Neat little build. Top tip; if you want your head to retain its current location, stay out of MacKenzie's line of fire!

Love the stern view, and the way you have used telescope pieces for the railing. A really smart vessel, I wish her fair winds! -
Great scene! Lovely posing of figures and felled tree, and amusing caption. My next build will be an industrial scene for Port Raleigh, I was going to include timber but now will stick to glass and stone and buy the timber from Merryweather; you will soon be able to add to your list of customers 'John Hawksbrugh, architect'.

This is great! A really engaging story with some very colourful characters. I like the way you keep switching between the frontier and civilisation; its a real soap opera! Your builds are imaginative, varied, and good quality and your figures beautifully (and often humorously) posed, but your photography sometimes lets you down, mostly due to flash reflection and other lighting issues.

20160223_210910 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr (NB: 300 years ago this very day, on 23rd February 1716, Lord Nithsdale, who was facing execution for his part in the Jacobite Rebellion, escaped from the Tower of London disguised as his wife's maid. To celebrate the anniversary of this daring escape, I have created a MOC of a similar escape featuring my sigfig. I have moved the escape to a prison in Oleon.) For the attention of Viscount Oxley. Most secret. Dated this 23rd day of February in the 616th year After Empire. Sir, In my last letter I informed you of my recent return from imprisonment in Oleon, but declined to share the story of my escape with you due to my fear of compromising my accomplices. With the arrival here of your assistant Captain Herrington and his assurance that he will deliver this letter into your own hand, I can now recount my story in full. During almost two years of imprisonment, I was visited regularly by our ambassador to Oleon Lord Herbert and his wife Lady Winifred, with whom I struck up a firm friendship. Once they realised the reason for my imprisonment (spying for yourself) they agreed to assist me in regaining my liberty. They visited me often and one afternoon we hit on a most cunning ruse. I would disguise myself as Lady Herbert's maid and thus make good my escape. I had noticed that my guards were all retired soldiers, short of sight or feeble of wits, and I had no doubt we could easily fool them, especially if we plied them with drink before making the escape attempt. Lady Herbert was as good as her word, providing wine for the guards and a splendid wig, make up and a maid's outfit for myself. The bodice was something of a squeeze but I persevered and within an hour to my great delight we simply strolled out of the castle! Lord Herbert had procured me a fast horse to the coast and a passage to Corrington on a mail boat, and thus within a week of my escape I had returned safely to our great nation. My gratitude for the 25 doubloons Captain Herrington brought for me, one for each month of my time in Oleon. I can inform you that I have accepted the offer of renewed service he made me. He has offered me an advance of ten doubloons, and ten more for each significant service that I undertake for the Crown, which I feel is a most generous reward. At his prompting, on the morrow I will depart on HMS Grasshopper for Port Raleigh, where I will offer my services to Governor Flynn in whatever capacity my modest talents may best avail. God save the Queen! I remain, sir, your most humble and obedient servant, John Hawksbrugh

Great build! Just the thing to keep Port Raleigh safe from those pesky natives and pirates. Redoubtable indeed! I too had hoped to build a fort at Port Raleigh for the challenge but will now think of another plan. You should add your build to the Port Raleigh build list: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=120704&hl=%2Bport+%2Braleigh

Great use of a perfect background. I love the originality of this build, and the complete lack of lego ship parts. The cluttered deck, the dog, the deck house, the female lookout...it all feels lke a real working ship. But I wonder if she rides a little high out of the water? One big wave and she could capsize, so better get some ballast in the hold! -
Another glorious addition to the navy of Corrington! Huzza!

Fanatastic model! It is all of such high quality; raft, landscape, water, photography. I especially lkeed the goats!

