  1. What does NES have to do with this? Blizzard didn't even exist in the 80s, they had some games on the SNES in the 90s, but it was not their main platform.
  2. While I agree Starcraft is a cool universe for sure, unless there will be a Starcraft 3, I highly doubt there would be SC LEGO sets before Warcraft , SC2 just announced that there won't be any content in the future so basicly means the focus is off that game right now. Not trying to shut down your wish here, SC2 is a great game, considering the age of it, and personally still think it's a better universe for LEGO sets compared to Diablo. Of course a 1-off display set would be cool, like a Terran Battlecruiser or something, Overwatch had the larger Bastion display model as well. Personally I like the Warcraft universe a lot more, and it seems a bit more relevant considering Hearthstone, World of Warcraft + Classic still get content updates/expansions. Warcraft could tick boxes with Fantasy LEGO fans, while it's not exact Lord of the Rings or Warhammer, it does contain elements of each + more things like C'thulu/Old Gods, Pirates, Steampunk, and some Planets/Spaceships as well.
  3. Jungle was done in 2017, Mining was done in 2018
  4. I don't think so, Ice Cream truck is the current food van that followed up the Pizza Van after 3 years, and the Ice Cream truck is still there in 2021. There will be a Pizza building in one of the Town sets however.
  5. The C looks quite a bit like the current Creator C font as well, but thinner.
  6. Jangbricks did a comparison in his review, it does make the Creator set look quite small, but I don't think it's a bad set at all, especially at some discount. Still planning to get the Barracuda Bay myself, but I love the Pirate Ship set for sure.
  7. Austronesian culture covers thousands of years of human history, they were the first to sail the oceans at that scale and distance , it covers an enormous area, from Hawaii to New Zealand, and from Easter Island to Madagascar. Certainly isn't based on Disney, Moana is based on Polynesia of course, but history goes so much further then that. LEGO had Islanders in the 90s as well. I don't think it's that weird to have a spin-off fantasy version via Ninjago.
  8. I looked at the Brickset catalogues, none have this particular diorama, but found some details: Certainly is from the year 1979 or 1980, based on the Snackbar set that came out in 1979, and the yellow Fire Station (374) was replaced with a red one in 1981 (6382). Must be from Europe as well, as US had a different red Fire Station (580)
  9. I think with the new approach, it's not as predictable now. Like we see this wave, the €100 sets are focused on Criminal Hideout, and a Town Center (with an Octan Garage and Pizzeria included). 2021 will be also be the first time City gets a House set since 2010. I can see the LEGO City Adventures does continue in 2021, with snake rattler and others returning, so Fire/Police sets are certainly a core that isn't going away. Now as for outdoor/subthemes, I think it's more likely to get a few sets of each, instead of a full wave of let's say 6 or 7 sets dedicated to Jungle/Volcano/Arctic etc. We already saw 2020 summer was partly split on Airport and Divers, instead of going 1 single direction. I think 2019 is a good indicator of change that started happening, with larger sets like Donut Shop & Ski Resort not being strictly linked to full subthemes , even the Fire sets were some what different with Downtown Fire being the largest instead of the Fire Station. For 2020, the large set seperate of themes would be the Tuning Shop. Now, of course, the 2021 sets with Buildings could be seen as the "My City" subtheme, but to me, it seems more likely that's going to be a yearly plan from now on rather then just 1 wave. As for Coast Guard, not so sure now, with the lifeguard quad set basicly fulfilling part of the rescue role Coast Guard filled, not saying it won't come, but maybe fewer sets with just the main core of having a Ship, Helicopter and possible Base.
  10. Never liked those new set "videos" , even if they have new set names/numbers, it doesn't help when it's basicly a slideslow, of often MOCs or old sets often very clickbait. I rather watch analysis videos after official pictures.
  11. New submissions : The Riverside Scholars by Hanwasyellowfirst Sand Castle by the Sea by sm6rf8 Secrets of Memnon by ademirkapisch
  12. Looks great for a 6 wide for sure.
  13. I think the possibility of more Town house or shop is likely as it's a continued theme through 3-in-1, just because City got a Family House again, shouldn't mean the end of 3-in-1 houses/shops. Motorcycle is probably around the scale of the previous set in 2017, so not minifig scale.
  14. LEGO City Magazine 2020-5 is finally out here in my country, looks like there will only be 6 issues this year here. Since those Magazines are printed under license, and published by localized companies, it varies a lot per country. I think Germany still gets 12 issues total this year, oh well, but I won't complain that much since I know many countries don't even get any at all. Still think this miniset is a great one to get, a rarer minifig and parts colors, mostly found in the larger City Tuning Garage set.
  15. Just a heads up on winter-themed sets, and while the current Mindstorms GWP + 2x VIP points are currently running at the same time. 40262 being sold at LEGO.com in Europe right now. It's a 2017 set, but this might be the last chance to get it directly from LEGO, and would go well with Winter Village/Advent Calendar and 2020s Winter Snowball set.
