[MOC] Bree and the Buckleberry Ferry
Littleworlds replied to norlego's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I wish I could see it IRL! This is really amazing. Lovely work with the foliage and landscaping. It has a very naturalistic "flow". The water-effect is very impressive as well. Colours and texture just mimic a river surface nearly perfectly. Also nice to see the houses (great tudoring btw.) at "off-the-grid" angles. Adds to the organic feel. Just the gate looks a bit plain to me. Everything else - brilliant.- 10 replies

Beautiful! It shows that a good MOC doesn't has to be gigantic. To the contrary: the strengths of it are refinement, elegance and effective use of space. The council of elrond-elements do very well too as they are. It was such a beautiful set!

Times are changing and the wider user-base Eurobricks has today simply reflects the wider media-attention Lego as a brand has. That is - if you ask me - a good thing. The opposite would mean that Lego (and/or Eurobricks) lost its relevance and is a dwindling into obscurity. I don't think anybody wants that, so lets be happy we have many members here. Sure, a more "intimate" forum with maybe a couple hundred or thousand users has its appeal. I was active in places like that before. Sadly most of them are gone now. Probably because the reason stated above. I can understand though that a lot of the content posted today is not interesting for everybody. Actually there are some quite distinct groups of users around here, with often very defined interests and also often little overlap to other groups. Thats not necessarily a bad thing. If I am not interested in the latest SW-rumours, I don't have to read these threads. And I don't. Problem solved. Getting elitist is certainly not the right answer. Rather a recipe to kill off a forum effectively and quick. If only the old regulars "get the joke", new blood won't feel welcome. If a forum is inclusive and welcoming, people might stick around and even if they came because of a certain (niche-)interest, they might eventually expand their horizon and find out what else there is. Same applies for "veteran users": look outside your box. Diversity is good! This said, in reality there is often very little appreciation/interest towards new members. Dropping a friendly line or two in a welcoming thread isn't a big thing and costs maybe just a minute or two, but might make newbies feel a bit more at home. Same about MOCs. I said it before, and others did as well, but I feel it can't be stressed enough. Feedback is essential to keep MOCer posting. Show them you care about their creations, or they move somewhere else where they get it. And yes, there are the occassional attention-seekers, but don't throw away the whole basket... As for reddit, instagram and such: Yes, the internet isn't the same place it was 10 years ago. The big era of blogs came and went and forums too have peaked. Interaction seems to have become simpler, probably related to the omipresence the internet has in today's society. When something is "special", or even "underground", the dedication of the individuals who identify with it, is higher than when something hits the mainstream. Convenience seems more important now and social media platforms offer now one place for everything and are therefore a serious threat to more classical forums like EB. Maybe more accessibility and possibilities for interaction are an answer? Perhaps combined with exclusive content for members to give incentive to log in and be around? Just some thoughts here...

That video really gave me shivers. Great to see B5 is still loved and that it inspires people to build such beautiful models. Excellent work. And more please!

Nice take on the Mini. The front grille has really a nice shaping and being 5-studs wide it is more complex than it seems on first glance! I would consider using smaller wheels though. Maybe the late 80s/early 90s car wheels, and maybe use studless tiles for the roof, since the car body is so nicely smooth.

Excellent facades! The ornamentations show some really good ideas and give the buildings, together with the quite striking colours and silhouettes, a lot personality. I don't know about the studs-out corner-building though. I might have preferred something with grey-ingot pieces instead. I would also love to see your building having interior as well.

Hello Christian, welcome to Eurobricks! Nice to see someone is coming back to Lego, getting really inspired and is building their own models. Please feel free to share pictures of them. I'm a big Star Trek and B5 fan myself, so you definitely got my attention here.

Ok, here's mine. Honest answers, as always Sure, I probably wont build something, but they are usually quite interesting. I don't need them really and I think they are just for ego-pampering. Not really. I found the photography tutorials quite useful, but was unable to find them last time I looked. No. No. Occasionally, Wordpress. It depends. It is certainly easier to communicate if the thread's topic is narrowed down to a degree.Too broadly threads can meander out quite a lot. Unread content.

