LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

Maxbautde also reports that a new rangefinder piece is coming! Makes sense, since providing an entire bag of accessories every time was kinda excessive, especially for the Boba and Jango minifigs So that’s one more new piece! Not exactly spectacular, but I’ll take it! -

Those two characters were made from existing pieces, so they didn’t affect the budget whatsoever. It’s not like they went “yeah, let’s replace adult Ron & Hermione with random students!”, but more like “we have no budget for more new prints for this set, so who can we include made out of existing pieces?” From this perspective, they were a bonus! Again, what’s the point of remaking the movies if they keep the movie sets, the music, and perhaps even some of the designs? All the remakes I’ve seen tried really hard to set themselves apart, to varying success. As @JeanGreyForever points out, this one appears to be an intentional effort to replace the movies, potentially motivated by a vindictive JKR. -

I like the figure, but it gives me uncanny valley vibes because it looks more like a heavily de-aged Temuera Morrison rather than Daniel Logan Sure, he’s a clone and thus should look like one, but it‘s still a bit weird -

Exactly my point. Movie sets are guaranteed to sell, as the last few years have shown. Show sets might tank and take down the entire theme with them If true, that’s even lazier than I thought How could that NOT be viewed as an attempt to replace the movies? I thought this was supposed to be a new adaptation of the books, hence something with its own identity, not just a remake of the movies, even stealing their imagery. Besides how ludicrous the idea of using a 2 hour movie score to score an 8 hour season is. What are they gonna do, repeat the themes ad nauseam? And John Williams only scored the first two movies. Maybe they’ll only use the main theme and have someone else score the rest, but that’s even more jarring. (Just look at the Obi-Wan series. The rest of the show’s bland music pales in comparison to its main theme by good ol’ John) (And I still can’t believe they want to tell a 2 hour story in 8 hours. The padding will be insane ) -

JK's involvement is one of the main reasons I won't ever support this show, but even ignoring that, I just don't care about a stretched-out retelling of the same story. Less is often more. And if they really do push for the show merch to replace the movie stuff, I'm out, simple as that Speaking of replacing, I can't help but think back to Robbie Coltrane's heartwarming statement about him not being around forever, but Hagrid living on for generations. ... WB: SIKE! SORRY ROBBIE (rest his soul), YOU'RE NOW GETTING REPLACED BY HERCULES FROM THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER! (no offense to Brett Goldstein if the rumour actually pans out) -

Paapa Essiedu is a Brit tho I have no issue with him playing Snape at all, BUT they simply can’t claim book-accuracy here. Snape is described as gaunt and super pale, after all. LEGO gave him a glow-in-the-dark head for crying out loud! John Lithgow as Dumbledore is a strange casting choice for different reasons. Him being American aside, they are awfully optimistic by hiring an almost 80-year old actor for a 7 season show. And yeah, the show making it to 7 seasons is hilariously optimistic too. Which other shows have made it that far in the streaming age?! Amazon may have enough money to produce 5 seasons of a super expensive show with little to no impact, but I doubt WB/HBO do. -

Some D2C sets have only been revealed two weeks before their launch, and if I’m not mistaken, there has been at least one set that finally got revealed on the same day it got released I need to see pics of the interior, so fingers crossed for a reveal early next week! -

I dunno, the walking pose of that custom B1 looks absolutely cursed to me Personally, I don’t mind if they stick to the classic design. The custom’s legs don’t look very sturdy, and unless you place the droids on a baseplate or some other kind of terrain, you either have to pose them in a legs-together stance anyway, or in a walking stance like the one pictured, which looks like it would topple over if you as much as sneezed on the other end of the room The droid figures are already nightmarishly flimsy, and the drawbacks outweigh the potential benefits by a wide margin in my book. -

