42110 - Land Rover Defender
SNIPE replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have tested almost all wheels and tires and they fit the new hubs perfectly. You sort of can use the new cv joints with the 42056 hubs or the portal hubs by putting the axle of the new male cv joint in the axlehole of the hubs. you would need to then move the wishbones 1L back so they line up with the male cv joint. -

Ok, that's fine then. -
Wow even more compact!, Is there a way to hook up a dedicated axle just to get a single reverse speed though? Like in the 42083 Bugatti Chiron. Also Instructions for the two new versions pls pretty pls :)

42098 - Car Transporter
SNIPE replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Does anyone else's instruction manual cut off the right hand side of the liftarm on page 455, or is this intentional? In any case there were other definite mis-prints so LEGO sent me a new instruction manual. -
42099 Mods and Improvements
SNIPE replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well this is harder than you think. You have to use "specicalized" parts, for example minifig utensil rings, system brackets, etc Even bracing it better is hard due to the types of connectors needed and the fact that the 24 tooth gear catches on most parts. I put compactness in front of rigidity. heres a better version then: I couldnt be bothered to find a system bracket piece but it is essential that it has one. -

42099 Mods and Improvements
SNIPE replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Here is my work in progress on my mod: I added steering to the rear wheels as well as larger shocks. I also changed the gearing of the two drive motors and added a second steering motor. I am aware that the control+ app might not be able to handle a second steering motor yet but its early days. I also kept the ground clearece mods as per effermans lxf file. here is the LXF of my mod (note that it is unfinished) -

Lego 42098 Car Transporter Mods
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very well done for the current MODs of this set. I just finished the car and front trailer of the car transporter and the 42099 so just have the rear trailer to go. I quit reverse engineering it in ldcad and am waiting for somebody to make the mpd file (predictably, probably philo) then I will continue modding it. -
General Part Discussion
SNIPE replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This just gave me an idea, if you change the connectors a bit, can you then mesh a 24 tooth gear to the 8 tooth gear? Youl will lose a little torque and gain some speed but at least it will now work like a portal hub :D- 5,504 replies

Current progrss so far: I have put an 8 speed gearbox with padles in place as well as read wheel steering and a front differential. I hope do add a center differential and adjustable suspention hen make it all RC (shifting, steering, drive, suspention) with a couple of buwizzes. I know parts overlap curently but it is just so see if it will fit in the scale of the model, but also fit where the axles, steering wheel, engine, etc already is. and it does! after moving some stuff about . I need to make a chassis for everything of course and that is the hard part. After removing the offending piecesof the chassis:

Maybe someone will make a 4 port hub so that you can stack connectors. But we must also be aware that too many attachments plugged into one port will create problems

This also works as an "idler" knob wheel: Either inline or at 90 degrees to a knob wheel And you can also put these parts in the barholes of knob wheels: This saves space.

Hi, When I try to edit a reply or thread, tapping to place the blinking caret in the text automatically makes the page scroll to the top, So using eurobricks in this way is impossible. And also after completing a valid user tag (such as @SNIPE) no other character gets printed to the screen any more. I thought making a topic would be the quickest way to being this to attention as it can take months for a recipient to read a PM. The problems happnen on firefox for android but may effect other mobile browsers too. All is fine for PC. Regards, S.
