We want the amazing 60278 Crook's Hideout Raid!
TeriXeri replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
I'd love a hideout set, but it doesn't need to include 2 big police vehicles again, either have a truck, or a helicopter, not both. While there have been 7 hideouts since 2013 , imo most of them had too much focus on the vehicles, instead of the building. 60009, 60048 and 60131 had a decent balance though, but especially 60046, 60071, 60173 had too large Police vehicles. Especially with 2021 being more City-building focused with the road system, keep the large helicopters and such seperate.- 21 replies

There was a greek mythology build featured on the Dutch LEGO masters season 2 tonight, quite interesting to see how well it was received. Also Castles and Dragons seem fairly regularly chosen for builds as well. No idea why the Medieval Blacksmith cost €169,99 in NL/BE when it's €10-€20 less in neighbouring countries.

While I only have 2 small UFO sets (still have them built but seperated from newer LEGO) , the theme certainly had some amazing figures and printing, alongside Insectoids. This set was tiny, and yet the figure with the neon orange head and armor was ahead of it's time. The other set : very simple, but full of awesome printed parts and neon.

LEGO Creator 2021 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Built the Wild Lion set recently, while small (and only 2 studs wide at the rear), I think it's a great model, very posable in standing/sitting/lying down. -
I collected sets from Nexo Knights, Ninjago, Hidden Side for the LEGO bricks , not their surrounding apps/tv shows. LEGO also has a ton of books/magazines/sticker/acitivity books beside the digital offerings, many even still come with bricks or a figure/minibuild. And while you can easily build LEGO digitally, for a long time, but more accessible now, it won't replace a pile of bricks for kids imo (especially when themes like Classic/3-in-1 are made, chances are great kids will build their own models). I see Vidyo as just another take on CMF, collectability of tiles/figures, and AR app in the current days of instagram etc, it's not that weird for LEGO to experiment there on the current generation of teens etc.

Now I just hope they also keep those Designer sets in some shipping point from Europe, as last time they shipped from US only (which adds a lot of extra import/taxes etc.) but that was before Bricklink was aquired by LEGO so I'd assume they'll handle this more internationally now. Will look at Castle in the Forest for sure.

That mountain set is fantastic, good choice to keep the Sci-Fi out of that set so it will appeal more as a standalone set. Other sets certainly are good but as with the other waves, the theme's exclusivity will make me fear the overall pricing.

I'm not offended about Titanic, but a real world tragic ship/event shouldn't be advertised around a fictional hollywood movie or it's actors. Now, that's not to say that the story cannot be mentioned anywhere, but at least mention the real story/technology from a 1912 perspective, not a Cinematic perspective. Space Shuttle models are fine, but Columbia or Challenger also shouldn't be advertised around STS-51L or STS-107, both had other succesful missions (see Women of Nasa set for example).

This happened in real life, and people died, this should 100% never be related to the movie and it's actors.

LEGO Creator 2021 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Certainly an interesting set, and the darkblue/yellow color scheme works well with the 2015 Beach Hut and 2017 Island Adventures if people happen to have those sets. -
The Castle that always impressed me the most in catalogs was 6090 Royal Knight's Castle , but it's from 1995. I did get smaller sets from that year, like the King , the Skeleton Surprise and the Drawbridge, definately one of my favorite faction of sets I actually had.

Only had it happen once in 5 years, and that was 1 piece missing (2x2 L corner brick) and an extra 1x6 plate was included that wasn't part of the set, so might have been a piece swap incident somewhere.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I like the cars and the building ,but the helicopter is just not needed in that hideout set, never liked those cockpit parts either, but gotta admit the parts use for the rear shape is clever using those long triangle sloped parts. But still might consider it if the interior/figures are good, and on a sale, seems like a great set with 30% off or more. -
I like it a lot, the original was a bit too large.

Looks like 2 new Xtra sets appeared for 2021. (images from Brickset) A new variant of Food 40465 And Chinatown 40464 Overall I love both of those in terms of pieces, and both are massable. Bananas are the only repeat item, compared to 2018, but even the apples are different color, so that's nice, also very likely to have a spare sausage / melon slice / cherry included. As for the Chinatown set, nice selection of parts, crate is always nice to get, multiples of teapot+cups won't look odd in a porcelain type shop , and lanterns/fences/bamboo would generally fit nicely. Just like Plants got a second version in 2020, this will be the second variant of Food , so far looks like the theme is here to stay longterm for now, the only change looks to be the retirement of the cardboard roads in favor of the new City ones. Maybe we'll see a new variation of Traffic Signs / Lights as the 2018 sets are likely due to be replaced soon like the food and plants already did.

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Actually looks much better in review then just pictures, nice size for sure. -
I agree there for that polybag. As for Classic theme sets themselves, the huge color variations they have does allow great mini builds, but generally Creator sets, while still having lots of colors, work a bit better for larger cohesive builds. But comparing the 2015 and 2021 larger Classic sets, overall looks like LEGO has toned down the number of different colors a bit to have more parts of the same colors. I still personally think the 2018 Building Bigger Thinking sets were the best so far, but partly because of the generic minifigs+accesoires included. But I do applaud LEGO for at least trying different "themed" Classic sets like wheels, windows, eyes, lightbricks, transparent sets, and the return of the €5 "colored" small sets. (green/blue in 2020 , white in 2021) The more I look at the 2021 11013 Creative Transparent Bricks , the more I start to like it. Also 11014 Bricks and Wheels does seem to use some newer and different colored wheels again, so variation is good.

