Which Pirates sets have (or may have) problem with brittle brown bricks?
thewatchman replied to zinnn's topic in LEGO Pirates
This is exactly what I used to think until the last 6 months. Baring in mind I live in Australia and we are having a heatwave! Might be accelerating the process -
Which Pirates sets have (or may have) problem with brittle brown bricks?
thewatchman replied to zinnn's topic in LEGO Pirates
I bought one of these in mint condition for an moc I built and did the exact same thing about a week ago! Noticed on my display shelf that it was sitting out of the clip, so I gently attempted to push it back into place and it shattered. I had never had this problem until this year when half the reddish brown I own seems to break. -
[ENTRY] 6267 Lagoon Lock-Up/Soldiers’ Tavern Remake

Still curious about this also! Would love a copy on my shelf! -
Iv held off on commenting on this because I needed to gather my thoughts because iv got a lot! First, iv supported this, and think it one of the best independent creations iv seen in lego building. It’s not a remake, or an “inspired by”, its a totally new creation, every single brick seems to have been considered, such as the leaning statue at the docks, the beautiful tree work at the rear of the outpost, and the wonderful alive feeling of the foliage at the dock. If this was an offical product I’d buy tomorrow, hell, if I had the instruction and part listings I’d build a copy tomorrow, a brilliant construction and truely inspirational. Now, my one talking point, is that it feel very “ethereal” I’d like the idea of it being a bit wrecked and having pirates / imperials fighting over the ruins of a prior faction. But maybe I’m just projecting storyline into builds. regardless, wonderful build, brilliantly designed, 10/10

The brick bounty and brick beards bounty are not good ships from my perspective. The figs in both are decent, but I’d recommend trying for either in box new or built once and displayed 2015 sets. Parting them out via bricklink isn’t really viable due to the huge cost of the figs on the secondary market.

I especially like the gun rack and statue. Incredible builds!

Weird you posted this. I’m currently working on a destroyed fort / pirate camp. That said in terms of classic styling it’s pretty cool! good work!

Yeah I think if it has a decent selection of parts it might be a good purchase! maybe new hull pieces in a better colour range.
-
My thoughts exactly.

New 2024 Harry Potter getting a classic style ship!
-
Totally! A collectible range would be awesome! I think it’s likely we might see more sets rolled into larger builds, like a selection of 4-5 classics sets merged into one bigger build. Though in regards to the icons line, I feel like the islanders enchanted island may be next on the remake list

Don’t get me wrong, I actually prefer the designer program sets, but it’s a stretch to refer to them as offical themed sets.
-
Yeah we arnt exactly starved for part out sets, however; BL designer programs arnt “offical” sets. Same as the Legoland set, it’s more a theme park set like the pirate roller coaster. I’d be excited for the BAM if it wasn’t just new legs for an old torso print.

Literally zero chance of a barracuda remake, we had one a few years ago. Without the potc movie advertising the set I can’t see us getting a pearl as much as I’d like it. The fandoms criticism of Eldorado I think might actually be a bit of a nail in the coffin for pirate remakes. I think the new set is incredible and seeing people complaining about things like a cannon being near an admirals quarters on a child’s construction set is ridiculous. lego know they are kind of between a rock and a hard place with pirates as a genre right now, they will price themselves out of sales making moc sized sets to appeal to adult fans, and without making a whole new run, they arnt going to make small play sets that might not sell well. im guessing a collectable line in a few years time, maybe with a few small play set builds, and the standard brown pirate ship with red and white sails because it’s a safe bet sales wise.

I don’t know how this is “problematic” the islanders were always seen as sympathetic and in control. I love the islanders subtheme and modern over politicisation of everything has to sweep in and ruin things again. How dare islander nations have representation 🙄

Slight sterncastle updates.

That is reddish brown

This is beautiful 😍 I love the shaping and the colour choice! simply incredible!

[OFFICIAL] 40710 LEGOLAND Pirate Splash Battle

Lego should understand this. They rereleased the millennium falcon when after market prices skyrocketed. Looking at the bnib prices of even the lamest 2009 sets, they are incredibly high, and they sell. But being their own worst enemy, lego constantly keep releasing a reddish brown small hull with a red / dark red cabin. The last 3 ships they officially released have all been near carbon copies of one another. I tried to get my hands on one of the pirate advent calendars over the Christmas season this year and couldn’t find one that wasn’t the same price as a small house, a kidney or wanting my first born child in return for it. Time will tell; but it seems as of now that they don’t have faith in pirate sets selling, which is confusing considering how much money they pumped into videyo; hiddenside; and now dreamz all to mediocre receptions. -

It’s actually a bit frustrating how many non pirate pirate sets we get. Castaway, roller coaster, friends wrecked ship roller coaster, city sunken treasure ship, pirate treehouse, pirate slide, and now pirate splash zone. I would hazard a guess that most pirate fans were initially excited upon hearing about these sets, then instantly disappointed once they find out it’s just city pirates range. -

Yeah, seems like it’s due. Not sure I’m ready for the “CITY; pirates” theme though. -

Probably the same one. It’s a bad image but you can make out certain things. The small masts might inspire some smaller build boats too.