[Cor - Ch1a] Terraced farming on the Island
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to BrickOn's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great scene! Lovely looking pumpkins, tall sweetcorn and a cute baby! My mate lives in the rainforest of Belize on some of the original Mayan terraces. He reckons they were possibly the most fertile farming system ever devised, at least in pre-industrial times. Lets hope the Corlanders make a better job of looking after them than the Conquistadores did! -
'1) You will get 25 dbs simply for signing up. IF you want to, you can (on top of that) register your introbuild as one of your monthly freebuilds and get an extra 10 db.' (Bregir) Is this right Bregir? Here's what the intro thread page 1 says: 'A starting challenge: This is open to everyone to complete once, and 25DBs will be awarded to the builder for completing the task. Build your sig fig and place them in a setting in our world. It can be in the colonies, in the motherland, at sea, anything you would like, but make sure to show the figure clearly and demonstrate the profession you have chosen for them in some way.' I have submitted my sig fig but not my intro build yet (coming very soon!) so my understanding was that I wouldn't get the 25DBs until the intro build was submitted. Can someone clarify on this one? Thanks!

Captain Dee, the Lego plough shown here may not be entirely anatomically correct but looks spot on to me. Half way down you can find a close up pic of it- 25 replies

[ESL-FB3] This Ole House
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Finding this build at random on the internet last Sunday convinced me to join BoBS. I hope to build something as splendid as this one day, but I have much to learn first! Many thanks Captain B! And I approve! -
Great story, made me laugh out loud. I think the Egyptian min figs work just fine; who knows how the diverse natives in New Terra will be dressed? Anyway, calling natives 'yellow Egyptians' is no stupider than calling them 'red Indians!' Like with a couple of other builds I've seen, I like the cartoon strip style of storytelling over several photos. I will have to try this myself.

Lovely little build, nice story. Enough detail to tell the story but without any clutter. Can I ask how you made the book spines in the corner cabinet? A technique I'd like to steal! -

Stunning build! I approve. I can't really agree with the comments/criticisms above, i think this ship would be a fitting part of any treasure fleet just as it is. In our world of course, galleons like this were the ones that opened up the new world for captains like Magellan, Drake and Cortes, but in BoBS there is more of an 18th century aesthetic. So I like that those intrepid early explorers are getting a nod here. -

Nice use of a row boat base to build a cute mini ship. The sail and colour schme look great. Not sure if she'd survive an encounter with a rough sea though! -
[SR-MCRA Results] Jail Break!
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to MKJoshA's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Dastardly betrayal, prison breaking, pirates and high explosives all in one scene? What's not to like! Great story and nicely illustrated, I like the way you have told the story in a series of vignettes using the same MOC, almost like a comic strip -
[OL - FB1] A Small Shipyard
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That row boat is really nicely done, nice to see such a high quality scratch build rather than a boat from a set; I think your guy has acheived his 'master ship builder' goal! And i like the general arrangement of a fairly small space, it looks lke a proper working space. The use of the black border makes this look very professional as well, I might steal that idea! I know a lot of people like texture, but possibly the floor looks a bit uneven and cluttered; I hope that fella doesn't trip! -

Does anyone know how the skills tree thing is supposed to work? The skills tree rules page doesn't really explain it. Amyway, if I may I'd like to nominate Capt. Wolf to whatever the process is for the agriculture skill, for his splendid build 'Cotton plantation on An Holli'- 780 replies

[ESL-FB4] Cotton Plantation on An Holli
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I love this build. You must have spent hours 'growing' that cotton, I wouldn't have had the patience. Both the plants and the harvested bolls look very effective. In fact everything about this build looks perfect, I can't think of a single improvement you could make. But as this is a new plantation, I think Guilder's getting scammed by his fencing contractor! By the way, on the 'skills tree' rules page it says there is a skill award for 'agriculture' skills, I think you should apply. I have no idea how you do that though! PS: On the main intro page I have just nominated you to the process for the agriculture skill tree, whatever it is, maybe this will kick start the process?- 25 replies

Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I approve! Nice model, I love all those Eslandonian moustaches. I also like that this isn't really a military ship, just a civilian one wih a gun stuck on. Sails and rigging are really nice too and I like that you've made all the wooden parts yourself rather than using prefabricated ones out of Lego ship sets. Just one thing; the water looks a bit naff, it looks like the ship is mostly surrounded by ice! A big blue base plate with a little texture would help the overall look.
