Another Aussie here huh? Maybe I dislike the piece from over exposure. Much prefer macaws! -

With a bit of luck, some privateers, soldiers, or some asiatic pirates would be incredible. Or more islanders because they are my favourites. -

What’s with the lime dot speckling on the sleeve line? And the gold tooth seems a bit off. That and I dunno why they used the cockatoo rather than a new McCaw or parrot part. The leg printing is cool; useful for dnd figs I suppose. -
Maybe I got the source wrong. Let me see if I can find the origin of it. Pretty sure I screenshot it. my bad, was someone responding to you.

[OFFICIAL] One Piece LEGO Theme - PRE-ORDERS
thewatchman replied to thewatchman's topic in LEGO Pirates
Clay said earlier this year that one piece sets were being considered. The same leak said f1 collectible minifigures, another series of marvel collectible figs (spider verse) and more fortnight sets. considering the others have all come true, I’d say the one piece (Netflix not anime series) ones are what he’s talking about. -

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be one piece sets and I’m not thrilled about that -
Hmm I’m guessing a big ship and maybe some cool builds. Fingers crossed for non licensed sets for me!

[OFFICIAL] Pirate Quartermaster - Collectible Minifigure Series 27

That’s a knife that cuts both ways. A female head could be put on pretty much all the previous pirate torsos with no issue. More pieces from these cmfs are gendered than other pirate figures. -

Yeah no issue at all with that. But with 4/5 of the last pirates being women, and none of them being anything other than “generic pirate” is the problem. I’d love to see a governess, or island females to pair with the last islanders cmf we got. It’s the lack of range that’s stifling. I’d argue that the cmf line has become overly tokenistic over the past 5-6 lines but that’s a debate for another day, and why the dnd line will likely be remembered for being the best ever made. -

Pretty much this. Too afraid of conforming to gender stereotypes or roles. I really don’t mind female pirates in my collection, I have all the previously released ones. I just think that maybe an imposing type Blackbeard would be cool, the constant stream of “swashbucklers / ren fair hipster” pirates just isn’t really that interesting. -

Pretty disappointed that sallewag sloop and tapu island got overlooked. I wanted a wolfpac set but this just isn’t it. -

Mid sized legs awful fabric skirt terrible hair mold how is this a quartermaster? Hipster bird handler with knife accessory seems more applicable. Honestly without the sword would anyone actually think this is a pirate? -
I’m pretty sure it’s just me, because iv seen nothing but support for the titanic set, this and the yacht set from a few years ago. But I just have no interest in non pirate ships released by the company, especially in micro scale.

Rather than retooling molds couldn’t they just do modernised remakes and make them direct to customer? A lot of older parts / molds had problems with structural integrity etc. And even if they did remold them, you’re never, ever getting printed parts. Every detail on older bricks would 100% be stickers. Greedy idea cashing in on people missing the originals or simply being born too late. Gross.

I don’t want to rain on anybody’s parade here and I’m happy so many people seem to like these sets but they are literally everything wrong with legos current business model. Making vaguely themed mini builds that are lame duck copies of pre-released sets (ship in a bottle / dnd mimic dice box) is lazy; and locking them behind insider reward points purchases is just plain garbage. (Not that id buy them if they were available on shelf anyway) lego seem to be suffering from the same problem that the movie / tv industry and maybe even video games industry to an extent is. A lack of originality, leading to constant remakes of older sets purely for nostalgia points (castle / pirates) or just constantly remaking the same set they made 5-10 years ago (Star Wars / superheroes) I’m just glad we have the bricklink designer sets now, because even if lego did another pirates run, I don’t actually trust them to produce anything of any value or any interest, and if the latest cmf “pirate” is any indication I’m happy the theme is retired.
