Before Steve had the cutter, Steve was a mere navigator, after helping red beard navigate the treacherous waters on his crew, he was given a map and his freedom. Setting sail to make his fortune Steve headed towards previously explored coves in search of a treasure never found. From a distance, he spotted a cove, a forbidden cove. Spotting what looked like a cave he made his way towards it before realising another approach maybe be better. Another cave led to what looked like a bad omen; so he continued around the back to what looked like some sort of crocodile cage. Inside Steve spotted something that made him smile, and began hastily loading the spoils into his small boat. And left with dreams of supplying rich imperials with his bigger boat. Shortly after, a long lost island came looking for something else, to find what had happened to his king and his throne. He found clues of who had done this, can you spot it too? hope you liked my revisit with Steve to some old familiar locations, just a bit older and a bit more damaged. The entire build is modular and clicks together in 4 different ways though it doesn’t offer much in the way of alternate display. Feel free to find more at my Flickr, and thank you for looking. Absolutely. If he could shed some light on if it was a prototype, or just a fun moc would be interesting. Strangely enough it uses the same sail and white bannisters as the ship wreck set.

I believe he is talking about this. At first I thought it was a perspective trick but the end appears to be flat; and antenna had rounded ends until 2012 or something so it appears to have been cut and sanded resulting in a slightly “matte” finish.

I dunno, I built it recently and a lot of it holds up. I’d prefer an actual armada ship that a remake of a remake.

A few minor mods to make it look a little more modern. I really loved the 2023 skeleton pirate, absolutely deserved it’s own build! The pirate is “Mr kidd” due to his youthful appearance. I think a few core characters like monster hunters would be cool; including a truce between a pirate and imperial characters against the skeletons.

The round floor plate is a great suggestion, I’ll change that for sure. I’m thinking a raft or small ship, a heroes and villains “armoury” style sets and maybe eventually a skeleton ship.

I’m currently challenging myself to create a pirates 5 collection using the spooky pirate island as inspiration. Starting with: Spooky Cannon Calamity Featuring 2 minifigures, and 39 pieces. All pirate themes to date have included a small cannon battle involving a small wall or fortress and wanted this run to be no different. Any ideas for builds in this “theme” would be greatly appreciated!

Ah I resorted to this but I’m still not happy with the replacement. Their is no square reddish brown 2x2 with a hole so it looses a little of the design aesthetic.

This I didn’t know! Thank you for sharing. I had actually considered buying a few of those and the tic-tac-toe set to space out my range of figs.

This is almost certainly the wrong place for this discussion, but I’m currently parting out the imperial flagship and have all the parts and figs, for very cheap, aside from 6 damn pieces. 6168c01 in reddish brown. Does anyone have a solution to brick building a replacement part?

Quietly optimistic about this. While it won’t date correctly with my pirate ship, making some small nip/ tucks might make it look like a cool merchant vessel.

Each to their own. I find this hugely disappointing. Covered in stickers, bland and boring and not really scaled right to anything. Hard pass, which is a shame because I had high hopes for this set.

It’s the small lean-too on the right. The rebrickable file is available for free but I felt like it needed another small side build.

I had been wanting to expand on “pirate island” moc by ‘chrisbrickman’ on rebrickable, so iv combined it with a smugglers shanty throw together iv done. hope you all like!

This is pretty awesome! I used a lot of medium nougat on a ship build long ago and loved how it looked. I love the hullshaping you’ve done, and I don’t dislike the bowser-esqe colour scheme either. Down the road I might try it paired with dark blue as a contrast colour. That said this a gorgeous ship! Thank you for sharing it!

Finally got around to finishing my build of this up. Just wanted to thank you again for making this available, it was a great build that I had a lot of fun with! I used the BB palm tree method as the wheel clips just don’t hold, but kept the plant pot base section.

Agreed. It was the most enjoyable build iv ever experienced.

Ah I’ll give my thoughts here, but they probably deserve to be on the historic forums thread. I don’t hate this set but everything about it feels like a compromise. I watched the video with the set designer and he was clearly very unhappy with the stickered elements and even made a snarky comment about the parents of the cheese maker being at market because they arnt present. What I think hurts the most about this set and the same applies to the d&d set, is seeing the “early drafts” of what they were to be. The leaked images of the market had a grand tree, plenty of animals and a jester on stilts, that made it feel a lot more alive. The d&d set looked incredible in the early submission, people voted on a product that they saw and liked, only for lego to bait and switch the majority of the design and absolutely butcher the dragon in the process. Nostalgia baiting fans with “look and exclusive torso for a faction that you had as a child” will only go so far in terms of selling sets, and it’s a pretty gross business model to work from, and that’s all this set is. A poor remake of a better set, built ten years ago with more limited part selections.

Good to be a family man! Introduce the next generation of builders hopefully half as good! But this is very very impressive!
