  1. I noticed that piece for me is impossible to take apart in set 31081: Modular Skate House. While not transparent in this case, it's pretty much stuck in this little build : Maybe it's just a one off case of combination of parts for my particular set, as other bars have detached just fine .
  2. Impressive model for sure, microscale isn't my thing but still looks nice. I could see some interesting alternate builds like Castles come from this however.
  3. Bonsai set could be useful for more then just a display model, also serve as a tree in a minifig setting. At least I like it a lot more then a typical non-minifig scale static object like a piano/typewriter.
  4. Creator Expert cars/bike seem the most similar to the older Model Team to me nowadays. Cars like the Mustang, Fiat 500, Harley Motorcycle, mainly focus on the appearance like Model Team did. But those are discussed under Other themes / Creator topics
  5. The theme has potential, but for me, not interested at 100% RRP, when sets like the Monkey King mech, Foundry are €140, and the Boat HQ is €170. To compare it to other €140 sets, like Knighton Castle, I liked that a lot more, and that had discounts as well, but I'm also still biased towards liking buildings more currently, after collecting Nexo Knights vehicles/mechs for 3 years. I think I'll stick to collecting Chinese New Years and possibly some Ninjago in 2021.
  6. Once again, good set , but the value isn't there for me, at 100% RRP. And that's not to say that I don't like all sets at full price, I'd think the Chinese New Years sets have been worth it so far.
  7. Magazines sometimes have parts or minifigs in them only found in 1 or a few sets. Same thing happened with Nexo Knights and Hidden Side magazines, some figures appeared there which only appear in 1 set, or a mix of parts from sets, or the baby raptors from Jurrasic World magazine.
  8. The only torso I can see that was re-used looks to be the unicorn girl from 40373: Fairground Accessory Set
  9. I'd assume printed since it's a repeating tile, and at least last year's (2020) sets were 100% printed as well , Dragon Boat had stickers but that was a 2019 set. Overall so far I like those sets even more then the 2020 sets, even the snow/wall. Main difference between those sets compared to last, is that there's a significant area to put figures, while the last sets were more sprawling, small builds. Also great minifigure prints and colors, some printed arms and legs. And the builds still are the right size to look nice next to 3-in-1 scaled buildings (I don't have Modulars), and Ninjago sets.
  10. 79003: An Unexpected Gathering uses 3680 purely as decoration for the windows, with no turntables inserted. https://brickset.com/sets/79003-1/An-Unexpected-Gathering Both Taj Mahal sets use even 208 of them in the set, as floor tiles.
  11. I'd also love to see another minifigure based Chess set, they can work as themed army sets as well.
  12. Maybe BaM pieces being printed might have something to do with it? At least that would be my theory, printed pieces and sanitizer doesn't seem a great combination with added friction from gloves. Or PaB pieces might be easier cleaned afterwards if they are just 1 type, and unprinted. Minifig parts are also more complex, with the moving parts and hands, I don't know if they clean the parts, but that could be another reason.
  13. Would be nice to have some neon colors and trans yellow for space builders. Overall hoping for a good parts selection.
  14. There was a microscale modular Hotel that was sort of highrise , certainly can see how it could be stackable in full scale if it was a normal set.
  15. I agree that the larger structure playsets are generally better for buildings, but sometimes it seems the building size still gets sacrificed if a larger creature/vehicle is included, like 70678: Castle of the Forsaken Emperor, But there are also good examples where the building is the main focus, while still including multiple small vehicles, examples would be: Chima's Lion Temple or Nexo Knights Volcano Lair , Knighton Castle.
  16. LEGO has had Hotels 2015-2020 in Friends (41101), 3-in-1 (31069 Golf Hotel or even 31109 Pirate Inn alternate builds), City (60200) , so the concept isn't new , but it wouldn't surprise me to see a Hotel in Modular form , since the 2007 version had no interior.
  17. I know, it wasn't about being the first, but it was an actual shop showing those numbers, so a reliable source of what was coming, also had a City Police Boat on there which was never on instagram lists. As for the 2020 "winter"cubes, didn't know they were actually advertised already.
