'Mines may include the following: Silver, Gold, Copper, Salt, Rock Quarry, Mercury, Saltpeter, Etc… Mines work a little different than the other businesses. After a builder determines they are going to stake a claim, they pay the “Set up cost” for a month. At the end of the month, the builder should present a MOC of a mine being set up. After that point, it will be revealed what type of mineral they have struck.' Seriously? So my sigfig is supposed to build houses out of silver, gold or salt? Maybe that's where the expression 'streets paved with gold' comes from. These little Lego dudes must be pretty bad at geology... But at least this resolves my question about licensing two buildings on a single MOC, it seems I'll just be licensing the window glass factory. Big thanks for the heads up on this Dr Spock, you've saved me from wasting time trying to license my quarry!

Dr Spock, thanks for answering my query so clearly. And Captain Dee, here is the answer to yours (from the Corrington Sign-up page): '8. There seem to be lots of restrictions as to what can go where in the Economic Game System. I've chosen not to participate in the EGS; do I have to worry about these restrictions? Nope! You're quite welcome to build whatever wherever as long as you are considerate of other players and any story lines they may have in operation.' So you are good to go with whatever build you like; I look forward to seeing your Lego version of the industrial revolution!

I am seeking some clarification on the building and licensing rules please. I am currently building a large (48x48) MOC of the outskirts of Port Raleigh. In keeping with my sigfig's profession of architect, this MOC will contain both a stone quarry and a window glass factory. Both will cover at least 16x16 studs and so qualify as a 'small' building. Ideally, I would like to license both of them, once my cash allows. So I want to know: 1) Can I license two separate buildings that are in the same MOC? Or do I have to choose just one of them? 2) Can I license two buildings that are in the same free build post? Or do I need to submit two separate free build posts, each focussing on one of the two buildings? 3) Once I have posted the MOC as a free build, how long do I have to find the cash to license the building/s? I would be very grateful if someone could advise me on this. Thank you!

Laugh out loud funny! Thanks for brightening my day! That forced perspective is brilliantly done, something I will have to try for my own rather more serious builds. As for Motorboat (Motormouth more like), 'offensive' shouldn't necessarily mean 'sacked'. Audiences may say he is offensive but secretly love his naughtiness.

[ESL - MRCA Result] The capture of the Wringe I
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great story, made me smile! I really love these cartoon syle builds with lots of pictures telling the story. Yours even has sound effects. Great use of minimal pieces as well to deliver a lot; looks like the whole special effects budget was blown making the sea! But if you scrape together a few more bricks you should definitely bring us episode 2, you can't leave them floating there forever! -
Great build with so much going on and so many stories. It feels like a real place with real inhabitants. The narrowness of the lane is nicely atmospheric, and the goods on the dock are fantastic. I am looking forward to learning the purpose of the orange ball! I had a quick internet search and while most old timber buildings have timbers laid horizontally some do have vertical timbers, so I think you're OK on that one. Everyone else likes the cobbles and wants texture everywhere but I'm afraid I think it just makes the scene look over crowded and untidy; too many colours!

'Should be 25 +10 = 35 DBs then' (Celes) I think Celes is right according to the published rules: 'A starting challenge: This is open to everyone to complete once, and 25DBs will be awarded to the builder for completing the task. Build your sig fig and place them in a setting in our world. It can be in the colonies, in the motherland, at sea, anything you would like, but make sure to show the figure clearly and demonstrate the profession you have chosen for them in some way.' But Bregir very kindly pointed out to me that these are not the operational rules. The operational rules are: Join up = 25 DBs Build any free build, including your starting challenge scene = 10DBs. So in fact a join up with a starting challenge build is worth 35 DBs, if registered as a free build. Therefore Nivremis earned 25DBs for joining + 10 for first free build (starting challenge build) + 10 for second free build = 45DBs. Obviously the operational rule is better as we all earn more lovely gold! Perhaps somebody could change the published rules to reflect the reality?

