  1. I agree this feels way too “moc-ish” for me to be interested. I just finished building mountain fortress and it felt like a better designed set than lion knights castle, that said iv ordered ominous isle, but this is really just missing something. It feels kinda soulless in comparison.
  2. Large Entry 1- Tapu Island by Marooned Marin 2- Escape from imperial trading post by A_goodman 3- Rusty Rudder by Chris Boyd Small Entry 1- Steve origins: Meeting Redbeard by OKY 2- Kings merchant by Marooned Marin 3- Skulls eye schooner by Sevendeadlystreamers
  3. Fantastic raft! I really love small pirate raft builds, and seeing how clever part choice and design are, especially when it comes to Mocs! This one in particular is no different, brilliantly designed base, and interesting enough on the eyes to keep me looking too. Another fantastic build Marin!
  4. This is simply incredible. I always love the builds you submit online here Marin, but this might be my favorite. so much detail and multi layout feature are just 10/10. This would look perfect on display and looks like a fun build / play set. I can’t compliment this nearly as much as it deserves! The modular nature is always a huge plus, the statue redesigns and of course the waterfall all look incredible, but the standout for me is the brick built canoe! Great build and thank you for sharing!
  5. This looks incredible. Would you care to make a rebrickable file?
  6. Piece count kind of suggests a larger display model like the titanic.
  7. Simply stunning!! I don’t even know where to start, but the rock work is incredible, the roof colour variations are brilliant and the trees look wonderful too. can see how much work went into this build, and it’s shows!
  8. Really incredible build! I love the beach design, the tree and clever use of the 4+ figure. Love the water colour gradient too.
  9. I think smaller prizes to garner more entries. That said prizes arnt the attraction, it’s the challenge and the fun of seeing everyone’s fantastic creativity and designs. No complaints as it has been though, all competitions have been well run so far that iv seen!
  10. I absolutely love this design. Would you consider a rebrickable file?
  11. It absolutely is. That set comes with 2 large ones and one baby. The plane build is meh, but it actually inspired me a lot.
  12. Thank you for such kind words. Iv never used any of the digital building programs but for anyone interested I could attempt at making rebrickable instructions. The tower is based off the classic forbidden cove set, a sort of reimagined designed that was my own. The roof was the most challenging because it’s just palm leaves in the original that I wanted to have gone, or not uniform. I actually redesigned the roof about 5 times with my wife telling me that it looked far too organised, before I pulled it apart and simplified it and was actually happy with.
  13. Nice eye! I did try the original style but it just looked wrong, so tried to build one based off the old style from enchanted island and realise I just built the same one from barracuda bay. I toyed with different tiles with the mouth too, and settled on the same layout 🤣
  14. I love this build! Rock building is absolutely not my forte and I’m always impressed by shape and scale, especially here. My overwhelming issue with the build is lack of variety in colour. Be it sand, ocean or wet vs dry rock. I feel with a touch of sand and plant life this would be top notch!
  15. You absolutely succeeded. It made me think instantly of the old backgrounds of sets! It’s why this is my favorite built, instantly recognisable.
  16. A sword would have been better! thank you for the advice!
  17. Thank you for the advice! With a lot of my builds I often go for a more, “Lego set” look rather than an over-engineered MOC look. On shelf I want them to not look too out of place hence the non reliance on vines etc. Regarding the storytelling I always just assumed that ironhook was intended to be a more villainous character and I always saw the islanders as the heroes in that line. I loved pobb because the whole concept of time moving on really struck a cord and inspired me with what classic locations would look like 30 years later. Updated photos with my light box which took a month to arrive and the lighting made everything look digital but oh well.
  18. Beautiful build! Incredible use of storytelling and clever torso choice ;)
  19. This is by far my favorite entry so far. Using modern parts you’ve managed to create something that feels truely “classic” the perspective build is absolutely wonderful!
  20. Wow! I simply don’t have words for how amazing this! I love all of it, but the stern castle is incredible. The scale of ships like this are just something else. Thank you for sharing!
  21. Great entry! I love the stern castle and hull shaping using the rounded slopes! very inspired!
  22. The torso is from newt salamander. One of the fantastic beasts and where to find them sets.
  23. Not at all! Just because I have some purist inclinations doesn’t mean I don’t like a bit of change. I updated part types to more modern versions of the same parts too.
  24. I ended up just using 2x2 rounds. I did it for really cheap. One bricklink seller in aus had all the sails in new condition for cheap and they were in fantastic condition. I had dark brown hull pieces from an moc and surprisingly had a lot of the parts I needed. I upgraded a lot of the parts, like the arches, I used modern ones, etc. the 2 hardest parts to get were the dark blue feather ornaments, and the dark brown slopes and the previously discussed reddish brown poles which seems like everyone for sale online seems damaged so I’m not too upset about not forking out $100au for those.
  25. Before Steve had the cutter, Steve was a mere navigator, after helping red beard navigate the treacherous waters on his crew, he was given a map and his freedom. Setting sail to make his fortune Steve headed towards previously explored coves in search of a treasure never found. From a distance, he spotted a cove, a forbidden cove. Spotting what looked like a cave he made his way towards it before realising another approach maybe be better. Another cave led to what looked like a bad omen; so he continued around the back to what looked like some sort of crocodile cage. Inside Steve spotted something that made him smile, and began hastily loading the spoils into his small boat. And left with dreams of supplying rich imperials with his bigger boat. Shortly after, a long lost island came looking for something else, to find what had happened to his king and his throne. He found clues of who had done this, can you spot it too? hope you liked my revisit with Steve to some old familiar locations, just a bit older and a bit more damaged. The entire build is modular and clicks together in 4 different ways though it doesn’t offer much in the way of alternate display. Feel free to find more at my Flickr, and thank you for looking. I love the islanders them and building this was incredibly fun.
