Ideas for New Action Themes
Digger of Bricks replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Other than a Dieselpunk/Sky-Fi inspired theme, I'd also hope to see a Steampunk, Jules Verne inspired take on the Adventurers theme, taking after novels of Verne's such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Mysterious Island, Around the World in 80 Days, and From the Earth to the Moon. Perhaps one of the central characters of this theme could be Captain Nemo himself, either as a protagonist or a antagonist. -
Not enough CMF series a year? CMF Rota Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hmm, interesting idea. It's funny, but I had never thought of the JL Anniversary set as a "people pack" before. I suppose the same can be said for Star Wars' Battle Packs/Army Builders.- 72 replies

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes, I certainly like her new Olive Green jacket design, something that has much versatility for repurposing on other generic flesh tone citizens. Probably not, but after looking at that mold again, it sort of looks like it could also be used in minidoll themed sets. Maybe it's just its large feet.- 1,290 replies

If Lego were to seriously rerelease the Emerald Night, I guess in the end I'd prefer it to retain its Earth Green color scheme instead of a Earth Blue or Dark Red recolor. But, the only update I'd seriously would want to see done for the set would be Earth Green recolors of the Black wheels to match the livery of the locomotive. It'd be a reason for fans who already own the original to buy the altered rerelease, as they most likely want the set for those recolored wheels to use in other MOCs!

LEGO Ninjago 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
In a broad definition, yes, I suppose Mad Max and other select Post-Apocalyptic genres can be considered classifiable as Dieselpunk. For those that aren't OCD about retrofuturistic genre classification (like me, I confess), I think that they should only differentiate between Steampunk (pre-1900 futurism), Dieselpunk (WWI to 1970's futurism, broadly speaking), and Cyberpunk (1980's-1990's futurism). If you were though to be specific, there is wide spectrum of many retrofuturistic genres that are all derivatives of Cyberpunk, as outlined in this Wikipedia article: Wikipedia - Cyberpunk Derivatives- 2,384 replies

Not enough CMF series a year? CMF Rota Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Interesting topic @J4ck. However, I believe there is an error in your second question, as you've written that the current regular to licensed CMS ratio is 2 to 1. Both 2017 and 2018 have from what we know a 1 to 2 ratio in regular to licensed CMSs.- 72 replies

DC Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Nether do I, as it would only give us horrid looking figures that many fans wouldn't want anything to do with anyway. The only thing I liked about the trailer was the self deprecating tone bookending its beginning and end. Other than that, the central gist of the trailer was a lame fart joke. But, this movie is apparently the third major Teen Titans related production coming out this year, with a live action TV show adaptation of the comics and the third season of Young Justice both premiering later in 2018. So if anything, all three of those may help make the Teen Titans more relevant in pop culture, therefore increasing the potential possibility of future comic based Teen Titans sets in the near future.- 1,409 replies

Digger of Bricks replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not bad for a Juniors set! You know, I hope to see that new baby Theropod mold recolored/reused in a future CMF, perhaps for a male counterpart to the Series 12 Dino Tracker.- 1,290 replies

From what we've heard so far, it doesn't sound like there will be any other summer sets beyond the three we've heard of, but nonetheless, this is the first trailer for the cinematic Teen Titans Go movie.- 1,409 replies

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
OK, I just found the image elsewhere, and it's pretty much a ditto of that sketch plus a side build and a minifigure of that one new character seen in the trailer. The Carnosaur isn't that big looking I think, but perhaps that image distorts the scale.- 1,290 replies

[PRESS RELEASE] 21313 LEGO Ideas: Ship in a Bottle
Digger of Bricks replied to VBBN's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Personally, I think the size reduction of bottle makes it look a whole lot cleaner, and I like how it turned out. But yes, in turn, the ship got shrunk as a result, and does seem to resemble a polybag build. -

Digger of Bricks replied to Hoth Rebel's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well, the ship looks like it was shrunk in size from the original proposal to fit the downscaled bottle. I do feel sorry for those anticipating this set for the ship primarily, but I myself like the final product for its cleaner looking bottle, as the initial proposal's bottle design looked rather messy I thought. -
DC Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I believe this Batmobile will end up being too large to scale for minifigures, but that wouldn't bother me anyway. Besides, an RC Lego Batmobile is a cool enough idea with or without minifigures.- 1,409 replies

Though I'm grateful that we are so far getting at least one classic CMS a year, I'm not happy that this year's regular series is a "party animal" series of mostly costumed characters (my least favorite type of CMF by the way). So even though the Harry Potter series is a seeming given, I do wish September was giving us a Series 19 instead, as Harry Potter doesn't mean anything to me either.

LEGO Nexo Knights 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The thing is, if we wouldn't see a in-house Space theme because of Disney's Star Wars barrage, then likewise, we wouldn't see Nexo Knights stray anywhere close to Space for the exact same reason.- 1,601 replies

One franchise I didn't add any characters from to my list is Big Hero 6. I'd like to Lego look into that movie sometime in the future, as there is currently a TV show running based upon it. Sure, Lego could at least give both Hiro and Baymax CMF slots in an inevitable second series, but I'd prefer the whole gang made as figures in a line of sets, even if it were just a Juniors subtheme. Baymax in armor could easily be done as an Axl styled figure, with normal minifigure legs and a specialized oversized torso mold to portray his proportions, and a normal minifigure head topping off the figure with a new helmet.

LEGO Ninjago 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Vaguely, but not really. Dieselpunk is more of a alternate historical genre, focused more specifically on retro futuristic reimaginings of 1920's, 1930's, and 1940's. Mad Max is more of a Post Apocalyptic projection of the future from the time the first film was made, back in late 70's/early 80's. Here's a pretty good definition of the genre from this article. How Stuff Works - How Dieselpunk Works Do read the rest of the five page article too, as it is most informative.- 2,384 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2018
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yep, this war rig is Mad Max all the way. Not a hint of Steampunk nor Dieselpunk influence anywhere in at least this set like some have suggested earlier.- 2,384 replies

It should be, as those builds just look so juvenile. But, nonetheless, the sets' age range is suggested for six to twelve year olds. I don't really care about this license or franchise, but, I hope this theme doesn't begin and end with only these two sets, because otherwise Avatar will end up having company.

DC Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
With motorized elements possibly taking up most of the price tag, that's what I'd imagine. Besides, the RC component of the set would make it enough of a sell to both parents and kids with or without minifigures.- 1,409 replies