  16. Alternate builds are my favorite MOCs as they allow things to be done with a single set, and this one certainly is great.
  17. I didn't take your post as offense at all, I fully understand your point that Star Wars has gotten way larger attention in the last 25+ years. Even when considering Classic Space got a lot more spotlight in the last years with LEGO Movie 1+2 and the Legacy Heroes LEGO game , and now an Orange Spaceman that comes with a book, it's true Star Wars overall has massive following and coverage in comparison, even within LEGO , a line of sets that is continous for 22 years in 2021. I didn't want to generalize the whole Star Wars as old, it certainly isn't , but people calling Classic Space designs as old (as in to the point of outdated nobody cares about it) didn't really make sense, as LEGO has shown they can do modern iterations of it with sets like 2014's Benny's Spaceship , or smaller scale like Benny's Space Squad in 2019. Even within the 21 years of Star Wars LEGO sets, there has been a lot of different design iterations/updates/variants of repeated releases like Falcons, X-wings etc, so there's no reason to assume Classic Space sets can't look Classic, yet use modern design standards and newer parts. Reviving exact copies of Classic Space original sets shouldn't really happen, unless it's some one-off set like a 50th year anniversary Galaxy Explorer milestone , and even then, I wouldn't complain if it weren't a 1 on 1 copy of the same parts, but nearly looked identical still. Would I like more Spaceship sets from in-house? Yes Does it need to be Classic Space ? Not exactly , but I do prefer angled designs over rounded, even a 3-in-1 1000+ piece spaceship set could be very interesting if it uses many basic parts like angled wings, slopes and a bunch of transparent pieces, Benny's 2014 Spaceship was a good example of that style.
  18. Not many new submissions but here are some nostable submissions ending soon : Trolls's Siege Brachiosaurus - 3 days 3450 supporters The Beachfront Castle - 3 days 71 supporters Lego Castle Winterlands Frozen Falls Fortress - 10 days 1257 supporters Medieval Knight House - 21 days 3413 supporters
  19. I really think its situational, I didn't collect LEGO from 2001-2015 so I have no nostalgia or connection to the 2000s Space themes, I don't really like some of the rounded design and Technic panels etc, but I wouldn't condemn the themes as there are plenty great sets/parts as well. But I can understand people disliking certain things, like the initial Nexo Knights got pretty harsh comments on this forum by "Classic Castle" fans, but that doesn't mean that the theme was hated by every AFOL. But even inside the Star Wars community, there's a big divide, some love movie 1-9, some just consider movie 1-6 as original etc.
  20. I find it weird LEGO Star Wars fans seem to call Classic / Tron / Ice planet Space era as "old" themes nobody cares about, while Star Wars Original Trilogy is 37-43 Years old as well, pretty much the same era as Classic Space.
  21. There's still the mystery 31117 set, but I'd think it's safe for it to be between the €29,99 and €49,99 price range. I'd almost think it could be a minifig Airplane or Helicopter, as there's usually at least one set available in that theme, and both the 2019 Helicopter/Plane sets are retiring.
  22. I agree it's a nice solution to add some roads to the side of 3-in-1, Friends, City buildings and such without using 32x32 area. Those roads will just look nicer on a shelf imo. On a shelf, curved road plates seem pretty useless, and this is easier to scale then 32x32 areas, especially when buildings have different depths. It's not that road baseplates are useless, they certainly aren't, they work great for covering large areas. But with this I also like you can make 1-lane roads with this system again like the old Town sets, or put something like a gas pump or barrier in the middle of the road, or an extra parking lane/bus stop.
  23. I agree a figure would've been nice included, I just hope it can fit a figure with a helmet on in it, at least I'm glad I got some orange astronauts from 2019 City space, orange suits and visors. Underwater Robot can barely fit a figure with no mod with no helmet, but after removing a tile inside and the technic axle below it, it does give 1 plate extra headroom to fit a diver with airtank/backpack. I do hope for nice alternate builds.
  24. I think 8 is the right number , 8, 16 , 32 goes well with existing plate dimensions, while a multiplier of 10 just would be weird, there are 8x8 , 8x16, 16x16 plates, and baseplates are 16x32, 32x32 and 48x48 all can be divided by 8 and not 10 studs 8 can be easily divided into 1 , 2 , 4 studs as well. Also I think City vehicles generally are still within size limits, it's mostly Creator and the 2020 Speed Champion vehicles being larger then City but I personally see them as seperate themes and not designed for City even while 3-in-1 has houses and buildings. City has some 8 wides but not in a problematic standard yet.
  25. While 3-in-1 had a Pirate-ish treehouse and rollercoaster, I do believe that IDEAS Barracuda Bay eventually was the reason 3-in-1 got the Pirate Ship set , which also is the largest 3-in-1 set since 2009 in terms of piece count, and the 3rd largest 3-in-1 set ever. Wouldn't surprise me if IDEAS Blacksmith Shop comes out, that we'll get a 3-in-1 Castle set in summer 2021.
