This is going to sound bad -- but if you are one of the people waiting to hear about a mine you put up LAST month, please remind me of who you are and where you put up your mine. Thank you! I licensed a small mine in Port Raleigh

[SR - FB2 - Ship - LDD] The Mirthless Jest
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to kaiju's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
'that monstrosity, the Mirthless Jest' Are you kidding? She's beautiful, such a great colour scheme (but then I'm a a Newcastle United fan, so i'm a bit biased). More 1600 than 1750 like most ships on here, but that's OK, its all the Age of Exploration. Great work. What pieces did you use for the sails? That's a great idea, I wonder if it would work in a real build?- 11 replies

Awesome man! I'm digging those groovy plants. I bet that owl is totally of his face! And look at that pirate dude's massive brown spliff! Rad! They're growing opium poppies too! Those Sea Rats have entered the drug trade man, far out!

Calling Volunteers! Eslandola Vs. Mardier - Build Off
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Garmadon, I am fine with all you say, indeed it is very sensible. I don't know the rules so if you say pirates have a good chance to succeed I believe you, I was just giving my impression. And as the pirates themselves have not responded here, I am happy to consider the matter closed for now. However I do take objection to this: If there is still any discussion on this topic could we please take it somewhere else or wait for the case in June? This topic is about Eslandola vs. Mardier and has nothing to do with the Sea Rats Well that's just how a conversation works, it evolves and moves on as people make new points. The issue was raised here about the pirates suing Eslandola. I responded to those comments, I can't see any problem with such an evolving discussion. -
Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Darkdragon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I posted this comment in this thread: "'My point is Sea Rats are pirates.' I totally agree Maxim. But my point is that the current MRCA makes piracy pretty risky and poorly rewarded. I would like to hear what those who have actually attempted piracy in the game have to say on this?" So, what do you Sea Rats think? Please feel free to pile into the discussion. -

Looks like I posted too soon when I said this contest was one-sided and should be called off; the game is afoot after all! Well done KB, Bregir and Jacob for having a go, I'm looking forward to your MOCs! -
Well done to the winners, all well deserved. And to everyone who took part in making this a great challenge all round that generated loads of great builds and great stories.

Calling Volunteers! Eslandola Vs. Mardier - Build Off
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Sea Rats attacked one of our villages (they aimed for Bardo!), but everyone is upset because Eslandola attacked at the same time their fleet. For me it is the same. (Maxim) Maxim, I agreee with you, that's why I said: we need a mechanism whereby the nations can't just use their power to crush the Sea Rats as Eslandola seems to have done (yes, their action was totally understandable, but...). Currently in a straight fight any nation will always crush the sea Rats, so the Sea Rats will simply stop these kinds of raids, and indeed all piracy, to the detriment of the game. -
I just posted this in the 'Build-off' thread. I'm not Sea rat so maybe I speak out of turn, but: I think the current system (as I understand it anyway) is unfair on the Sea Rats. It assumes they are a nation whereas in reality they are more like an anti-nation. Effectively they are in a permanent state of war with the other nations, but it seems they aren't allowed to break 'the rules of war' which they haven't agreed to anyway. How can a team whose raison d'etre is piracy then be taken to court for piracy? Or take another nation to court? Piracy is, by defintion, illegal, but we need to allow/encourage pirates to do it anyway, even if that's painful for the rest of us and upsets our plans - that's kind of the point. I hope the new MRCA will make piracy (including land raids) a much more lucrative option vis-a-vis trade or I think the Sea Rats will struggle for a while and then sputter out. Currently much the most successful pirate is an NPC, that can't be right? And we need a mechanism whereby the nations can't just use their power to crush the Sea Rats as Eslandola seems to have done (yes, their action was totally understandable, but...).

