  1. I’m not all that optimistic about it since they’ve basically abandoned FB (even when it comes to the CMF), but I sure hope they release at least one or two more sets on the first two installments at some point. There’s still plenty of desirable characters and fantastic beasts themselves missing
  2. Which didn't really accomplish anything. I doubt the good guys would have lost if the house-elves didn't get involved Some streamlining was necessary for the films, even at the cost of some scenes/subplots book readers may hold dear. Unless you wanted each of them to be a two-parter, that is... And stuffing a story with subplots just for the sake of it isn't necessary IMO. ...looking at you, CoG. Stay in your corner and think about what you did Azkaban is visually striking, but its context alone would make it very tricky to turn that one into a set. I mean it's a high-security prison filled with the worst scum in the HP universe. Imagine the description of the play function: "Pull the switch to knock out the wall and help the convicted murderers and torturers escape and wreak havoc"
  3. Nah, I've read the first four completely and parts of the others and enjoyed each of the films much more. Just my opinion of course, but the filmmakers thankfully cut a lot of what I felt to be unnecessary subplots that ultimately went nowhere (like that weird one with the house-elves or the Barty Crouch Jr. switcheroo). That's why I'm glad Steve Kloves is back as a co-writer for FB3, his non-involvement was definitely noticeable in CoG
  4. I don’t get that, in what way does Mario replace HS? It’s just a theme that starts the same year another one ends, that’s like saying that Minions replaced Toy Story 4 Besides, it is well known that the Mario theme has been in development for multiple years, potentially longer than HS
  5. You can try it, but don't expect that question to be picked Or maybe they will simply select dream sets that have no chances of ever becoming real, like the Death Eaters' destruction of the Millennium Bridge or something equally ludicrous, just to troll you
  6. Denying others basic human rights is not just a matter of "disagreeing", y'know If that's hilarious to you, that says a lot about you tbh I think we should go back to topic though before the mods have to step in again
  7. You have to separate the art from the artist, and in this case it's not that hard because the sets are based on the films and not the books. I love the HP films (couldn't care less about the books) and I don't let JKR's hateful views destroy my enjoyment of them Sneaky, but they're not gonna fall for that Asking anything even vaguely related to upcoming sets is just a wasted question
  8. Could be, but I can't think of a single instance where a set's designer didn't present it themselves in the designer video I realise not everyone is equally comfortable in front of a camera (I know I wouldn't be if I was in that position), but to me, that's a big part of the charm of these videos. They're not manufactured corporate PR monstrosities, they feel very genuine and down to earth. And some of them are genuinely hilarious, like the fake 80's TV show thing they did for The Upside Down or the video for this year's Haunted House set with Carl Merriam cosplaying as Baron von Barron I hope the designer video will be on the same level as these two
  9. That’s interesting, I thought he once said he didn’t have as much time anymore for set designing as before, but apparently he’s still very actively involved I’d be very glad if he was the designer as I’m a huge fan of the sets he designed, particularly the Ewok Village, the Simpsons House, the Disney Castle and the Ghostbusters HQ. Alternatively, I’d also be very happy if it was designed by Justin Ramsden. His body of work includes some favourites as well (Hogwarts, The Upside Down and Apocalypseburg). Or better yet, a collaboration between the two Edit: I’ve just thought of something: could there be VIP early access for this set? That would explain the VIP-exclusivity of the Q&A as well as the surprisingly early teaser
  10. @Fuppylodders: thank you for elaborating on your point of view I agree that most of the arguments for either position are mostly conjecture at the moment. When it comes to the conclusions we draw from the info we have, we probably have to agree to disagree That’s what I’m wondering about as well. I thought he didn’t have much time for actual set designing anymore after his promotion, but maybe this is an exception And if he’s not the designer, why wouldn’t the actual designer be available for the Q&A?
  11. That one at least had a UCS version and was part of the recent DSII GWP
  12. Or maybe they simply didn’t want to disclose the real reason: that the last one bombed so hard (pun definitely intended) they don’t want to release another minifig-scaled one ever again I’m only semi-kidding here, I mean why hasn’t there been another version in 17 years? If that one had been a success, we surely would’ve had more than one remake since then. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it the only OT set since the theme started that never got a single remake?
