  1. I've just been browsing the new rules and can I say how much clearer and simpler they now are? Great job leadership team! Huge thanks for all the time and effort you invest in BoBS. To take just one example, in answer to one of the discssions above: 'If a builder has no other ship licenses, he/she is always entitled to a single Class 1-2 license (even if a previous free license ship has been lost).'
  2. April Fool's day! I totally forgot about that. Nice build and fun story, that turkey makes my mouth water. Although the Uncle's line seems to be 'We don't have a house for you, sleep outside; April Fool! But we don't have a house for you, sleep outside: not April Fool!'
  3. OK, that's a totally fair response, I really don't want to spoil our fun here with a long discussion on race and colour, its not the right place. And I did like your build! Keep on MOCing!
  4. Lovely little build, I am sure those scientists are going to deepen our knowledge of New Terra...and get into some right scrapes in the process. i know I am getting into dangerous territory here, but I feel strongly that yellow and black minifigs shouldn't be mixed. Yellow minifigs are NOT white people, they are yellow people. This is the universal skin colour of minifigs (see, for example, the Native American and Snake Charmer figures), thus neatly enabling us to avoid difficult issues of race and colour in the Lego world. Unless of course you are using flesh coloured figures, in which case its fine to use black ones alongside them.
  5. Wow! Fantastic carriage really nicely displayed, and a great idea. Nice use of stems as well instead of a base.
  6. Great use of perspective to tell the story. Of course red ones go faster; that goes for uniforms as well! Some gender confusion though; shouldn't she be 'Ma'am', not 'Sir'?
  7. Great conclusion to the story, a real page turner...or do I mean post turner? War between Corries and Ollies seems imminent, but wth the colonies in such a fledgling state, I'm not sure this suits either party... Lovely build, the pyramid looks great, full of life and action. Brilliant idea to do the duel in black and white, it works really well.
  8. Neat build that follows Ska's really nicely. The fort against the rock is a great idea; no chance of a surprise attack from the rear! I enjoyed the story and all the mutinous banter. And this regiment, I'm not sure if they're an asset or a danger to Corrington. I guess we're going to find out soon enough...
  9. 'This was my inspiration for the gun carriage. Extra wadding is used to keep the ball in the cannon, and the carriage stays pretty much in place as the gun recoil up the slot.' Damn you Oleon! Corries are supposed to the clever ones round here! I guess we're in trouble after all. Helmets on lads! Great use of an historical protype as well, I love that sort of thing.
  10. Such a cosy room, the perfect place to relax and catch up on some reading. I love the SNOT floor and walls, really nicely done. And I am glad to see that Oleon's newest recruit sits on his a**e all day smoking and drinking!
  11. Brillaint addition to the defences of Port Raleigh! The fort looks magnificent and the figures are very nicely arranged in all your scenes. And I Ioved your story, increasing interaction with the natives is a great line to pursue. But I see trouble ahead...
  12. Great face and costume, he looks just the right guy for the job. Great idea too, nicely executed. Port Raleigh is coming along nicely!
  13. Amazing vegetation, lovely figure posing and great story. Your trees are phenomenal. And I like the new photo technique. Mind you I like all your photos, I wish I could get mine to turn out like that!
  14. Welcome to BoBS Dzoni and Duke, prosperous and happy voyaging! Its great to see new members joining Oleon. (But as a Corrie, I obviously don't want your voyages to be too prosperous or happy, maybe the ocassional hurricane strike or successful pirate raid).
  15. Great idea, but I foresee one major problem; how do you stop the balls simply rolling out of the cannons when they are hinged forward? I think we Corries remain safe for now!
  16. Brilliant idea, gives a refreshingly different perspective on things...and enables a bigger battle than anything we have been able to model so far. Its a shame your last pic is out of focus though, and a better background might have improved it further.
  17. Thanks for the kind comments guys, they are much appreciated. Maybe I need to have more confidence in my action photos! But when I look at some of the fantastic photos posted on here I realise how much i have to learn! Bregir, where do you go on your holidays? Pirates, murder, attempted rape all on a recreational beach...I suggest you try a new destination this year! An especially big thank you is due to to Celes for the wonderful celebration scene at the Flask and Flagon. Once the drinks have finished being on the house, i would like to treat him to a large beer, although I suspect a minifig size flagon will not go far to cure his thirst!
  18. Beautiful build! The colours compliment each other nicely. Its the kind of boat you'd have a picnic on with your family(if you were rich,of course). A very well done to you.
  19. Lovely build. The night time lighting has worked really well, as has the forced perspective. I liked the way you showed both sides of the battle, both the fort and the ship's deck. The fort is great, and its clever how you convey the ship without actually building much of it...apart from the micro build obviously. And great gun smoke!
  20. Although I didn't enter, I have really enjoyed following this competition which led to some really fun builds. I hope we will have some more like this in the future which require small builds, forcing everyone to be really imaginative and fun with their entries. 2 very worthy winners certainly, although I don't think there was a single bad entry in it.
  21. Lovely build, full of action and drama. The walls, the foliage and the figures are all done beautifully. In fact the Olies clearly did start it, seems they'll steal anything from anyone.
  22. Really nice ship, the sails are beautiful and she looks like she is racing through the water with a strong wind. Not sure she has enough gun power to resist the Sea rats though!
  23. What do i think of that? I think its magnificent, that's what I think of that. This must have taken both you and your minifigs hours to build, not to mention needed half the tress on the island. If you don't win something in the Challenge, there ain't no justice.
  24. Hermol is surely the best dressed guy in BoBS, he has a different oufit in every picture! Sadly my sigfig, Hawksbrugh, can only afford one suit, he must be getting quite smelly by now . Nice build anyway, very well presented in that comic book format. And probably much more realistic of the average BoBS guy than all this looting, pillaging and exploring; after all, every pirate needs to eat! Eggs and bacon anyone?
  25. Wow...just wow! I am stunned by this build. Brilliant. But, putting my patriotic Corrington hat on; to crew this ship you need about 400 minifigs, so I reckon you can't put to sea until you've got them!
