I disagree with the police station-argument: yes, they release a new one every couple of years, but also their target audience is changing pretty rapidly. As long as children are born, they will need toys. And for every kid it will be something new. For us AFOLs it might be the 10th police station we see on the shelves, but not for the kids.

I don't really get the point of the post. Ever since TLG was producing Minifigs there was a present-day urban play theme. Whether it has been called town, or city or anything else is not really relevant. City is probably the most suiting name a city/town-related set can have, since its pretty universally understood in the world. If police sets wouldn't sell (don't expect that to happen), they would release other under that theme. Its not like its exclusively police anyway - well not completely at least

Hello and welcome to Eurobricks! I think Lego is one of the most fun and positive hobbies to have - regardless of when in your life you do it.

They are really adorable! If TLG ever wants to make some small anniversary sets, a couple of them would be just perfect!
-
This is quite brilliant. Lovely frame structure with the different shades of brown giving it a proper wood-feel. Excellently done!

Hello Fabio! Welcome to Eurobricks

Looks excellent! So lovely evil I especially like the construction of the legs and the tilted cockpit that gives it a nice threatening stance.

A few questions to start Lego journey with my son
Littleworlds replied to groovybug's topic in General LEGO Discussion
To 1: I think having more "exotic" pieces together can help a lot, without making things overorganized. Searching can also be a quite calming experience and can be a good exercise in patience and focusing, within reason. 2: It really depends. Some sets are quite in demand, while others get generously discounted even while still on the (virtual or physical) shelves. Generally the ones with popular minifigures stay quite stable in price and often get up on the second market. When buying new it helps to keep an eye on sites like Amazon for special offers. Especially towards the end of the products shelf-life prices come often down significantly. -
I'm happy to hear that. It would be very interesting indeed to read your results!

This looks excellent! Lovely woodworking details and furnishing!

Now thats really something! The ship looks superb with its trussing and all. Very lifelike. The whole scene could come straight from a film with Errol Flynn. Awesome!

I second all of the above. Do some free, fun and creative building - and you can't go wrong really! -
Hello! There seems to be an issue on page 5 of the survey. When I tick more than one box of a column, as in giving more than one criteria the same adjective, I get an error message. I don't think that's how the survey is intended to work

I'm looking forward to see the updates.

I just stumbled over you post and wow! Excellent photos. Especially the low angle ones at the end. These are really spectacular. Perfect composition of the scenes! The ground level building is lushly detailed and makes a great environment where the Minifigs can interact with. The tower itself looks a bit bare to me though. I know, it is supposed to be a smooth black obsidian-like rock, but I would give it some more surface texture; maybe more vertical relief.

This is so charming! Lovely built and he looks absolutely spot on as well.

POV-Ray surface realism
Littleworlds replied to Dilvish's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I like the transparency on pictures 4 and 5, but the reflections on solid pieces, especially the road is way too much on those. I think what would make the builds more realistic are displacement and/or bumpmapping. Every real brick is slightly different from each other which gives a not-quiet even surface and can create a wonderful sense of scale on pictures. If that is possible to render, that would be amazing. Apart from that, the lighting doesn't looks particularily realistic on the renders too. Too sterile and flat. -
Just spectacular. It doesn't only impresses by its sheer size, but even more so by making an interesting build full of details and diversity out of it, that is just a pleasure to explore. And the lights, what can I say, they lift it to another level really. Awesome project!

Really cool. I like how you made the monster flower. Makes it look wild and lively. Well done! The surrounding vegetation is a tad too regular for my taste though. I would also add some roots of the main plant on the ground like overgrown tentacles (just as the trunk has), to make it look even bigger and more menacing.

Welcome to Eurobricks! I am a bit of an allrounder too and often buy sets simply from their visual appeal and not for a certain theme. When it comes to legoness - I think I know what you mean: Lego is just irresistably cute and playful, isn't it?

Thats a really lovely interior with some neat use of pieces. Its maybe all a bit on the tall side for Minifigs, but so well detailed. Good work and a really charming nurse who helped her patient to ermm... get his life back together. Sort of. -
That baseplate looked like the most difficult part of all to pull off! Seriously, its just right as it is now.
-
Very cool! I tinkered with something like that made from a microfighter Y-wing, but yours so much more refined! Especially the rocking mechanism. I might take some inspiration from it!

Ha! This looks really awesome. You got a perfect look with such a simple but effective built. Love it!
