Hi, Have you tried my link again? I decided to take the centre diff out of the gearbox and put it in the F-N-R selector assembly because it is more optimal to do it that way (and easier). I forgot to edit my last topic saying that its no longer in the gearbox, I do however have two smaller 8 speed gearboxes Here is the slightly larger one: https://bricksafe.com/pages/snipe/pimp-my-bugatti-with-center-differential/optimised-8-speed-bugatti-gearbox-v1.5 The slightly smaller one Ill add pictures of soon Note that they still need testing, I don't have the lego racers speedomiter yet so I cant tell if the speeds are unique, and in order. Maybe someone else can test them for now.

and Would indeed be very useful. you can't always just 'leave a pinhole open' because it can still get in the way, so having one pinhole less is a necessity.- 5,504 replies

42083 bugatti chiron. However I think lego technic can be even more complicated, especically with the upcoming spike prime parts. it just means it will be less structurally stable but not "unstable". lego sets are often over-braced/overengineered.

Oh, I see now, yes I was confusing myself. I ran into this problem actually and the only way I can see to fix it would be to put a vertical support bar which would fit into the horizontal slit in pins. this bar would support the embedded axle or pin: another hybrid part solution is just to have a 1L pin or 1L axle with a 1L bar inline with it but those dont fit in the bar-holes of some types of pins.- 5,504 replies

You can, using a little trickery : the notches on the end of a pin are half as thick as the recess in which they snap into, so you would fill the remaining half with plastic which supports the axle.- 5,504 replies

One day :) note that some of the pinholes are occupied but this is just because of limitations of current parts which I used to make the 'concept parts'. They should really be not occupied however. Also the axles that are inline (but not perpendicular to) with the pin holes should be slightly longer to equal 1L.- 5,504 replies

Hi, Can you share the digital file of your 6 speed gearbox with the orange gear shifters. I need a 7 speed gearbox for my MOC so could use this as a starting point. Thanks
-
Hi I have added a center differential into the gearbox like the real car has (according to some sources). https://bricksafe.com/files/snipe/pimp-my-bugatti-with-center-differential/pimp my bugatti chiron with centre diff.mpd The centre differential is bypassed when reverse is selected but that shouldn't matter. Neutural/forward still works just fine. I also have a simplified gearbox but it needs testing (I have to buy a lego RPM-omier) in order to check if there are 7 different ratios. There is actually ample space beside the gearbox on either side for an M or L motor too. I'd like to see this car RC'd but without kicking out its existing functions like the engine or the gearbox. I will probably have a go at this when I have time. Alot of this car has been overbuilt, so simplifying it will make more room for the motors.

Hi, I was wondering how to make a 7 or 8 speed RC gearbox using the new orange gear shifter pieces. I originally started off with a different 'round' form factor gearbox but this, while creative, would have been too hard to mesh together the two shifter axles., so I looked at the bugatti gearbox again and noticed that it might be possible to use a 'rectangular' layout which is the most efficiant, but also to make it smaller. Here is the basic layout, the hard part is adding the main gears to achieve 7 or 8 speeds and without any jamming, SO, I have yet to add those. Maybe some of your ideas would be helpful here because I often just end up confusing myself and jamming gears You can, if neccesary add a few more shafts if 6 is not enough (2 of which can only take idlers because they are used for shifting).

I am basically doing the same idea, the wheelbase will be the same as the bugatti chiron. It will have motorised drive, shifting, steering, ride height, roof (therefore also the engine cover), doors and spoiler Front rear and centre differentials, 4 wheel steering and suspention with ackerman geometry manual shifters, mini w16 engine, LEDs. Powered by 2 or 3 buwizzes Maybe even more complexity will be possible with the upcoming Lego SPIKE PRIME parts The most complex car I have seen is most probably bruno jenson's Mclaren P1 (motorised version) I aim to make each module as simple but reliable as possible, so very low part count. That way there will be space to add everything else Only difference is, I am not making my MOC modular as I think that will be impossible, especically with the advanced bodywork im adding. I am stuck figuring out how to make a 7 speed RC gearbox using the orange rotary shifters. A digital file or PDF of your MOC would be useful in that respect

Hi, How does this work? does it open both doors at the same time if the switch is in the middle position? and left and right doors if the switch is in the respective position to that door. I always wanted to add a motor per door so that you can do it completley remotley but idk if that's possible. I did manage to easily replace the engine with Diederik van Leeuwen's w16 engine :)

Here's another one: This could be used as a trailer hitch because it has two nubs that have slight give in them, so something should be able to snap in between them such as an axle or a 1L bush. So for models such as the lego technic 42078 mack anthem. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=40144&idColor=85#T=C&C=85 -

Hi, If I show my reciept of purchase can I get the digital file sent to me in a PM. I have PM'd the reciept already to save time. I cannot really mod it without the useful features of LDCAD such as part grouping and being able to overlap parts just for ease of use when designing (obvioustly not possible in ldd or real life) I ask because I wanna add a 7 speed RC gearbox in place of some of the motors of the 4 motor drive layout option. I think that would be cool. it may have manual paddles like the chiron but these don't get moved by the shifter motor because of a stepper mechanism. Regards, Snipe

Looks amazing, I like how it actually has real mechanisms like a gearbox and engine, not just motors inside of a pretty body. Maybe you could replace the black 1x2 bricks for the rear tail lights with some sort of black modified brick/plate 1x2, which will hold the fibre optic cable in place. the orange 42083 bugatti chiron gear shifters will also make the gearbox much more compact along with blue 20 tooth clutch gears -
Hi, I thought I should start a thead that will hopefully be pinned indexing as many as the unsusual but useful building tequniques using technic, and sometimes system with technic. These can be useful for example. when either there is no such part to do the job on its own, or if there are space limitations. Here are some of my ideas (more to come) and feel free to add your own!: 1. Meshing a single bevel gear with a regular gear gear: Useul when a doube bevel gear would be too wide but needs to be driven by a normal gear or even a normal gear with a clutch (shown above) This was also useful when the new 20 tooth double bevel idler gear did not exist yet. This should also be possible with other sizes of gears other than the ones shown. 2. 1L or 0.5 L offset to a 3L differential or turntable: This is useful for drivetrains where you might want your wheel axle lower or higher than the driveshaft, eg F1, off roaders. 3: Advanced connectors You can make advanced structures by utilizing the fact that connectors such as the orange one above double as axle joiners and you can also put something in the gap and it will be quite strong.Useful for gearbox housings, etc 4: Half bushing with pinhole: You can use a minifig utensil ring to act like a 0.5L 1x1 beam, i.e a half bushing with pin hole. Useful for all sorts of things. 5: Offset liftarms, steering arms, etc, This technique utilises the 1 brick high bar with a ball joint on the end, this can also be used with pistons or by putting the bar inside the hole of a pin. More to come soon

Hi, When I rotate a part in LDCAD using the arrow keys, parts that I choose from the parts bin are then all also at that rotation, which means they don't line up properly in my model. Is there a way to disable that? Note, I don't mean rotating the parts thumbnails in the parts bin, I mean actual part rotation. :) regards, Snipe.

transparent parts are good cause you can see the mechanisms working more, eg a gearbox made with transparent beams.- 5,504 replies

I assume the pneumatic hoses are used simply for detail in this set? That's a first I think for official lego sets.
