LEGO Battle Arena - Batman vs Captain America

Hey, your animation and camera angles in this are pretty good looking! I like how you animated Captain America ripping Batman's cape off. -

Future Train sets discussion/speculation
Digger of Bricks replied to peterab's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I'm wondering how much of a presence Casey Junior the circus train will have in this remake compared to the 1941 classic. I know, Lego may likely not even address either film in any way by the time the remake hits theaters, but it would be a good excuse for a train set though. As for which version I'd prefer to see hypothetically done as a set, I could go either way. A set based upon the one portrayed in the 1941 classic would be, well, more classic, while a set based upon the one seen in the remake would feature both a more realistic looking locomotive and circus animals. Oh, and as for that intoxicated sequence from the original film, knowing Tim Burton, I'd guess it would be included in some reimagined way. -

LEGO Ninjago 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I most definitely can appreciate that, as themes that would draw direct inspiration from those genres as a basis may not be viable at the current time. So instead, designers interweave elements of those genres into successful, preexisting in-house themes, giving fans minifigures, parts, and elements for us to incorporate into our own themed creations.- 2,384 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Zeerust? Wow, I've never heard of that expression before, but I just looked the word up and came across this informative article. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, now I have yet another word for my retrofuturistic vernacular to annoy people with. Perhaps we could start a topic on the subject for discussion.- 2,384 replies

Fun! I don't believe I've ever seen anyone do box mockups for their own custom BrickHeadz creations before. My personal favorites are both of Jang and J2G. I love how you gave J2G a Paradisa set.

Which project do you think will be LEGO's choice for the Second 2017 Ideas Review? Likewise, what do you think LEGO's choice will be for the Third 2017 Ideas Review?

Ditto, and honestly, I do think that will be the way it turns out, perhaps with also an additional display base. I'm also guessing that each Lightcycle will end up using less parts in the final product than what has been originally proposed, instead relying more on printed parts for the finer detailing. The set's designer did have the presumably finished product in his hands at the end of the results announcement video, so if that says anything... Also, gauging from the size of the box he held in that video, I'd estimate it's a US $20-$30 set, with roughly 200-300 parts included.

DC Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's what in was thinking could be a possibility, as 2016 gave us two comic based sets which featured Suicide Squad members around the same year the DCEU movie was relevant. With 2018, there will be three separate media productions focused on the Titans that may make such comic based sets a possibility.- 1,409 replies

Ah, okay, I'm viewing your post on a tablet in horizontal desktop format. I wish I could find the code for that sort of mini-embed, as there may be the possibility that I would be able to post either two or three of those embedded videos in a row as opposed to one atop the other. For me, that would just make for a nicer, more compact post format.

Future Train sets discussion/speculation
Digger of Bricks replied to peterab's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Does anyone think that we could see an exclusive D2C set of Casey Junior from Disney's Dumbo come next year, particularly to coincide with Tim Burton's 2019 remake of the classic? If so, which version would Lego base the set off of, the one seen in the original 1941 film, or the one portrayed in Burton's remake? -
Now that could be cool, as it would give us even more Arabian styled minifigures like the Prince of Persia theme had done back in 2009. They just better not be... Minidolls.

As in that they could supply alternate transparent colored parts to change the model? That's a cool idea. That might not be the total number, maybe.

Does anyone think that the presence of a Tron figure might suggest that there is another adversarial Lightcycle in this set next to Sam's, or is he just an additional supplementary figure like Quora? Um, what do you mean by this in context to the rest of your post?
-
Whoa, you're right, how come I had never thought of that before as a preexisting option?!
-
Hey, how did you "thumbnail" those embedded YouTube videos? Am I just seeing them that way?
-
I can't believe that they has actually made a new helmet mold for Tron! By the way, the image of all three characters has both Sam and Quora's torso and legs paired with the wrong heads.
-
It really is too bad that we haven't seen many other train wheel recolors, even nearly ten years after the introduction of the Emerald Night. But even with rolling stock wheels, Lego has had plenty of opportunities to recolor those in City Train subtheme sets. I know they are most likely just using whatever preexisting stock they have on hand, but still, how hard can a recolor be? It's certainly easier than introducing new molds.

Ideas for New Action Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
While discussion of Space based themes is suggested to be discussed over on the Sci-Fi subforum, I will soundly agree with you on that point. I've stated my own wish for this on other topics before, but I'd hope to see an original Space theme inspired after the style and storylines of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers comic strips. -
Not enough CMF series a year? CMF Rota Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's a good, diplomatic solution, but I've always been under the impression that both designers and manufacturing factories can only handle three series a year.- 72 replies

Over on Instagram under #legoleak, there are two purported images of this set's minifigures, which include Sam, Quora, and Clu with a new helmet mold. Edit: Oh, that figure I said was Clu is actually Rinzler/Corrupted Tron.

If Lego were ever to do a line of one off sets done for classic movies under a broadly branded Disney theme, I have a few ideas for what I'd like to see. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves | The Dwarves' Cottage - Priced at approximately US $199.99, this would most likely be a brand store exclusive for both Lego and Disney brand stores. The central build would be of a minifigure scale build of the dwarves' cottage as seen in the film, and would include eight minifigures, composed of Snow White and all seven dwarves, with perhaps a few additional forest animal molds. Atlantis: The Lost Empire | The Ulysses Vs. The Leviathan - Possibly another brand store exclusive, this set would roughly be priced at around US $120-$140. The set's builds would be of UCS Helicarrier scaled display models of the Ulysses submarine and the Atlantian war machine Leviathan, both posed and displayed on a brick build stand with supports. For reference of scale, the front bathysphere of the Ulysses would be a printed, Trans-yellow recolor of the Jurassic World Gyrosphere assembly. Eight figures would come with the set on their own display stand, who would include Milo Thatch, Commander Rourke, Helga Sinclair, Princess Kida Nedakh, Vinny Santorini, Dr. Joshua Sweet, Audrey Ramirez, and Gaëtan "Mole" Molière. Sleeping Beauty | Prince Phillip Vs. Maleficent - A normal retail release, this set would be priced around Us $40-$50. The main build would be of Maleficent in dragon form, with three accompanying minifigures and Prince Phillip's horse. Minifigures would be of Prince Phillip, Princess Aurora, and Maleficent. 101 Dalmatians | Cruella DeVil's Chase - Another normal retail release, this set would be priced at around US $50-$60. The set's builds would be of Cruella's car, the escape lorry, and Horace and Jasper's own lorry. Minifigures would include Cruella DeVil, Horace, Jasper, and the escape lorry's driver, with animal molds including Pongo, Perdy, and at least three dalmatian pups. The Incredibles | The Incredimobile - A normal retail release, this set would be priced at around US $30-$40. The only build in this set would be of The Incredimobile, with four minifigures who would include 1950's Mr. Incredible, 1950's Elastigirl, Buddy, and a crook. As far as Disney villains go, she's probably second to Maleficent, and another top choice I've forgotten to add to my own CMF wishlist.