3-in-1 sets can be built without numbered bags if you start alternate build first, If I only have 1 set, I still build the main build myself however, just as a check of completeness, building is more interesting then counting pieces. As for extra steps in instructions, I like it, as sets have gotten bigger , especially the piece count picture per step helps a lot. I certainly have noticed "weird colors" in sets, especially City, where insides of cars are green and such while the main build is grey/white. Long past are the days where a set only had a handful of colors, could be seen as either a downside or upside however depending on the goal. I will be very sad if LEGO stops paper instructions however, they make a great archive, long-term, especially on more recent sets with a set's parts counts in the manuals, even while it won't cover spare parts and such, it does make LEGO somewhat timeless being independant of an electronic device. There's just something special about rebuilding old LEGO from paper manuals after a long period of time of let's say 20 years.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
After seeing official LEGO.com prices, certainly there's some variation between sets and countries again, US and NL City prices being generally worse then Germany's, especially sets above $30 / €30. I like the boat, but not at €55. On the other hand, the €10 and €20 range sets look pretty good value , Police Transporter especially, 4 figs, 2 vehicles and a motorcycle for €20 , for me, this would be a good set to finaly get a duke detain and snake rattler. As for the road system, I'll probably skip the largest sets unless there will be heavy discounts, probably get some of the €20 road packs instead. -
What exactly constitutes a "real" Castle theme?
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nexo Knights had a few Castle sets, but it was still far from a true Castle theme. But the few sets like Knighton Castle, Jestro's Volcano Lair, and even the Fortrex (with modifications), can serve as Castles, if you look past the color schemes, especially on the Knights side. The Fortrex had potential where it could be expanded with the Library set, but there were never any more smaller buildings since, beside a small Tower and Tree sidebuilds in the stone monster season. The neutral knights and villains can easily fit into Castle themes as well, the smaller vehicles were sized like something you'd see in a Castle theme with different colors. The larger vehicles were something completely different however, and indeed closer to Sci-Fi/Space compared to Castle. Especially the 2018 villains could easily have been a Sci-Fi space faction on it's own, a set like Berserker Bomber could've easily fit into another sci-fi/space theme. Still , I loved the theme, but going forward, I would greatly prefer location/buildings over vehicles if another theme comes around. Currently since 2018 Harry Potter sets have the expandability/modularity of traditional Castle sets, where walls/towers can be re-arranged with technic pins in the walls, now I hope they will continue that system if there eventually migh be another Castle theme or single large Castle set. I personally don't think the Harry Potter sets work great as a Castle theme however, while there are some great Wizard figures, Centaurs and magical things in some sets, overall for me, it doesn't bring me in as a Castle fan unlike sets like Knighton Castle or Jestro's Lair. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
TeriXeri replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I can certainly see it will attract people for the old Islanders vibes, and I think the sets will work great with other Pirates sets as well. Using the Ninjago way to approach one-wave "subthemes" , is a great way imo, and since Legacy also exists, seeing something different in the newer seasons is nice. Having seasons like 12 - 13 - 14 being pretty much standalone subthemes, will also be easier to attract new people into Ninjago. -
Still hoping the Blacksmith will be inspired by something like a mix of 1986 Guarded Inn / Medieval Market Village , like they did a "remastered" Black Seas Barracuda, or at least offer it as a 2-in-1 option. It doesn't need to have the red walls but I can certainly see the similarities in the set types. As for having less pieces, I'm okay with it, I can see a lot of tiny pieces that could be potentially removed, as right now it looks pretty cluttered compared to something you'd see in an official set. I'd rather see some more figures/horses , compared to the many 1x1 or 1x2 sized pieces.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I got that helicopter as well last year, sadly in my country there were only 6 City magazines this year (12 in 2019), while there are 7 more magazine gifts on Brickset for 2020 , so I assume other countries did get more (different publishers/translations per country). I prefer polybags but those aren't sold widely at all. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
TeriXeri replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I do like the "islanders" sets for sure, would mainly use them in combination with the 2020 Pirates sets. Cole and Nya were 3x in last season, so I suppose that explains why they are only 1x on this 4-set wave, and 2 of the other ninjas here. As for legacy, I don't really see a must-have set there , but that's just my take on it, I do like the 4 small "vs" sets however for the varied villains and transparent weapons. -
I prefer the new roads for a 3-in-1 scale display they aren't as wide as a baseplate, and allows plate-high sidebuilds easily attached like traffic lights/plants/roadworks, or small sidebuilds like a bench/playground etc. Generally while most 3-in-1 buildings are open back anyway, those new roads are more customizable to fit onto a smaller shelf or closet display without needing a custom shelf size/depth, or actually cutting baseplates (would never do that). Also should be fairly easy to make single-lane driveways leading to something like a drive-in/garage/parking space using those 8x16 modules.
