  1. The Brick Fan - LEGO Classic 60th Anniversary Walmart Exclusive Sets Revealed 4000028 House 4000029 Windmill 10715 Bricks on a Roll
  2. From the initial rumors, I already liked the sound of the balloon boy, girl, and clown, and they don't really disappoint from what I can see in this image. I certainly like the clown's recolor of Penguin's hat too! But, I wasn't expecting the cake guy to turn out the way he did, and find him to be quite useful from the torso up. It's interesting that he has a newly pegged remake of the original male hairpiece, and his face looks surprisingly like Benny's from The Lego Movie. Besides those four, most of the others have their merits, at least if you pick them (literally) apart. I know that Castle fans will perhaps take a likening to both the Unicorn Knight and the Dragon Suit Guy, as the Knight has a pretty cool shield, while the Dragon Suit Guy is just plain cool as a whole. Also, that Cat Suit one, I do wonder if that figure was intentionally designed with Chima in mind.
  3. Retrofuturistic hovercars? GIMME! With its black and grey color scheme, I'm of course tempted to label this creation as Dieselpunk; but, it is most obviously Atompunk. Perhaps if you were to recolor it in either pink or teal, it would pair up alongside the Downtown Diner quite nicely.
  4. I've never thought of it that way before. That's a pretty good way of putting it.
  5. There is already a broader discussion topic on this movie that was started back in 2015. Eurobricks - The Billion Brick Race The film's initial writer did actually compare it to Cannonball Run, with some Wacky Races mixed into it according to this 2015 interview with him. Nerd Report - Details On The Fourth Lego Sequel 'The Billion Brick Race' I'm surprised we haven't even seen a TT Racers game this whole time, as Mario Kart is definitely a popular videogame series, right?
  6. Those brick costume CMFs are interesting, but rather odd I think. Now birthday boy, on the other hand, looks to make for useful figure. By the way, I'm pretty sure that 1×1 tile he's holding is actually a CMS S1 blind bag.
  7. With the way the theme did turn out, it offers more for Space fans than it seemingly does for Castle fans. Now when we heard some of our first rumors of this theme back in mid-2015, I thought that there was going to be a World of Warcraft like theme in store, as some rumor sources were describing it as "Steampunk-like" (honestly, I still have no idea where they got that notion).
  8. At least Nexo Knights did it right in respect to properly meshing genres, and one of the main reasons I like that theme over Ninjago. The heroes in Nexo Knights at least properly dressed the part, donning whatever nanotech type armor and weaponry that was consistent with their own rides. If Nexo Knights took the approach Ninjago did, the theme would have stuck minifigures from 2013's Castle theme into tanks and called it a day.
  9. Someday, I hope to see the City theme do a moonbase subtheme, as a homage to Classic Space. Given all the places the City theme has gone with its exploration subthemes, I think the moon could be a tangible possibility down the road. For a theme rooted in realism, an outpost on the moon isn't too much of stretch when it comes to tangibility, since many space agencies periodically express their desire to do so every once in a while. Also, City's first Space subtheme was released in 2011, with its second return in 2015; so, if we are to see a Space subtheme from City every four years, perhaps we will see a third return in 2019.
  10. Oh, @PaddyBricksplitter! I love some of that guy's work, and I've never before seen that one of his! Thanks a lot @anothergol!
  11. My biggest nitpicking gripe I have with the Ninjago theme is that it slaps together medieval and modern influences together in a rather tacked on way. At times, the theme has ninjas in colorful, medieval garb piloting vehicles that seem to be powered by modern technology. Why can't you have the medieval ninjas piloting steampunk/clockpunk/DaVinci-punk type technology instead; or visa versa, outfit the ninjas in armored, mecha pilot like suits to fly around in their fighter jets? If that theme aesthetically took either one of those two directions instead, I'd more than likely be on board!