  13. Everything, huh? How about a 400$ microscale Millennium Falcon? I’m waiting As @Bowtruckle44 has pointed out, they don’t have the best track record right now, so this can be savely dismissed
  14. Of course the microscale sets aren‘t in exact scale to one another, that‘s not even the case for system-scale sets That wasn‘t the point. What I’m getting at is that the D2C set has to be significantly larger than the GWP set, in fact so large it practically has to be minifig-scale (unless the set includes 20+ buildings). There’s just nothing in between. Or do you suggest they invent a completely new scale for this set that’s too large for nanofigs yet too small for minifigs at the same time and thus not compatible with either of them? What would even be the point of that? People keep saying it’s possible, but I’m not acknowledging that possibility unless someone shows me a MOC worth 400$ in that supposed scale. Doesn’t have to be based on DA, but I’m not willing to maintain that option unless someone can prove it’s possible 6-7 years is awfully optimistic, we don’t even know if this theme survives past 2021
  15. The „too niche“ comment isn‘t necessarily wrong though The TIE Bomber did lose the UCS competition by a long shot, hasn‘t been redone since 2003 (which there has to be reason for, probably sold so badly it scared them off for life) and it does have less screentime than the Night Buzzard. And the I-TS at least has a presence at Galaxy‘s Edge, that‘s more than you can say for the TIE Bomber
  16. Just a heads-up: all of the 2018 sets and most of the 2019 selection will reach EOL by the end of the year, so make sure you get the sets you still want https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-end-of-life-eol-2020/#lego-harry-potter
  17. I don‘t know if this is news to you, but HS is apparently toast since all of the sets will reach EOL by the end of the year: https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-end-of-life-eol-2020/ RIP
  18. Pretty likely since TLG clearly isn‘t afraid of introducing new moulds in D2C sets anymore, but the problem is that I can’t think of much that actually requires a new mould in the first place Maybe a new hairpiece for Lockhart if he shows up in the set, but he‘s pretty likely to appear in the CMF series as well, so it wouldn‘t count. Or maybe a new hair/hat combo piece for the CoS version of Arthur? Or perhaps I need to think outside the minifig box
  19. That‘s not the point, the point is the scale. The GWP is microscale and can only be turned into a 400$ set if you A) add more buildings in the same scale which would be ludricous because that would include part of London or B) make the buildings larger which by definition changes the scale, so it‘s not microscale anymore. You cannot increase the scale and simultaneously claim it’s still the same scale, that makes absolutely no sense. That‘s what I‘ve been saying for MONTHS now but somehow people keep ignoring it We‘ve been over this before, too That approach would take far too long (at least 6-7 years to get anywhere) and would result in people missing sets since the first couple of sets would long have reached EOL by the time the 4th or 5th one comes out. Moreover, a lot of the shops are too niche as their own sets and are far better suited as parts of a larger set. And do you really want a DA that takes the better half of a decade to complete AND end up with an even larger army of Harrys? Cause they would definitely shove him into every single one of them
  20. JW:D might have resumed filming (and the set images definitely look interesting, no spoilers ), but there are rumours that No Time to Die could be pushed back from November to next summer, which would endanger JW:D‘s slated release date, seeing how both are Universal productions. All things considered, JW:D is not guaranteed to be released next summer, which would have repercussions for the sets too. Allegedly, Universal will decide about NTTD soon, so if JW:D does get pushed back too, there should be enough time for TLG to come up with a replacement wave. After all, they surely don‘t want another Minions situation on their hands
  21. So you expect the buildings to be even smaller than in the GWP? Because if you want DA to truly be in scale with 71043, you‘d have to shrink them even further You really do want them to include half of London, don‘t you
  22. I‘m not opposed to discussing new ideas, far from it, but they have to be at least somewhat plausible TLG will never release dinosaurs separately since removing one of the major selling points from the sets is definitely not what I would call a smart business idea. That‘s if they started to sell minifigs included in the larger Star Wars sets for 3$ or suddely made the CMF bags transparent And next year will in all likelihood be dominated by Dominion sets, there‘s no way around that. If the theme continues into 2022, we might see sets based on other parts of the franchise.
  23. It‘s not microscale anymore if you change the scale, simple as that Microscale doesn‘t mean „anything smaller than system-scale“, it means in scale with nanofigs, which the GWP DA already is. There’s a reason we primarily refer to sets that include nanofigs as microscale (Helicarrier, Hogwarts, Apollo V, ISS). Moreover, the Millennium Falcon comparison doesn‘t work since refering to the UCS set as „system-scale“ makes no sense. The UCS set is in actual realistic scale to minifigs, which happens very rarely due to size limitations, while the other versions are system-scale, which ISN’T minifig-scale.
  24. However, it can be dismissed because of this tiny little insignificant thing I keep bringing up every time the microscale discussion pops up again: WE ALREADY HAVE A MICROSCALE DIAGON ALLEY GAHHHHHHHHH
  25. I guess some people were really traumatised by the Hogwarts D2C being microscale At least that one made sense Dang, that‘s one real and reliable sounding algorithm! Can I borrow it for my dissertation?