This city-square-set is quite intriguing. Ok, the buildings are pretty basic, but thats to be expected in the city line. The bus and all the tiny bits do look really sweet though. A busy set with a lot of play/display value. If the pricing is within reason, I'm starting to get really excited. All in all, so far the 2018 sets make a really good impression to me. Good to see!

I am a "relatively" new member still, so I can't really tell how it was a few years ago, but I find it a shame that excellent and inventive MOCs often get no comments at all, or just very few. Of course we can't force people to appreciate them, and honest c&c is better than just generic praisal - but it would be nice to see interest in MOCs increase.

Lovely! It certainly has this vintage-vibe to it. The furniture has some lovely detailing and I like the clever use of the door-piece and the oldschool fuel nozzle. Also having the table at an angle gives an effective visual break - really cool.

What theme is good to post here
Littleworlds replied to Iminifig Tube's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hello and welcome to Eurobricks! Your counter shows that you have made already some posts, but I don't think I have seen any of them. Generally speaking, there are a lot of MOCs (fan-creations) posted in the licensed-area (like Star Wars, Marvel, to name the busiest ones) and there were never any issues with copyright whatsoever. Therefore I think it is fine to post them, if they are non-commercial projects and follow the TOS of this forum, of course. -
Very cool character. She looks very cute and has just enough detailing to have personality. Lovely modelled hair too and her pose is so dynamic, I just wait for her to twist and fire that blaster at some galactic criminals. Great work!

Very cool! When I read the thread-title, I had a certain picture already in my mind. I'm glad to see that my expectations were completely mislead. Great idea combining technology and nature this way. And the building ideas are really impressive as well: I like the platform support a lot and of course the brick-built palm tree. Good thematic contrasts, top-notch building - excellent MOC!

Very cute! Nice slipstreamy shape and I like the way yo did the bumpers at the front. As if these parts were made for it. -
And I thought the pirate roller coaster would be all there is... not that its a bad set. Very much to the contrary, but this one is really something else. Pricewise way too high to be considered (I prefer more smaller, and fewer big sets) but nevertheless a superb set, that indeed looks quite properly Lego. I also dont really recommend just comparing the sheer piece-count, since that can be quite misleading. The tracks and wagons are still very recent pieces, and quite complex ones too. Certainly more difficult to manufacture than regular bricks and plates.

Looks brilliant! The complexity of the shaping and attention to detail is really impressive. And its also supercute. Splendid work. -
This looks really good! Lovely facade-shaping and colour combinations. Neat and tasteful like a painting. The cobblestones are a lovely detail too with nice natural bumpiness. The fishmonger wants some more colour though. Maybe light blue for the interior?

A hospital! Its quite a surprise to me to see a set like that again, but it really fits in the recent direction of having more large-ish buildings again and a bit less emphasis on vehicles/smaller modules. This definitely goes into the right direction. Needs some MOCing though to be more displayable, but as a play-set, this offers already a lot. Is anything known about the pricing yet?

its a lovely set still and you still get a lot of pirate/pirate compatible pieces. Plus kids and a teddy bear. Seriously, I really like this set. Its really a great idea and the execution works very good as well. I expect kids playgrounds with it popping up soon.

Hi there! Welcome to Eurobricks! Looking at your layout, I think it suffers a bit from you wanting too much on too little space. The marina for itself, for example is a lovely idea, but the road runs so close to it. There is no space that separates them a little, like a walkway, some palmtrees and/or a patch of beach or a wall would do. I would set the road back and move the buildings on the rear to the sides, to spread it all out a bit more and give some more air to breathe. Adding a pier leading into the water could also gain some useable area. The heavy loader set and the Space Shuttle are a bit more tricky to implement. As deraven said, it depends what you want to do. If its supposed to be a town-layout, then they would be quite out of place. If its supposed to be more industrial, it could work. The shuttle should be still quite separated from the public places though. Optionally you could just change the layout to a certain theme every couple of weeks/months.

Beautiful! It transports such a happy and warm feeling. Construction and colours make it look very authentic. Lots of interesting details too. The tennis-racket chairs, for example. Clever idea! The only thing I would maybe add would be a busker.

Epic, super impressive madness!

I love it! Its such a charming project. The station is beautifully built and the characters (and their hilarious names) really add a lot of life and atmosphere to it. Great!