  18. The 2021 cubes were listed as the Brickshop.eu website, but seems they have removed all the 2021 sets at the moment , not just Friends, City sets were previously listed there as well. brickmerge.de still has the new Friends sets listed Overall, I think release dates might be pushed forward into 2021 a bit, multiple themes like City/3-in-1/Ninjago seem to have at least split their release dates , with a wave after 26 December/January, and a later wave February-April (varies per theme) I don't think we'll see sets December 1st.
  19. Some sets are already listed as Sold out on the European LEGO.com, including the Castle. The Train set is also listed as Sold out on the US site. Sold out certainly is a big sign of retirement, compared to Temporarily out of stock. Especially combined with the European site also listing multiple sets as Retiring Soon, and some of those are -15% or Sold out already. Now, this doesn't mean that sets are instantly gone at January 1st 2021, but I expect more discounts to sell the remaining stock around Black Friday/Christmas and beyond. Some LEGO Movie 2 sets were still sold up to April 2020, but over time, less different sets were available on LEGO.com. (not including other retailers)
  20. To me, another big factor, is how widely a set is sold on the market. It can be a big difference if a set/theme like Monkie Kid is LEGO exclusive, vs a theme like Creator 3-in-1 or Ninjago getting 30-40% discounts elsewhere (especially during 2019 that was common to see). Yes, LEGO did have 30-50% off on their own website sometimes, but usually that's for common sets that would be cheap elsewhere as well. As far as 18+ goes, it doesn't bother me.
  21. It certainly is an interesting concept, and using old designs is likely part of the experimental phase, but those small scale Police and Fire buildings are pretty good.
  22. I actually hope it gets a little bit more of a Guarded Inn approach. I expect the piece count likely gets cut down a bit in terms of little wall/roof texture pieces, and maybe less printed wood tiles indoors, and less small pieces outside. The Tree House final result wasn't as cluttered on the base compared to the original, I expect a similar base/terrain build. I wouldn't mind a bit smaller simpler build if it means they can add at least 1-2 more horses, and keep the other animals around. The tree likely will be smaller or simpler as well. Would even be more of a surprise if they can make it a 2-in-1 build like Barracuda Bay, or add some seasonal pieces like they did for the Tree House.
  23. I agree, sets of different themes are being directly compared and dismissed, especially see it when it's comparing a Creator Expert Modular versus a City/3-in-1/Friends building, but also with Winter Village sets. I don't think it's right to compare sets of such different scale/prices directly. And while it's true that even within the same theme, like 3-in-1 had both Hinged and Open back buildings, still can't compare them 1:1 with Creator Expert Modulars imo. I agree that City might not offer the most size/volume for the cost of the buildings, even in a large set like the 2020 Main Square, it's fair to be critical of that, but even then I feel comparing a set that costs less like again, a Creator Expert Modular, is unfair when it comes to pure buildings. Also see it happen on Brickset random set of the day, which displays older sets, when a Town set appears it's usually a mixed reaction of awesome, nostalgia, or calling the set too simple/small/juniors when it's just a typical 80s/early 90s set.
  24. Wouldn't surprise me if the attraction is something like a 3d cinema , which then could be further expanded to a Augmented reality LEGO set theme, as in the replacement of Hidden Side. Maybe even something like LEGO's version of Pokemon Go / Minecraft Earth to go beyond just scanning LEGO sets.
  25. I Never said that Starcraft is "too old" of a game/franchise to have LEGO sets, but when a company announced their main Starcraft game gets no new content updates (posted 15 October 2020), that means they are looking toward either a sequel or a new game entirely, they even say so in the article : https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/starcraft2/23544726/starcraft-ii-update-october-15-2020 Just bad timing to release LEGO Sets on a game on "life support" (still balance updates etc) when other Blizzard games have new expansions coming out and much more "hype" around it. Is Starcraft 2 a dead game? no, it's just not in the spotlight right now. I still believe the planned 2020 Overwatch sets weren't 100% canceled, but moved towards Overwatch 2 release instead based on the original set names having Overwatch 2 elements in it. Blizzcon is usually the place they announce new games/hype but this year it's canceled, moved to early 2021 (Online February 19-20) Overwatch sets were showcased at Blizzcon 2019 as well, with 1 Blizzcon store exclusive LEGO set. As for the NES, yes it's old but also brought back into attention with games like Mario Maker having the 1985 level style, and Mario celebrating their 35 anniversary, perfect timing with the LEGO Super Mario theme. NES games also can be played on Switch.