That was a theatrical release though. My point is that TLG have never made sets for HBO shows before. And making merch based on the show is a pretty big financial risk. Let’s look at three scenarios: They switch to show sets in 2027. Fans of the show will buy the sets, but fans of the movies may be alienated and stop collecting them. This could be pretty devastating, depending on how large those groups are. The reception of the show could go the way of Rings of Power. Risky move, all in all. They stick to the movies. Fans of the show that weren’t fans before would likely buy the existing merch since it will likely look very similar. Existing fans that don’t care about the show will continue as before. No risk at all #3 is a mixed approach that may confuse casual fans, unless the branding is very different. Again, the designs will likely look similar for a bit of nostalgia-baiting (and laziness) And yeah, the “closer to the books” argument to justify the series’ existence has already gone out the window, in light of recent casting news -

@akaseim: It’s heartwarming to hear your family’s enthousiasm for the theme! I wish I was still as excited for the upcoming sets, but I feel LEGO HP has become a victim of its own success and now it’s a lot harder to satisfy fans Most sets are remakes now, which has become inevitable, and they have to get really creative to include minifigs, creatures, and accessories they haven’t already done. The list of missing characters has reached a stage where I’m struggling to get excited for anyone on there Don’t get me wrong, I still adore the theme, but the magic is starting to wear off a bit for me. -

Well, whether the US price is a result of those moronic tariffs can easily be verified once we know the official worldwide prices $270 seems steep compared to the previous two sets, but also not completely out of the ballpark. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. -
DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would really like to know what’s so funny about fake set rumours that people are still spreading them 20+ years later, without even any gimmicks or new spin on it Also, weird idea to try it with DC of all themes. The utter state of the theme makes people suspicious of any good-sounding rumour to begin with, and we’ve been burned before, so everyone’s extra cautious now I mean, is anyone even remotely falling for this? I sure hope so, but to my knowledge, this would mark first time they’ve skipped a movie in a franchise they had the license for, only to revisit it later. (Technically it’s not a revisit if there never was a visit in the first place, but that’s beside the point) Still, it’s possible, but the movie would have to do really well and have some staying power to justify later sets. If the DCU manages to pull in MCU numbers, that will hopefully be enough to convince the higher-ups! -

Yes, some of the pieces have similar enough replacements (like the Aquaman hairpiece for Thorin, Fili, and Kili), but I’d hate for them to cheap out on minifigs that were so well done the first time round If they ever bring the dwarves back for a set, they should go all out and resurrect or update as many of the original pieces as possible. They‘ve done a great job so far with either updating pieces (Gollum, Gimli‘s helmet, orc shield, MoS‘ helmet), repurposing well-fitting existing pieces from other themes (HP goblin hair), or creating new ones (elvish hairpiece, both weapon packs, Sauron‘s helmet). It would be a shame if the same courtesy wasn‘t extended to the dwarves! -

We don’t really know how pricing works though. I doubt they first design the set and then determine the price, but rather the designers get a rough estimate and then design the set within those parameters, likely with a back and forth. The survey leak showed that they work with ranges, at least for D2C sets. So it is possible that the price was always around $250-270, and the designer added the side builds to add value -

Another important factor are the decreasing margins tho, so I wouldn’t count on that When has screentime actually mattered to TLG? As long as they don’t make up random stuff again, it’ll be fine -

Depends. Endgame was a special case because 90% of the screentime was spoilerific, between the time travel plot and the final battle. I doubt Doomsday and Secret Wars will be quite on that level of secrecy. Sure, there will lots of characters and scenes that can’t be included in the first waves of sets, but I’m sure there’s plenty of spoiler-free material too They gotta have trailers, after all! The multiverse heavily factoring in is not a secret, for instance. -

While I definitely would like some Hobbit sets as well, there’s just no way they’d ever include all 13 dwarves in one set Heck, they couldn’t even be bothered to recolour the Hobbit hairpiece in light bluish grey for Bilbo, so what chance would all these resurrected pieces stand? -

Teva, Anzellans, and an Incinerator Trooper are near the top of my Mando wanted list (or SW list in general, actually) and all of them have decent chances to appear in the movie and thus the sets! I hope the actual set list ressembles what you proposed here ^^
