  1. Absolutely gorgeous building. The combination of various build directions, interesting connections, color and parts usage combines for perfection. Love everything about it.
  2. Was it you that posted that SKU store inventory look up thing in the Series 17 thread? Someone posted a way to check inventory like that (for stores like Target and Walmart) back for the corncob guy series and some were able to find them out on the shelves a few days prior to 'street date' IIRC. TRU probably isn't the best place right now though as their shelves are getting picked clean with the news of impending liquidation but they are having some decent sales on Lego sets. At least my local stores all look pretty wrecked right now.
  3. That's in fact what many find so enjoyable and creatively stimulating about Lego, the limitation of the medium inherently forces one to get creative in making what they want. If one wants true representational perfection then there are better more accurately depictive mediums like hobby scale modeling, drawing, painting and digital rendering. The parts currently available are hardly limited, if what one wants requires new special one-off limited-use molds to achieve convincing accurate portrayal then that's plenty of other fan's peeves; the parts lacking in cross-theme or other-than box-art-application versatility yet requiring a new five to six figure mold and special printing or sticker, it can basically only ever be the one thing its meant to be. And I don't think it ignores minifigures, there are plenty who are piecing together their own figures with the thousands of available prints, colors, faces, hats, accessories and hair available, minifigure customization, third party accessory and printing. That idea of the minifigure as the core and an absolute necessity of Lego is other fan's 'pet peeve' as well, that Lego has become less about actually building and more a vessel for selling minifigures None of these are necessarily my view but rather often posted by other fans. Don't take this the wrong way I'm not disagreeing with you, one can voice their desires for what they want Lego to make all they want. But while on the subject of AFOL community there are a great number of posts that are basically identical cloned opines as if being said by a group of robots. That's probably why the responses to those comments are often so similar as well. Maybe just ignore those responses, like how I ignore those telling other people not to say "Legos" (for the stated reason that its technically incorrect) while watching those same people say "bley" (despite that being technically incorrect as well). We can solve what grinds our gears through ignoring.
  4. Maybe its their way of saying that one can build what they want right now, what's the point in constantly espousing what one wants Lego to build for them? The toy has nearly innumerable connection possibilities, surely whatever one is posting about wanting Lego to make can be created right now by oneself utilizing the several thousand presently available piece/color combinations. Its not like Lego is a human being that's walking around the forums, reading, listening, nodding "yessss" and ready to satisfy those posted desires. Maybe stop waiting and wishing for Lego to sell you heaven and instead try and MOCreate heaven yourself.
  5. That is excellent, the cobblestones compliment the smaller Creator buildings and flower cart and make it feel like a lively side street somewhere in Europe.
  6. I didn't even notice that but it does. That's hilarious. @Digger of Bricks that blue x-wing style craft is especially awesome. With so many new SNOT and curved bricks introduced since many an AFOL dark ages the possibility for retrofuturistic/sleek and smooth-flowing builds has improved significantly.
  7. You make me blush. I'm always interested! I visit this thread upon every Eurobricks journey and it is 100% true to the title of inspiration. You've covered so many of the greatest MOC modulars already but there are a few I'll find again and post here. Keep up the great work, even if not everyone posts the appreciation is visible in the page visits to this thread. A little over 1 month old with nearly 9,000 views, that's interest!
  8. Absolutely amazing. One of the greatest Lego builds of all time.
  9. Those three are fantastic. The graphic design office is a particularly interesting example that a beautiful building can still be done even with a limited and muted color palette to emphasize depth and cosmetic accents.
  10. The snowboard for a spoiler and stud shooter taillights are most excellent and the taillight construction for the black convertible is brilliant. Fantastic use of parts and connections in such a cramped and small scale.
  11. Thanks. I'd like to do a cheesburger food van like the pizza version and a burger shop as well but any shop is way down the line as there are some other modular MODs and MOCs coming first. Thanks. I had initially brick-snot-built the burger buns as well but it didn't look as good as using the more simple round plates and dish piece and was becoming quite top-heavy, so as much as I like SNOT it wound up better with a more simplified construction. Thanks!
  12. I think we may have found it. The Adult Fan of Lego Grand Unified Theme! It took countless hours of message board research funded by dump trucks of flaming VIP points but I believe we may finally have the answer to the most fundamental Lego question in history: how do they satisfy the adults? The perfect universal AFOL theme is... A retrofuturistic Classic Space Castle Pirate Cowboy City. I believe equation can be visually summarized as such:
  13. With all of the various mobile hot dog services (Friends hot dog van, hot dog cart polybag, 'hot noodle dog' cart) I felt like there wasn't enough love for the cheeseburger. So, cheeseburger race car food cart!!! Hey whats the matter guys? ::munch munch munch::
  14. I thought that's what I saw. A woman wearing a Lego logo shirt with a spreadsheet checklist organizing the Lego aisles at TRU with a shopping cart containing damaged/returned boxes. The Lego section never looked so perfect . I am saddened for them at this news as I am all TRU employees and the giraffe I grew up loving.
