  1. I like that the D2C set is based on the studio set while the playsets are more based on the theme park Sets them apart nicely ^^
  2. The culprit is back at the scene of the crime!!! THE TURTLY ONE HAS RETURNED!!
  3. Have we learned nothing from Jurassic Park? A wolf with some Frankensteinian genetic modifications ain’t a direwolf. Finally introducing pigeons is such a neat idea! The inhabitants of LEGO City will now learn what living in a real city is like
  4. The minifigs are Ron, Hermione, Cho, Fortescue, a Gryffindor Quidditch player (Angelina?), and a random witch with Sprout’s hat/hairpiece Decent selection!
  5. According to @Brick Clicker, the Hogsmeade set is gonna be $380, so almost as much as DA
  6. Pictures of all May releases are out now! Kylo‘s helmet and Shuttle both look cool, and the Brickheadz of Grievous and the Senate are among my new favourites
  7. Well yeah, the real value of anything is what people are willing to pay for it Since most people seem to sell it for ~$50 on Bricklink, that seems to be where we‘re currently at, which is still double its „official“ worth.
  8. Of course it is, like any Turtly discussion before it His superpower is inspiring silly discussions that never go anywhere.
  9. Very unlikely, given the show‘s reception The Exile II with all the main characters would‘ve been great, but that‘s now out the Windu I‘m afraid.
  10. My stance on reselling is this: an increase in price is justified, if the seller adds value. In terms of collecting, this means taking good care of the set (like keeping the box in good condition over multiple years etc). So asking a (reasonably) higher price for an old set is justified in my eyes Selling a GWP for five times its actual value 2 days after launch is certainly NOT. So yeah, agreed, that‘s just plain greed.
  11. Both of them have 40xxx set numbers, meaning they‘re very limited LEGO exclusives. Not sure how that‘s supposed to be an indication of desperation, they‘re just fun holiday sets
  12. You got rid of your beloved Shadow Boxes?? You monster!!
  13. So stupid. Love it Good replacement for the AC in my book!
  14. I didn’t think the 2015 model could be surpassed, but they did it! Love all the details, both on the exterior and interior And the seismic charge looks excellent!
  15. I imagine very few people actually care about this set, as it’s just another boring Batmobile with a boring Man minifig I’ll get it for the sake of completion, but my excitement is asymptotic to 0.
  16. It’s the Aslume. This ceased to be a pure DC thread a loooooooooong time ago
  17. Considering that IG-12 was A) the first thing to leak from S3, B) falsely rumoured to be a set, and C) a friggin MECH, it’s baffling it wasn’t featured in any of the sets! Maybe they were struggling to make it work scale-wise
  18. That was also in the late 90s, just before TLG almost went bankrupt, and they were a much smaller company back then. It’s thus not unthinkable that the Indy sets sold much better than Adventurers did, despite their shorter run No offense to good ol’ Johnny (especially since Adventurers was my favourite theme as a kid), but who needs an expy if you can have the original?
  19. That was a nice inclusion and a fun retcon on TLG’s part since she undeniably was present at Hogwarts for the events of CoS, given she’s only a year younger than the trio Just like the first LEGO game retconned Sinistra’s and Vector’s movie appearances and how Kettleburn will soon be retconned into PS as well
  20. You make it sound as if that’s a fact And don’t tell me they’re “objectively bad” It’s still in the top 5 themes in every financial report they put out. And if sales dropped, they’d reduce the number of sets, which they clearly don’t. Also, there’s gonna be the first $1000 set soon. They obviously wouldn’t do that for a dying theme
  21. My guess is along with the next trailer. After all, we haven’t seen Galactus fully yet!
  22. Granted, the fans asking for smaller sets probably aren’t the exact same people wanting the Shire to be bigger (though with some overlap). It’s still strange. Fans on the whole are just hard to please, I guess
  23. Fair enough. The theme as a whole has a much more balanced female-to-male-minifig-ratio than any other licensed theme, but they could still include more Hermiones, Lunas, Ginnys, Chos, Patil twins, or other female students in smaller sets ^^
  24. Fair enough. Sure, plenty of licenses also last shorter than 3 years, but that’s often by design. However, my point is that these themes clearly didn’t reach the 3-year plan which TLG usually have for their “big bang” themes, like Exo Force before them and Ninjago, Nexo Knights, Monkie Kid, and Dreamzzz after them. Power Miners and Atlantis also have a weird thing in common where they introduced new colour schemes and elaborate new enemy designs in a 1HY wave, only for the themes to then be discontinued without a 2HY wave even This indicates something went wrong sales-wise, no?
  25. Just look at what Power Miners, Atlantis, Ultra Agents, Monster Fighters, Hidden Side, and Pharao‘s Quest all had in common: none of them made it further than two years, indicating somewhat sluggish sales. Doesn‘t exactly inspire confidence in immediately trying again, does it? Licensed themes come with a built-in fanbase whereas in-house themes need to accumulate fans first, and that‘s pretty risky. And expensive. As others have pointed out, developping a cohesive world takes huge effort, and then there are all the specialised pieces in-house themes usually get in way larger quantities than most licensed themes even. I’m not advocating against having more in-house themes, but most of them simply cannot compete with their licensed counterparts