  12. Monster Hunter * Gender: Male. Occupation/print on torso: Dark Brown leather trenchcoat over a Earth Blue vest, with Metallic Copper buckles on the trenchcoat. Hands in Black for contrasting leather gloves. Type of headgear: Butch Cavendish's hat/hair mold recolored with hair in Black, hat in Dark Brown. Type of facial expression: Grizzled smirk with a large scar over one eye. Color on torso/legs: Dual molded Dark Brown legs with Black boots and continuation of trenchcoat prints. Accessory: Traditional crossbow part recolored in Metallic Copper. * My obvious inspiration for this archetype is Hugh Jackman's Van Helsing. That's a pretty cool description you've filled in there, I dig it!
  13. Edit: Here's also an accompanying poster for those who may be interested.
  14. Here are also a few other entries I'd like to share here: Flying Saucer by FredL45 Galactic Enforcer Patrol by Magma Knight Reach for the Stars! by barneius
  15. Though it may be smaller than other demographics that Lego would be catering to mostly, there is a market for themes and genres that are more archetypical and storybook like in their nature. I mean, who's buying all those Playmobil playsets? Couldn't Lego at least do a theme that resembles the "regular" Collectable Minifigure line, as in that it's a collection of one off themed sets? It could start off with six to eight sets, each ranging across a wide spectrum of themes and genres, from Space to Castle, Adventurers to Agents, and even a whole universe of other archetypical genres that Lego has never touched upon before. In other words, all these themes would become subthemes under a large umbrella theme, returning to each of them periodically when wished. That is why I love the Creator theme conceptually, as it can cover everything and anything!
  16. Here are a few contest entries that caught my eye, including one I saw posted here on EB not too long ago! Alien Fighter by JBB_777 Classic Rocket by Mickey Mouse Cosmic Slingshot Rocket by Dalmaster Lego Mtron monowheel by LMF1999 (a.k.a. @LegoMonorailFan)
  17. At least so far, compared to TT produced Lego videogames, four of the five cinematic movies are centered on a original property and/or characters. More likely than not, perhaps sets for both The Lego Movie sequel and The Billion Brick Race will help make up for such an absence of smaller scaled themes and genres, both with an "obscene" amount of sets.
  18. OK, I just looked up that minifigure, and yeah, that is the hat! I don't know how come I never noticed that was a new mold back then in 2014.
  19. 2016's The Legend of Tarzan. Not a bad film to be honest, I kind of liked it. But it did feel like it rushed through some of its critical moments, even the entire climax of the movie. With probably many recent movies, I suspect that the studios end up making a lot of editing cuts to its runtime for brevity, making the movie feel rather incomplete and half baked as a result. In conclusion, I think the movie was brilliant in its concept, flawed and incomplete in its execution. (C+) As for other stuff, I also recently rewatched War for the Planet of the Apes (A+), Pacific Rim (A-), and Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire (B+).
  20. I think the sort of themes that many are mourning the lack of on this discussion are minifigure based action/adventure/historical/sci-fi ones. Nexo Knights and Ninjago just don't compare to the archetypical offerings that 2009 for instance gave us, as they are themes that mash historical and science fictional elements together. Also, they really didn't need a TV show to explain their narrative, as they were archetypically self explanatory to begin with.
  21. Not bad! This is a costumed character that doesn't bug me as much, as he seems fairly reusable beyond that horse of his, which is kind of ingenious in its design anyway. Is that definitely teal (a.k.a. Dark Turquoise) for his vest? Or is it Sand Green? Actually, I think it's a new mold. Which preexisting hat mold are you thinking of?
  22. For all my own issues that I take with "big bang" themes, yes, this supersedes them all. Despite nearly doubling their yearly set output, there's not one smaller scaled, minifigure based action/historical theme amongst them? Well, if Lego has indeed determined that such archetypical genres aren't viable as an entire set line at the time, perhaps a playset theme akin to the "regular" Collectable Minifigure line would instead be the way to go, if you know what I mean.
  23. My gosh, who made that creation? That's just freaking hilarious!
  24. Though it may be simple, I really like this ship, as it has a sort of retro rocketcraft quality to it.
  25. Now even though these hypothetical sets would not include motors, they still would be built within L-Gauge standards, and even include suggested instructions for the motorization of the locomotive build. I'm surprised we haven't seen such a set yet, given how frequent we see train sets done for the Duplo theme. A Juniors train set would be a perfect opportunity to use that narrow gauge track first seen in that 2009 Temple of Doom set!