This build continues your great story line, it seems Lenny may have found the earthly paradise. I'm looking forward to seeing the next episode... You provide Lenny with a great collection of New World food; turkey, banana, cranberries. But no potatoes! Anyone fancy modelling a minfig size potato? No, I thought not.- 6 replies

[MOC] Working on BoBS
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
So know we know the truth; your MOCs are actually built by a very talented monkey and posted by a fat rat! All you do is take the pictures! But seriously, this is a brilliant idea, brilliantly executed. Your 'mouse' comment made me laugh out loud. The camera build is a work of genius. And I like your choice of paintings! -

Nice build, makes me want to take the rest of the day off and go and sit by a fountain overlooking the brick seas. I'd be watching the lego ships come in, and then I'd watch them roll away again, sitting on the dock of the bay, wasting time But unfortunately I have work to do -

Beautiful build. Sails and rigging are superb, they show the time you invested. Personally I am not that interested in building ships myself but can really admire builds like this; one day they may inspire me to change my mind! I loved the last picture with your whole 'fleet'. -
I see Nivremis has done a nice build with an oriental theme and i was wondeirng about introducing some oriental pirates to one of my builds. Is there a geographical home for these guys in the game? Basically a Japan/China themed country in the Old World? Would that be 'The Mokelei Empire and Allied States'?

[COR - February FB3] New Beginnings
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Mike S's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I approve. Great use of SNOT to build a beautiful little cabin. Great roof too. The perfect crude but serviceable frontier dwelling...until they build something grander, which I'm sure we shall see in good time! -

Well done Joaquin! A true hero...and surely now esteemed in Tenotclaxcan as much as in his own land. Lovely little build and story. I approve. -

I love that this is not square; apart from ships, its the first non-square build I've seen posted here. Convincing sugar canes, and great scythe too! -

Really nice roof and walls, and the curtain in the doorway is great. Doesn't the house need a window or two though? Big windows are always a sign of wealth. Great robber figure, he looks full of evil intent.

Nice little build, I have seen plenty of cabins just like this one. I like your character's very modest beginnings. I look forward to seeing his rise.
-
Very imaginative build, using an orginal oriental theme. Nice posing of figures too. Not sure what the pig is doing though! And for a photo from this angle, it might have been better to take off the front bricks as they spoil the focus.
-
Great little ship, spookily similar to one I have built and will be posting soon; I was thinking of an oriental theme as well! Clever use of the wings and the figurehead is genius. I think legitimate shipping will soon fear the name of Shen!

Dee Shipyards of the Empire of Corrington
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Captain Dee's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Brilliant build! Go Corrington. This is a fantastic idea for a MOC and you've delivered it beautifully. But there is so much going on here we need more picture with close ups of the different vignettes. I look forward to seeing more... P.S. I wonder if 100 minifigs is a new record for BoBS? Maybe you should get some kind of award? -
(COR- FB2) Transvestite Prison Escape
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Fuzzy MacFuzz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The following notice recently appeared in the pages of The Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List: Public Notice: John Hawksbrugh wishes to offer his warmest thanks to all those generous persons who have sent him congratulations on his recent return from Oleon and on the manner of his escape. He wishes to state as a matter of public record the falsehood of a number of rumors put about in the aftermath of his return. Firstly, suggestions that he was some kind of spy are entirely false; his imprisonment was due to a misunderstanding with the Oleander customs office. He also wishes to restate his loyalty to his Queen and his country, in the face of slanderous suggestions to the contrary put about by certain sources close to the government of Oleon. Moreover, Mr Hawksbrugh states emphatically that he has not developed a taste for the wearing of female attire. Finally, Mr Hawksbrugh wishes to dispel all calumnies pertaining to his supposed friendship with Lady Herbert, a most honourable lady with whom he shared only a fleeting aquaintance during his time in Oleon; this rumour has been traced to a rascally Eslandolan adventurer named Janszen, apparently a turncoat from Oleon. Only his current situation as a passenger on board HMS Grasshopper sailing to Port Raleigh prevents Mr Hawksbrugh seeking satisfaction from this so called 'gentleman' either on the duelling field or through the courts.
