  1. Hello all, well I been playing around in LDD a bit. and decided I want to build a castle. but not wanting to get lost in interior details, I'll be focusing on the outside looks. but I'd like your opinion/input. As you can see I'm going for a brick build image with a staircase facade on this building. on the left (big door) the main hall, and on the right the living space for the castle lord. my question at this point, the grey tiles on the staircase facade, yes or no? I'm still experimenting with small dormers on the roof (this side) greetings Bart
  2. Looking at that last picture you linked to, I think the optical illusion is also due to the fact that in real ships, the windows aren't square, but have the shape of a parallelogram which to be made out of Lego bricks is virtually impossible. But maybe raising it a plate, will do the trick, for the looks. If its not to big of a trouble, give it a try, the people here will respond ;) I think you may say you reached your goal, building a full hull ship using cb-4 his (or is it her? I don't know) cb-4 's technique, and making it work and look awesome. people here just really like to see ships get finished with masts and rigging and stuff. greetings Bart
  3. actually the window doesn't slope down. look at the black line, that stays horizontal. (parallel to the deck) so the base of the window stays parallel to the deck as well if you take a picture with the lens of the camera on the same level as the deck, you will see this. but because its coming forward (towards the camera) and the picture is taken from a higher perspective, it looks like the window slopes down. or at least that's what I think Bart
  4. I've been following this project for a while trough youtube video's (but as I don't understand French its a bit difficult) but she appears to be finished and setting sail! ps: nice to sea it lowered its masts (tops and gallants) for the passage. Bart
  5. I build an admiral barge ones, there's a topic about it here it was a bit stubby and square, but my main goal when building was that a rowing crew of 8 actually would fit in it. Bart
  6. On the HMS Victory (where off I got the Ideal, but I think more ships have something similar) it looks like this: http://www.jotika-lt...Const99_lrg.jpg http://www.jotika-lt...Const77_lrg.jpg I couldn't find any modern/real pictures, guess the poop deck is off limits to tourist, or the buckets and steeringwheel are more interesting to take photo's of. Bart Edit: here a picture of the HMS Surprise (replica) of that area: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HMS_Surprise_(replica_ship)_poop_deck_3.JPG
  7. I wanted to start my reply with something along the lines of 'looking great' but because I've just re-read the whole topic, I know I've already done that two or three times ;) About the minifig as a figurehead, can't you connect the legs ontop of the (whats that part called in English, in Dutch it is 'Galjoen snavel') the end of the bow just below the bowsprit. You could also build a compashousing in the steering wheel area if you want to fill up the deck a bit more. and some cabinets to house signal flags against the stern. Bart
  8. I see you edited your first post, I like the orange belt/sash. and for the back, maybe a center line fold. on to the coat, all three colours work for me. as a merchant you'd want to stand out from your co-merchants, and want to keep up with current fashion, and maybe a personal taste. maybe you can add a belt, with pistol or a knife tugged in. there are still smugglers who may or may not have pirate ambitions around. and some crew members aren't to be trusted of course! Beatrix

Great build! she is looking good.
  10. Looks like he is in his underwear :P it needs a great coat of some sort. but as a basis it looks good Bart
  11. I like those designs, I don't particulary care about which shade of orange, in real live is always different then from a computer screen. But I do think that the facing should be blue, (the red or blue behind the cross belts) and I'm not a fan of these yellow epaulettes, the white looks good above, and I can see gold happen on high officers, but common soldiers are better of with blue or white in my opinion. and maybe an Idea, officers white pants, and common soldiers grey. Bart
  12. why this design: canons because its a landbased force. they might have ships, but I see those more as small ships protecting the coast, no big ships of the line and such. these canons are the most simple design, and in my opinion the simpler the better. As orange is there colour, I picked the one with the most orange in it. and I don't like, bands or crosses behind a print. Bart
  13. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what actually is Haven Guard? is it like the name suggests, the guard of the harbour? a police force? a military force? a coast guard? what is the history of it, (I know its new but still) what is the back story? Those are important things to take in consideration before picking a flag, or at least to me. Bart
  14. I prefer picture reviews over video reviews. Not that I don't like video's. but just as people above say, its easier to skip ahead, scroll back, stare at the same detail for an hour, and scroll past things I don't like. but video's can be a nice addition, when the reviewed object/set has some motion things, like a spring trap or a swing arm, you want to show. Bart
  15. Thanks for the information. I fully understand the reasons for not wanting pictures on eurobricks, it will suck up all the space, and there are plenty of other options out there. and 100k should be sufficient for LDD things, Bart
  16. hmm can't find out how an attachment should work. the button 'more reply options' leads me to the same page as where you start a topic, but does not extend my options. but I've had succes! as suggest by Zblj I deleted all the parallel hinges, and continued fiddling. Thanks for the input! Bart
  17. I understand the reasoning due to bandwith/space, but to be honest why is there a library to begin with then?
  18. When making a post, there is a button with a row of floppy symbols and the text 'My Media' (next to the smiley) clicking it brings me to 'Your Media Library' but how do I get files/pictures into the library to begin with? preferably files, I'd like to share an ldd file. pictures I used to use flickr but it's been taken over by yahoo which refuses to let me log on with my google account, which previous was fine. but I've an alternative for that. or do I need to become a knight before that option is fully available? then I suggest hiding the My Media button for those who can't do anything with it. Bart
  19. I could, but in the time I wasn't here, the atachment button seems to be relocated to a for me unknown position. if I click the 'My Media' button I get into a Library, but how do I get files in there? @ BEAVeR I will give it a try to break up the hinge on halve way the curve and click the two bricks together first and try the automatic function. Don't really understand the lever thing you suggested. Bart
  20. Dear Eurobrick and LDD enthousiasts, I know its been an age I've been logged on but still I hope you can help me, I started fooling around with LDD again (downloaded the newest version. But I can't get two pieces aligned. both selected pieces should come together, there are plenty of hinges but I can't move them small enough ammounts to make the two pieces click. and the auto alignment tool gets them real close to then stop and jump back indicating one of the arrows red. any ideas? Bart
  21. great work, I love the fact that you want to go all functional on the wires. for the sails, you might want to look into silk. its very thin and flexible and such Bart
  22. you started again? I'll keep following this one, see how it improves even more Bart
  23. great work!
  24. amazing,
