[SR Mar FB1] – Coming out the other side
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Gulagurag's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I thnk the jungle looks great, nice job. The different colours on the sand are nicely done too. A well posed figure and good use of the mast. But I would focus more on the sea, the single discs on the beach look a bit odd. Its great that a story can be so clearly captured in such a small build; in this case, a picture really does tell a thousand words. -

[SR Mar FB 4] – Wood Worker's Cottage
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Gulagurag's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
One Corrie approval The outside is solid but perhaps a little dull, except for that lovely shield, but the inside! Wow! It really looks like a woodworkers workshop, so many lovely little details to enjoy. -
[COR-MRCA] Good business on the pier of Nova Terreli
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Brickwolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a fun build, nicely put together. It is a clever idea based on a simple MCRA outcome which most people wouldn't have bothered to model. I especially love the duck! But please avoid mixing flesh and yellow minfigs in one build, it drives me crazy! -
This is a really great build. Lovely jungle scenery even before the story got going...and then a great story, beautifully depicted. I will be entering this challenge as well but having seen your entry I know I have no chance! Well, I'll enjoy the build anyway.

Glassworks and Stone Quarry, Port Raleigh
Fuzzy MacFuzz posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
20160322_084423 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr [NB, for reasons that will become apparent in my Challenge 2 entry, this letter is dated before the arrival of the reinforcement marines at Port Raleigh and the building of Fort Redoubtable] To Viscount Oxley Dated this last day of February in the 616th year After Empire Sir, I have been here for almost a week now and wanted to write to update you on our progress. Things here are still in a most primitive state. Except for the Government House, there are no buildings to speak of. We are short of every resource required for civilised living. Luckily some enterprising gentlemen have established the Merryweather Lumberjack Company so we have wood of all kinds, and even charcoal. The lack of horses and oxen is particularly trying, all must be moved by Herculean physical labour. And before anything can be built, the dense jungle must be cleared by hand. Nevertheless, with every passing day we improve the place. 20160321_223554 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr The most pressing need is for housing, most here are living in tents made from sails or rough wood cabins. Anticipating this, before leaving Corrington I was able to engage the services of three excellent artisans. Firstly, the brothers Edward and Thomas Strong, both master masons. The Strongs took no time in opening a quarry and constructing an impressive wooden crane to lift the stone from the ground. 20160322_084003 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr Above: The quarry. Edward Strong (bottom left) is supervising the extraction of stone. Without horses, oxen, or powered machinery this is back breaking work for all involved. Secondly, Mister George Ravenscroft, a window glass maker. Mr Ravenscroft, a widower, has brought his two sons and two daughters with him, and all are engaged in his business. He and his sons have thrown up a glass kiln without delay; they assure me that the sand here is perfect for their craft and even now the first panes are appearing. 20160322_083953 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr Above: The glass works. George Ravenscroft the Elder is spinning crown glass while his son George the Younger is cutting the spun glass into panes. At the kiln William Ravenscroft is melting the next ball of glass ready for his father. The youngest sibling, Lily, is sweeping the floor while dreaming of running away to become a pirate. The fourth sibling, Isabella, is out of shot, pushing a handcart of glass panes up to Port Raleigh. I can assure you sir that we all labour without stint for the good of our mother country, and that soon streets of big fine houses will appear in Port Raleigh that will do Corrington proud. Any resources you can send us will surely hasten this endeavour; in particular we need good food, good wine, good horses, and good men. I remain your humble and obedient servant, John Hawksbrugh 20160322_132445 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr Above: John Hawksbrugh is delighted wih the rapid progress being made. With stone, timber and window glass now available house building can begin very soon, and he is already dreaming up grand designs. 20160322_132155 (2) by Chris Warburton Brown, on Flickr Above: A wider view of the beach at Port Raleigh- 16 replies

[Cor - FB3 March] On hot Coals.
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to BrickOn's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Your ideas are astounding! You really rocked the headgear. This emoji says it all. I really liked the cartoon strip style you have used here, very original. By the way, I have a friend who has walked on hot coals. No danger is involved and no pain if done right. She also sometimes wears silly hats. -
Brilliant build, I am in awe. So much to admire here; the floor, the stairs, the frog cages, the potions, the magnifier, the uncle-in-a-jar, the story, the humour. I can only hope that one day I can emulate some of this! I just wanted to add this emoji for fun! But also cos its how your build made me feel. Where's my brick box?