  15. That is not what was said, you've missed the context of the ongoing conversation (which was quoted for the very reason of context). It was regarding TRU specifically, not Lego in general. I don't think Lego is overpriced, so no, we don't agree. On the one hand there are some issuing the defense of supporting, praising and purchasing counterfeit products by arguing that it fosters competition while at the same time disregarding the impact on choice of vendor and pricing competition that will result when a company that represents at least 20% of the toy retail market is gone (now officially beginning liquidation) sending nearly a quarter of the toy market's sales to be divvied up among the three already-Goliaths of retail (Amazon, Walmart and Target), resulting in less competition, not more. Contradictory sentiments. Is it really about promoting competition or is that argument just a shroud for one being disappointed that they didn't get the deal they wanted on the specific City and Speed Champions items they wanted from that one retailer. Well it doesn't matter anymore because now there's one less option, vendor and thus less competition.
  16. Most excellent MOC. Unmistakable for Unikitty. The opening of her head is very clever indeed and really adds to the design.
  17. But check out the size of this rat, bunny and turkey, sure they can get that big but its legendary status. Also has anyone else's dolphin grown legs, I'm thinking we need to take a second look at Octan wastewater dumping.
  18. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Ice Age when they saw a saber tooth, wooly mammoth and some kind of rodent or sloth (Scrat or Sid). But many Lego animals have been a tad out of scale especially next to minifigures. The old rat mold (like in Pet Shop/Parisian) was rather large as well, the size of a minifigure torso or opossum sized and dwarfs the newer rabbit that comes with the CMF Veterinarian. Lego Friends rabbit is huge as well, giant Flemish rabbit sized. Every lobster is the catch of the year, the spiders are all Goliath bird-eaters on steroids. The seagulls must be well fed as they're practically bald eagle sized compared to a minifigure and so on.
  19. So Lego is rather familiar with some vocal fans then! Notably the homesick obsession with one's childhood themes and the "make this, why won't Lego make that, I want this, they should do that" opines. Basically: we're not sure if repetitious nostalgia grumbling is profitable and you're an adult and the bricks have so much potential so MOC it. Thanks for sharing the interview. Mike is a great designer and quickly becoming a favorite.
  20. Cleaning up that quotation conglomeration is a bit of a hassle; appreciate the effort to make the distinction between what you are responding with in bold but since its all in the same quote box attributed to my name there is still potential for confusion. Please take more care when quoting. You can quote the same post multiple times for multiple quote bubbles and delete the segments you want to respond to individually in succession as opposed to typing directly in the quotation box attributed to other members. Like this: You're quoting from a post from several days ago when the conversation has since progressed and since then I said: I'll take the word that they overpriced; while also having personally experienced rather fantastic sales. I can say I saw plenty of sales and rarely if ever noticed overpricing while you can say SC was overpriced. Both statements can be accurate. I wouldn't know about SC, I've only ever bought one and that section at TRU is rather small due to it being a rather small theme. Maybe they charged more for SC specifically because its not as big a seller in their stores in relation to the demand for shelving space and the other larger more in-demand themes. Don't take it as a personal transgression when someone disagrees with you or shares information that asserts the opposite or points out a fact about one's actions that may cause a moral quandary, so ease up with the sexist microagression.
  21. In the future artificial intelligence will banish all humans to the arctic where we will mine for frozen extinct life forms. Its a highly lucrative business enterprise when the primary currency is non-frozen water and flammable stuff. The frozen fuzzy creatures can be burned which then makes non-frozen water which can then be traded for more frozen fuzzy creatures.
  22. So fantastic!! Watching the progression of this seaside construction has been truly wonderful. So many awesome and creative details and parts usage in this addition. I love every aspect of it. Its so intricate unique and fun. I'll just keep looking at it for a while.
  23. Thanks. Feel free to take any inspiration. Yeah, Earth Blue is one of my favorites but it doesn't work with everything. Also frequently confused with black in less than perfect lighting, so many times I've had to double check. Last changes I promise! I'm done tinkering. Took the chassis apart, ditched the 2x4 technic bricks and the big car plate thing for different 'hub' pieces and regular plates, fixed the suspension rake so its level and extended the chassis by 1 stud from the middle. And now has respectable rally car ground clearance
  24. If they never saw it and it was a true coincidence then no harm, coincidences do happen but I didn't expect it to become brick news as much as @x105Black's very true and funny point. Now there's the story.
  25. Thanks fellow builders! Here's another simple color change I also did last night but didn't have time to do the photos. 'Murica. Or France, or England, or Russia, Chevron, Mobil, anyone using red, white and blue really.
