I was having a chat with Maxim I, and we both couldn't really come up with an answer http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118542#entry2432692 What actually is 'well rounded' ? Trade, Fast, Attack, are perfectly clear, (to me) if I search the dictionary, it makes references to well rounded ladies. And even though ships are she's I don't think that is the answer. (If some one knows the Dutch term for 'well rounded' that would be an answer too) Bart

[COR-FB 3]The Emporium's Delivery Service
Bart replied to CelesAurivern's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The wagon has a good design. I would have went with a bit more colour though, maybe the raillings on the side in the company colours? I thought Dubloons (db) where bothe the inside currency as the currency we players have.- 14 replies

Uhm nope, not even then. They never had them, no historic reverence to horned helmets, no specimen ever found. The idea of horned helmets comes from the Wagner opera Walkure 1870. So it's fan fiction and the world went with it. But enough of that, this is Lego :)

[ESL - Ch1 Cat B] Ruins in the jungle
Bart replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
There is a lot going on. Your rockwork is complicated, the vegetaion is diverse, good good. And I really like the big flowers. This cutting down the jungle and planing orchards is going to backfire someday you know. :p- 12 replies

Lovely idea, and well executed.

Vikings? Vikings! Why not! The story suits the world of BoBS. Great job on the ship, how it is buried. As an amature history lover, I'm not very fond of the shiny horned helmets. But I guess lego went with the stereo type. Did you take the history of the kingdom of the great raiders out of the given information (I admit I did not fully read the history and stories) or made it up your self?

question when do I pay for a building? I build two so far (warehouse and brothel) but I was under the impression the first two every month are free ? so any new building would cost me dubloons, correct? both first and second buildings give me 10db just because I build them what about a third? I can't really find it an the threads with rules

Phred, I totally forgot to say this is a very nice build, loads going on on deck, I like it :) Further I'd say this is a Cutter. Anyway that is what wikipedia says, if you follow all the links you'll have read a whole lot of information and be a little wiser. My conclusion back in the day they didn't know either, every navy and country called a ship a different name and had different rules for classification. Which may or may not change over time. When you google 'topsail cutter' and 'topsail sloop' you'll get the same images. All looking like what Phred build.

Nice build, above and below the surface. I like the shape of the canoe question, as it appears you shaped it on purpose, what are the trans bricks behind the swimmer underwater?

Yes those existed. You can find them near the end (schooner time) of the age of sail in the Dutch merchant navy. Because a frigate type hull could hold more cargo, then a klipper or schooner hull. But a schooner rig required less crew. (Just 9) So they sacrificed a bit of speed to more cargo space. But saved money on crew costs (Sounds as Dutch as can be) The rest about the sloop and frigate and cutter is correct. There is every more fuzziness if you trough all the merchant ship types and basterd types in the mix. (And the evolvment of the names to theme current time.) Sloop always confuses me, because in Dutch we call a ship's rowing boat 'sloep' (same pronunciation) It is my understanding that cutter came (partially) from 'kotter' a Dutch fishing vessel. They flew extra headsails in order to help draw the nets. Bart

I should have a ship after I finish challenge 2, so next month I'm able to join the MCRA. For those really curious I'm building a Koff. :)

Huh? I've to pay rent for my warehouse in Nova Terreli - Nellisa and my tavern+ in Bastion ? (Bastion doesn't even have a city tread or a mayor yet, lol...)- 897 replies

I can wait. Just exploring the options. In the mean time, there is a warehouse in Nova Terreli - Nellisa, where you can do buisness at very profitable rates. Just ask for Jacob.

Build in Jan. Yielding in Feb. Sounds good to me. For the reasons MKJoshA gives. You already get a few db (10) for building it.

Hmm I can already do that. So that doesn't really sound as an advantage :)
-
You say open to everyone, how do you envision a free not bound captain (pirate) becoming a member? How would that work?
-
I know buildings (plantation/artisan/commerce/ etc) generate doubloons every month too. but I've build two things in January, those being freebuilds they earn me a +10 db. but the monthly yield will that be in January or will it start in February? but does the amount of doubloons an warehouse makes also depend on how often that town is visited during the MRCA ?
