I was not at all expecting this from the Arctic subtheme. But honestly, I LOVE it, as how else would we have plausibly expected to see Lego introduce both those creatures within a existing theme? But having said that, it's ironic, as I was just speculating only a little while ago that we could hypothetically see the introduction of both animals from a speculative Ice Age theme, based upon that franchise of animated movies that Disney had acquired from their Fox acquisition. But who knew that they were actually right around the corner?

Thanks for sharing this here Klaus! That's what I'm thinking, as we can at least presume this will be a minifigure scaled set, given its set numbered position above the rollercoaster set, making it hypothetically pricier than the rollercoaster.

Well, while the freight train sounds like it has an interesting color scheme, the passenger train's color scheme of grey and yellow just sounds odd to me. I'm guessing that the grey will be the passenger train's predominant color, with yellow acting as the accenting color. Whoa, sure enough! Its pairing with what is described as a "resort/hotel" sounds like the set is trying to evoke Disney's Epcot.

Well at that price, the suitcase really couldn't be brick built anyway, right?- 8,371 replies

Oooh, I can't wait to see it built! The only thing I would have done though, is instead have the signage read "Jim's Diner", with Jim on the left side of the "jukebox", Diner on the right side to match the name on the door.

I've always heard so many people wish for that, but personally, I think it would look ugly. But, that's coming from me, who thinks that Flash too would be much better looking with a printed head as opposed to the cowl he does have.- 3,962 replies

Whoa, Instagram user mario.power56 has an image of all the box contents for the Ideas Ship in a Bottle set! Those quarter cylinder dome parts... Edit: It looks like he also has an image of a February store calendar with a teaser for the set, simply stating that it's "Coming Soon". -

Brilliant creation! You just don't see three-in-one type creations very often, and I really appreciate its retrofuturistic/vintage toy theme! -
DC Superheroes 2018 - Set Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Perhaps this has already been contemplated before, but after watching Jang's review of the three DC Mighty Micro sets, I sort of appreciate the simplicity of the figures' torso designs. In a way, despite their cartoonish proportions, their simplistic designs evoke the look of minifigure designs pre-1990. So, I suppose if you pair some classic minifigure heads with a particular character's signature hairpiece, then change the short legs with some normal, unprinted ones, then you could have a vaguely classic styled superhero minifigure.- 1,409 replies

That's surprising, as I know of many AFOLs who complain about the overall lack of playsets and the predominance of vehicle based sets instead.- 3,962 replies

By the way @SpiderJazz, none of the sets for this movie wouldn't happen to have any new canopy recolors on any of the vehicles, you know, the kind that Classic Space fans would perhaps be interested in?- 3,962 replies

Who's favorite film composer, and what's your favorite film score? Whether you love the work of composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Horner, Danny Elfman, or Howard Shore for example; or if you only have a particular film score or theme you really like, please share and discuss your favorites here.

I love your blend of new and old fashioned parts on this creation.
-
I kind of could see this happening. Besides, the new rollercoaster system has inclines much like the old monorail system.
-
Well, now THAT is interesting. They could have simply done a normal railroad train, but instead they went with a monorail. Now I've always said that a monorail system would be a much more sleek and chic choice in public transportation over an old-timey traditional rail system for the Friends theme, so maybe...

If we were to see a D2C of Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle around the same time as the earliest hypothesized release date for Disney CMS 2 (January 2020), perhaps by then Lego will have retired the 2016 Cinderella Castle, making such a set a timely replacement/successor. But until then, I do wonder if Lego has a Disney branded D2C in store for this year, since we did see the Castle in 2016, and the POTC Silent Mary following up in 2017. There is a unnamed licensed D2C rumored for 2018 (set no. 71043 at 485€), but most are convinced that it will be for the rumored Harry Potter revival theme.

Where should the next People at the ____ take place?
Digger of Bricks replied to legoman19892's topic in LEGO Town
Given the alpine theme of this year's Police subtheme, and if you can consider the Mining subtheme to be interrelated to that same theme, perhaps this people pack will also be themed as such. If so, maybe they may give us some recolors/reprints of the goat mold, for mountain goats that is. -
A most epic dropship Bob! As always, I love your consistent usage of Bright Red/Dark Red with plenty of curved slopes integrated into your sci-fi creations!

Recently, I've been contemplating something pertaining to Disney's acquisition of Fox. Way back in February of 2016, both 20th Century Fox and Disney had announced their intentions of each producing their own adaptations' of Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Fox had hired Bryan Singer to direct an outright adaptation of the original story, while Disney had signed James Mangold (The Wolverine, Logan) as director of an origin story for the story's main character, Captain Nemo. Deadline - Fox All Aboard On '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea'; Bryan Singer Locks Fall Start Deadline - James Mangold to Helm Disney's 'Captain Nemo' Since then, nothing else has been heard about these productions, so it can be presumed that they're still working on both of them and that they haven't been shelved. But after Disney's acquisition of Fox, I'd imagine that one of these will end up either being shelved or reconsolidated as part of a much larger project. * So, whatever the end result may be, does anyone think that Disney might want to merchandise this movie(s), if its tone is deemed family friendly enough? And if so, do you think Lego might want to produce sets for it? * Personally, I think Disney will end up shelving 20th Century Fox's adaptation, given that its director, Bryan Singer, has been the subject of multiple sexual assault allegations.
