever the case, in retrospect, 2017 has been pretty good to us as far as Trans-yellow canopies go. We can primarily thank The Lego Batman Movie for that, with three of the sets giving us a highly desirable minifigure scale X Wing canopy in printed and unprinted versions, and the initial Batmobile giving us a brand new windshield part in Trans-yellow also. I was at a local Walmart the other day, and many of the sets there were on clearance, presumably to make room for Ninjago Movie sets in a few days. Some of these sets even included summer 2017 releases, one of them being the Ultimate Batmobile at $30 off its original retail price! Originally $130, its clearance price at $100 was quite tempting, since you spend the same amount for TLBM Batcave which includes only one Trans-yellow X Wing canopy as opposed to the three included in the Batmobile! But, I've usually collected nearly all my bricks from local thrift stores and estate/garage sales, so retail purchases are mostly not a consideration of mine.
  9. SWEEEEEEET! Talk about swooshable, this looks great! I don't usually like heavy usage of solid yellow on Blacktron I creations, but in this case, I really dig it! I definitely can see the SR-71 inspiration in this, and the Trans-red on the thrusters looks very nice.
  10. Here is a very sleek, Power Functioned bullet train by cheeseinthepie, that utilizes City airplane hull parts to achieve its sleekness. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0201e12d-d4a2-43f1-a292-29c51c8134a1
  11. It would be interesting to know if Meowthra is CGI animated or an actual cat green screened into the film. The latter possibility would be too cool!
  12. That's cool to know, is the cockpit construction built from preexisting parts like the 2007 set or are there new pieces involved?
  13. I hadn't even noticed before, but the Lex Mech comes with two recolors of part no. 27262 in Dark Purple on the sides of the cockpit. That's nice to see, since the Lobo set also gave us two Trans. Light Green recolors of the same part. Edit: Also, does anyone know what color the tailfin/axhead pieces come in? Is it either Trans. Light Green or Trans. Florescent Green?
  14. Oh WOW, that's just too cool Bob! It really does have a bug like quality to it, especially with the arched, exoskeletal back and small retrieval arms up front. Your construction of the cockpit's canopy is reminding me of Jonhall18's V-22 Phoenix, which I have pictured below.
  15. Though it would not depend upon a constraction system like Ultrabuild, it would sort of be cool to see a Technic subtheme composed of piloted Mecha, featuring complex mechanics and possible walkability functioning. Granted, these sets would not be inexpensive like traditional constraction sets, but I could see a market for them. After all, TLG CEO Bali Padda had said in an interview with fans at May's Media Fan Days event that they are looking into obtaining Asian IPs for future themes, which some have speculated could include Mecha Anime franchises. Knowing Technic though, the theme usually focuses on real life source material, so it may not venture into fictional source material. So...perhaps they could create an entirely separate theme for this, maybe they could call it "Mechnic".
  16. I don't know why this hasn't occured to me before, but it just hit me, 2018 will also be the 20th anniversary of the Adventurers theme. Perhaps maybe we could see something in store for then? A new theme?! That's quite unexpected, could we be seeing something like the Lego Legends line from the early 2000's? By the way @Sir von Lego, speaking of Creator, do you know anything about sets for that theme next year?
  17. For one particular theme or across several different themes? Now I'm seriously hyped!
  18. So far, WB seems to have a pattern going with their animated Lego movies, with two films scheduled every other year (TLBM and TLNM for 2017, TLM2 and TBBR for 2019). So in continuation of that, we may see two other films announced for 2021. So when do you expect WB to announce potential future movies? Also, WB's department WAG (Warner Animation Group) is developing a Minecraft movie for scheduled release in 2019; so I was wondering if, given the success of Lego and Mojang's product partnership, we could see the Minecraft license incorporated into Lego's cinematic universe for the promotion of WAG's other developing film franchise. Do you think that could be possible, at least as character cameos?
  19. Fingers crossed! I certainly have high hopes for next year, especially for the Creator theme just like you've mentioned, including other members here such as @danth, @LegoMonorailFan, and others. While a large, commemorative D2C for the Castle or Space themes would be amazing, I'm counting on some non-Expert Creator sets for those two. Pirates, on the other hand, could be seen for 2019 instead for that theme's 30th anniversary, at least that is what everyone is expecting. Now we just need @Sir von Lego to fill us in on winter 2018 Creator sets to see what is in store. Hey, great topic by the way!
  20. Another cool subtheme that would be nice to see for DC Comic sets would be a vignette subtheme, with offerings similar to the 2015 SDCC exclusive Action Comics #1 Superman (pictured below). Like that set, the subtheme would feature vignettes based upon classic comic covers and/or iconic scenes from DC cinematic movies, all using a 12 by 12 baseplate formula. If successful, this concept could carry over to other licensed themes such as Marvel Comics or Star Wars.
  21. A nice and simple mod, but most hilarious! I really like your reusage of parts in the interior, especially the repurposing of Joker's zebra seat prints. The Bat-Bananaboat is nice also, and Bruce Wayne's usage of the POTC Ghost Captain hairpiece is funny!
  22. I forgot about him, he made some pretty well designed figures. Now I've never seen his Golden Age Superman and Batman designs, those are cool! Two other designs I've never seen that are also very nice are his Dr. Fate and Starman figures, those are two I would like to see done officially by Lego, since their helmet designs are quite repurposable for Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers styled spacemen. Now on the other hand, that one Dark Knight Batman V2 figure, who would even commission such a design?!
  23. I think a theme composed of Lego designers' original, personal side project creations would be great, perhaps named something along the lines of "Designers Choice". Many of TLG's most well known designers, such as Jamie Berard, Marcos Bessa, Mark Stafford (a.k.a. @Nabii), etc, could offer some amazing sets based upon an original creation of theirs for any genre of their liking. For instance, I know Mark Stafford creates some impressive mecha and viper fighter MOCs that could make for some very nice set material.
  24. Well, it could be possible to see an annual non-Expert Creator train subtheme, composed of $50-$70 three in one sets whose main builds would be a single, small L-Gauge locomotive, with two freight and/or passenger car alternate builds. This was something I proposed on @Ondra's Creator and Creator Expert Wishlist thread I've linked below. I've always felt that the Friends theme would be perfect outlet for the introduction of a new monorail system. Besides, what could be more sleeker than a high speed bullet train than a monorail? But having that said, I don't think Lego would ever introduce a whole new track system under the Friends theme, something more likely to happen under the City theme instead. And it has been said before elsewhere, that apparently a monorail concept was tested unsuccessfully with kids in more recent years; but I do wonder if it had ever been tested with girls for the Friends theme as an option.
  25. Seeing where this discussion has now gone, I will admit, we do need to see more accessible options from Lego for part availability. Now as great as color specific part packs would be, I could only see something like that happening if we saw a more mainstream resurgence in adult hobbyism, an adult market I think Lego would gladly cater to more if that were the case. Currently though, a possibly more viable option could be a return to the Designer subtheme of sets for Creator. Seen from 2003-2005, the concept of those sets were great since their 8 in 1 to 15 in 1 format made them more of a themed part pack, instead of merely a build with two alternate smaller constructs. Here is the Brickset listing for the Designer subtheme linked below for reference. https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Creator/subtheme-Designer-Set