Sorry but I really think this whole build off mechanic was a great idea but it clearly hasn't worked and should now be reconsidered. Unless i've missed something, Eslandola now get a build off against KB! I respect KB's spirit but as he is only allowed a single MOC he can't win. I think there are three reasons why this hasn't worked, and may not work in future: 1) Totally unequal rewards - 450DBs of ship license for Eslandola vs 30 dbs for the Mardian team (now resolved) 2) No Mardian players so no Mardian patriotic spirit (remains unresolved) 3) When this was launched, everyone was already very busy with their own builds and stories (remains unresolved) One other point; I think the current system (as I understand it anyway) is unfair on the Sea Rats. It assumes they are a nation whereas in reality they are more like an anti-nation. Effectively they are in a permanent state of war with the other nations, but it seems they aren't allowed to break 'the rules of war' which they haven't agreed to anyway. Great, just great. Really fun build, loads to like. The house alone is fantastic, never mind all the other stuff. Mind you, many years ago I worked on a pig farm myself and I'm pretty sure that fence isn't enough to hold them for more than five minutes...but that's Jack's problem I guess
-
What's not to like? You've got pigs, you've got chillis, you've got croissants, you've got carrots, you've got a tasty little monkey...my mouth is watering at the thought of it all. Lots of lovely vignettes here, its like ten builds in one.

This really captures the atmosphere of many street markets I have been to in France and Spain, really nicely done. Except that in those markets they always have live chicks and rabbits in baskets! The dialogue with the wizard made me laugh; if only Sauron knew where this market was, he could have saved a lot of trouble! So could you with those cobblestones if you'd bought that genie lamp...never mind, all your effort really paid off, it looks great!

[OL FB1] Silver Mine near Breshaun
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Captain Genaro's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A lovely little mine, beautifully modelled. Looks like the nvestment will pay off after all! The above and below ground idea is great, I also liked the winding gear, the lamp and the fiugre posing. My great grand father and my wife's were both coal miners, so its in the blood, and its great to see it getting proper coverage in BoBS. Although I'm not quite sure what kind of mine this is? Iron I guess?- 18 replies

Lovely ship Bregir, shown off very well through your clever story. You have made excellent use of your expert naval knowledge throughout to create an awesome build. The rigging and sails are indeed superb. I love the different cannons as well; examplars for others to follow. But for future builds, please note that Corrington marines wear red uniforms and shakos!

[OL-FB3] Chase to Isla de Ceniza
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Franco Clarke's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great action packed story that kept me reading to the end. Nice to see all four ships sailing together. The two close up photos are really good and give strong feeling of dynamic action. Good luck in clearing that nest of cut throats. -
Really nice ship, I especially liked the first picture. Great to see you haven't skimped on masts and sail; I think some ships on here lack sufficient motive power. I love that overhaning stern as well. Lovely colour scheme too, Corrington colours. Another fine addition to the Corrington fleet!

I'm delighted to see our duel story resolved at last, and with such a happy ending! Captain, you've done this better than I could have hoped for, both with the story and the pictures. Its been a great pleasure collaborating with you. But Janszen and Hawksbrugh's journey is not quite over yet, they will soon be adventuring together, this time as allies rather than rivals. And as for the romance? Well, tune in for the next episode soon!

Annetta by the Grace of the Gods Queen of Corrington and the Islands of New Terra, Defender of Reason, Protector of Right & c., to Our trusty and well beloved Charles Howard, Greeting. We do hereby constitue and appoint you to be Major in Our royal Corps of Engineers. You yourself dilligently to execute this commission, and observe such order and direction as from time to time you shall receive from Ourself, Our generals, your colonel or any other your superior officer, according to occasion and the discipline of war. And in all things to govern yourself as unto the duty and place that the rank of Major does rightly appertain and belong. Given under Our sign and seal at Our court of Corrington this 2nd day of April in the 616th year After Empire, Annetta Regina. Know also that Calling to mind your vigilant eye of care upon all occassions, and the many true services you have done us in divers times and places, we hereby appoint you as Our Military Attache in the Far Islands. Such role being not to command but rather to consult, advise and counsel your brother officers in such ways as shall most profit Our forces, Our Empire and Our Crown. And in particular to submit each and every month unto Our trusty and well beloved Lord Rothsbeard, General Commanding our Forces, a full account of the dispositions, actions, movements and losses of Our forces in the Far Isands; this paper being your authority and power to command all officers in the Far Islands, whatsoever their rank or station on land or sea, to help, abet and aid you in this latter endeavour. Given under Our sign and seal at Our court of Corrington this 2nd day of April in the 616th year After Empire, Annetta Regina. 20160412_212858 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr Above: At dawn on the day after receiving his promotion, Major Howard rides out in full dress uniform on a tour of all military positions on Annetta. The breast plate, 'flame' plumes, and axe are purely symbolic reminders of the three key jobs of the engineer corps; sapping, setting off explosives, and clearing the road ahead.- 897 replies