[ESL-FB5] Fields of Gold
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This build seems a bit corn-y to me! But I approve anyway (Corrie) In a little while Brickinson will be getting a pizza the action! Looks like he's born and bread for it! Wheat will he do next? (continues awful puns for another three pages....). Seriously, nice build, and great fun, although your wheat plants look a little like maize. The number of parts you've used for the wheat is most impressive. And I love the consistent high quality of your photography in all your submissions, I wish mine was that good That monkey reminds me of a few bosses I've had...- 17 replies

Your accounts will be fixed
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I think the really impprtant thing here is to acknowledge the amazing work Ska has done in setting up BoBS and thank him for it. So a heartfelt 'THANK YOU SKA!' from all of us. If Ska does feel overwhelmed there are a number of ways that might be dealt with, for example keeping our own accounts or setting a strict limit of 2 free builds a month for all players. On the university thing, there is actually a suggestion of a skill tree in the original BoBS rules but it hasn't developed yet, probably because Ska is too busy for the reasons outlined by Phred! I am very new here but would be happy to help develop this. A very simple system would simply be to record build categories in the different areas (farmer, architect, soldier, ship builder etc.) and at different levels (apprentice, journeyman, master or something like that; we could even have different rank names for every build class) for all players. Each build would qualify in only one build area, nominated by the builder. I would be willing to help set this up, hopefully with some other volunteers. Personaly I would avoid the need for approvals from other builders as it creates more admin work, and instead set simple objective criteria which builders can use to self-accredit. Maybe to limit admin work but still allow peer accreditation, approvals could be used just for the highest level of each skill tree (mastery). -

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To Sir James William Chase via his acting agent Mr Brickon Dated this 17th day of March in the 616th year After Empire Sir, allow me to introduce myself. I am Nicholas Van Moor, John Hawksbrugh's agent in Corrington. Upon his departure for Port Raleigh Mr Hawksmoor deposited a small amount of doubloons with me and asked me to invest these in whatever venture seemed most likely to turn a profit. Your request for a speculative investment in your currently unamed ship recently caught my eye. Mr Hawksbrugh does not currently own a ship of any kind, so I believe a license will be unecessary in this instance. However I am willing to offer you 15 doubloons to hire your vessel as a particpant in Corrington's monthly trade convoy currently being assembled, in return for a full share of whatever profits its voyage brings. If you are interested in this arrangement, please inform me in your reply of the size and class of this fine vessel. You may also wish to supply her with a name fitting her beauty before she goes to sea. I await your reply with anticipation, and remain your servant, Nicholas Van Moor, agent.- 897 replies

[COR-FB2] The Flask and Flagon (Port Raleigh)
Fuzzy MacFuzz replied to CelesAurivern's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Dated this 17th day of March in the 616th year After Empire. To the propreitor of The Flask and Flagon. Madam, I am delighted to see the opening of Port Raleigh's first tavern. My workmen and I have grown sick of rum drunk out of bottles on the beach, and our humble sailor's diet has grown wearisome, despite the recent addition of freshly caught fish. We look forward to sampling your wares with the greatest anticipation. However, I feel obliged to point out that in the light of the current parlous state of sea trade to Corrington, and the recent rumours of hurricanes, your grandiose claims to supply the finest culinary delights of our homeland seem unlikely to be sustained. We still have a number of barrels of two-year-old salt beef and finest ship's biscuit should you need it. Maggots and weevils included at no extra charge! Plus we have some three score crates of rum bottles, which we would offer you at a very reasonable price. I am, sir, your humble and obedient servant, John Hawsbrugh- 17 replies

Nice idea for a build. The gates are a great idea; thief proof but allow the wares o be displayed when closed. Removable roof and front is also great. But I do think you need to do some serious work on that roof, flat rooves always leak and his gunpowder will be getting wet!

This is a fun build and nice story. As others have said, the raft is great, though I'm not sure its seaworthy...maybe just seaworthy enough to save his life! But I have one question; without net, line or spear, how will the fisherman catch any fish?

Thanks for the kind comments. It was fun building this little scene. And fear not Bregir, we will be MOCing up the full duel; Capt. Wolf and I are just working out the story. -
Thanks for the advice, I am clearer about bounty hunting now especially from BrickOn's post

I have a simple question; are Bounty Hunting voyages still valid for the MCRA? All the recent discussion I have seen refers only to trade runs and escorts.
