  1. Amazing work. This train looks beautiful and very true to the real one (have been lucky to be a passenger on one of these a few years ago!).
  2. What the hell.... this thing is HUGE! And chain driven as well? Wow. Looking forward to more pics, maybe some of the innards as well when they are ready.
  3. Interesting. Everyone is either already having a dedicated LEGO room or is planning to move to a bigger home to get one. Seems hardly a single partner has problems with our LEGO addicition... or do they? Mine has already complained a couple times that I need to cut back my LEGO expenses, otherwise our flat will have an overflow of little ABS pieces. And yet I'm still struggling to get a dedicated building place, somehow (let's not talk about organized storage, eh?). Seems I will need to cut back other hobbies to make that real, at least that's what she says Seems I've come to an impass regardings this.
  4. Yepp. That might make sense in bigger builds. But in a 6-wide car? Well... a bit overkill if you ask me
  5. I'd surmise that it sold well because of Christmas. Maybe that is all there is to it...
  6. Ah yes, Modular Train Station, haha... Nice joke! How do folks on the Internet say: Pics or it didn't happen! @Jim Thanks a lot for the insight into a LEGO designer's thoughts. You may not be a mechanic nor a doctor, but a very good interviewer indeed!
  7. Either they keep something for second half of year or they really are cutting train sets down...
  8. Man, this is soooo lovely! Thanks alot for showing!
  9. Hm. I would've expected the older ones to go slower, due to wearout. It's a bit worrying that it is the other way around. This makes me ask myself another question: Are we getting less performance for the same charge with those newer motors?
  10. I'd not suspect a change in internal gearing. Think this is resulting from different motors used inside. Seems the motor itself has less power the later on this motor is manufactured. Any chance of comparing just the motors without carriages? Something along the lines of this test done by Alex Nunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuyOJaH3vGI ?
  11. Dark gray and light gray. Can't stand Dark blueish gray or Light blueish gray...
  12. Such a great idea and very well executed!
  13. Hah, nice one! Funny little engine! I think all metal wheels would work best, power pickup can be done by pickups on the axle.
  14. Well, why not make it "really" modular, with several methods of adding it into an existing layout with modulars? Doesn't matter then if you'd like your station to be left, right, front or behind another existing one... Maybe even make it in a way so it can be broken up into several smaller parts, for those who don't want to install a full-size station.
  15. Hallo Alban! Just wanted to drop a line here as well and send you a very very big Thank you from my side too! At the moment I'm just fiddling with BlueBrick for my private purpose (and still have no permanent layout ), but I'm enjoying it very much. It's so stable and robust. Thank you very much for this beautiful piece of software!
  16. I'm glad they didn't exercise a rolebook "product shoot" where the photo has nothing in common with the end product the customer is buying... Cherrypicking is not very helpful And sometimes I even like those colour variations, gives some rolling stock or building a more weathered look. Alas, this has nothing much to do with Modular Building Rumours any more...
  17. To me it looks as if it is in the bricks (Capt'n Obvious speaking...) @3797 Well, some examples are really way off... Thanks for showing!
  18. Uhhhh, that colour variation on the roof... Is this on purpose or not? :D
  19. @fastlindyrick Nice find! @Mechbuilds I'm not too into Technic, anyhow it's mostly old Technic stuff I own. Any picture or link of those "thin L" shapes? I'm not familiar with those, sorry.
  20. @Robert8 Maybe? I just realized that you can click on "Categories" in the emoticons popup and it shows a lot more than on it's "start screen": Definitely new emoticons to me.
  21. Like @deraven already mentioned: You do not have to have a brick seperator. This happens frequently when my youngster "builds". Later on I'm called in and need to solve this "plate on plate" situation. Just stick any bigger bricks or plates both on top and underside and pry the plates apart with the help of the added LEGO elements. Works like a charm. I'd never let any sharp metal object touch those precious ABS! At topic: Have short technic pins stuck in your Technic bars? Instead of trying to grip that small piece protruding, just take a long Technic pin or an axle and shove the "piece of resistance" out from the other side.
  22. 6523 Rec Cross 6590 Vacation Camper 4543 Railroad Tractor Flatbed 3 classic sets in very good condition, price was good as well (thanks BL )
  23. Interesting livery, nevern seen something like that in Orange-White before Brilliant construction!
  24. I don't know... with already 4 versions of the Hogwart's I don't expect another new release. Not to say that I would be happy about it, anyways. Like I said before, even if it was just for the train parts.
  25. Hehe, those 8-wides are hilarious. Thanks for showing!
