Lego 60th Anniversary sets 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to TeufelHund's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Similar to the gift-with-purchase set seen at the bottom of the leaked January 2018 store catalog, as in that I'm hoping for something for the Creator theme that could pay homage to classic Lego sets and themes in the second half of 2018. -

Lego 60th Anniversary sets 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to TeufelHund's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Of course, I'm hoping that Creator (Expert or otherwise) will have something similar in store for the second half of 2018, preferably minifigure scale. -
Wouldn't it be interesting to learn that actually these two sets are part of a broader Cartoon Network theme? I would definitely like to see something like that as opposed to a one off theme that would eventually expire into irrelevance after the show winds down.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Perhaps there will be some new parts introduced in this modular that we have yet to see, much like the macaroni tiles and the 45° door frame seen in the Assembly Square. -

SWEET! That retro wraparound window looks awesome! -
Wait a minute, is there perhaps a chance these two sets could belong to the Juniors theme? Or, do their set numbers not fit within the known set numbers we are aware of for 2018 so far?

Best Theme: The Lego Batman Movie. Best Minifigure: My avatar, duh. Best Set: Ideas' The Old Fishing Store. Most Anticipated for 2018: Creator (Non-Expert), at least hopefully for the second half of the year. But, I'm looking forward to pretty much anything that may be in store for the most of the year, even if that mean picking apart all upcoming offerings piece by piece. Oh, yeah, now as far as 2017's worst offerings go, I can't really say, since most everything has something to come away with, so there's nothing really I can be that pessimistic about.

Here's the particular video where @just2good had talked about this: You know though, the thing is, doesn't only two sets seem awfully small for the premiere wave of a new theme? I know there were the two sole sets done for The Last Airbender theme back in 2006, but still...

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I never thought of this before, but I now wonder if that new roof cone part was developed more in mind for a potential Hogwarts Castle for next year's revival theme. -
Hmm, didn't see that coming. Well, this would be the third yet-to-be confirmed new theme that we are expecting for the second half of 2018, the other two being the Unikitty TV show theme and that enigmatic constraction theme we heard about awhile ago.

Marvel Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I've noticed that also for the Creator line next year, with less or nearly no heading border for the box art. I guess it sort of started with The Lego Ninjago Movie sets for this year. Edit: Never mind, you were talking about something else. But hey, that is rather interesting.- 3,962 replies

First 2017 LEGO Ideas Results
Digger of Bricks replied to JGW3000's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Actually, the last time I heard, Disney is instead considering rebooting the franchise as opposed to doing a second sequel. Wait, doesn't the Ideas team only have a prohibition on specific Disney franchises and movie licenses, particularly those that have had sets or themes done by Lego already? Or, is there currently a blanket prohibition on everything Disney now for Ideas projects? -
LEGO Ideas Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Probably the only other project that I wished had been approved was the Medieval Windmill project. Castle fans would have been ecstatic over that! Well I'm afraid that will end up being the case with the next review, which is why I wish that Lego would have carried over at least one project from this review for further consideration, something that would have a better chance of approval compared to the six projects that are next up for review. -
I certainly can't say that I'm not excited for this project's approval, as Tron Legacy was such an amazing visual spectacle of a film. But, I am somewhat disappointed that it was the only accepted project of the review. I at least hoped that one of the other projects from the First 2017 Review would carry over to the Second 2017 Review for further consideration, since the six projects in the next review look pretty hopeless. I think we can sort of get a sense of the size of the finalized product from looking at that black box that the set designer is holding at the end of the review results announcement video. Presumably, that is the finalized product in his hands, right? But like you had suggested, I almost think that will indeed be the case. It may be that Disney might want many of the smaller details of the Lightcycle to be either printed or stickered, as opposed to brick built, to comply with the licensing requirements. If so, that would end up reducing the piece count down to such a small amount, that a second Lightcycle would be necessary.

Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation
Digger of Bricks replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Does Klaus look like he is donning a new hairpiece, or is it just simply Superman's BvS hairpiece? Also, would this be Andy Serkis' first appearance in minifigure form, not counting Golem? -
Yeah, for me, the choice between the S12 Swashbuckler and the S11 Saxophone Player was the hardest of the choices presented here. But, I settled on the S12 Swashbuckler in the end; but, if he were more like Zorro, the choice would have been much easier.

Survey: New parts and new colors
Digger of Bricks replied to Bonaparte's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would like to see inverses of bow parts 29120 and 29119 (both pictured below), and maybe, a slope part that is a side-by-side fusion of those two into a single, pointed bow. -
What was the last movie you watched?
Digger of Bricks replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Recently, I've watched Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin (2011), the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy, and Disney Pixar's Up. I decided to watch Tintin after reading a interesting comment made by EB user @1974 last year on this topic, saying that the license was pursued by TLG some time before Lego had acquired the Star Wars license. As opposed to reading the books, I watched the film adaptation instead which was quite a fun movie, with some beautiful motion capture animation. It was also fun that both Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis both starred in it together, since they also were both in Peter Jackson's 2005 remake of King Kong which I saw in theaters back when I was ten. Probably my only complaint about Tintin was its sudden, lackluster ending, but I haven't read any of the books, so I'm probably not one to judge. Since I particularly liked Andy Serkis' portrayal of Haddock in the movie, I then decided to watch the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy for a few nights in a row, which were all excellent in their own way. Serkis' portrayal of Caesar is simply amazing, and cool to see since he did also act and motion capture Kong in Jackson's 2005 reboot, so the trilogy held a bit of nostalgia for me in that respect. Now actually, the primary reason I decided to watch Up was because it had an airship in. Though it was a good movie, I thought it would be a much more grand adventure, and it somewhat seemed to go by fast. But, it was supposed to be a simple tale for a simple message. -
First 2017 LEGO Ideas Review - Guessing Game
Digger of Bricks replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If that is indeed the case, that would mean TLG had chosen and developed the project as a set long before its announcement, which even now has yet to happen.- 47 replies

Lego 60th Anniversary sets 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to TeufelHund's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's true, and like I had said earlier on this thread, these sets in a way celebrate the System's sixtieth anniversary by showcasing how far along a basic brick assortment has come in six decades. They could have included many other more specialized parts and minifigures in these collections, but I think they only chose the most versatile of bricks currently available. Now how these differ from sets in the Classic theme, we'll just have to wait and see. -

Most looking forward to it! -
I saw this on Flickr last night, and the rear shot of this beauty is still just the best, especially with that tailfin's awesome shaping.
