This looks so good!
-
You think so? It’s pretty spartan by even legos own standards. The 3-1 cabin is better, imperial flagship, pobb; and even the original black seas barracuda has a better cabin imo.
-
Totally agree. It’s an absolute train wreck. For arguably the most iconic film ship of all time, it should have been a usc style ship akin to imperial flagship. Don’t get me started on the lack of actual crew too. No cotton; no parrot; no marty and somehow no Pintel and ragetti???!

Basically the ships wheel pushes a plate left or right that steers the rudder but you end up with this ugly plate sticking through the captains cabin.
-
These are my exact complaints. I hate the swivel cannons, no wheels, no movement, and the rudder feature is trash as the rest of the build suffers for it. The colour scheme is probably the most egregious. Iv already mentioned it here so I won’t go into it, but why they chose red green and grey I’ll never understand.

[MOC] Crossed Bones Ship COMPLETE! (Until disaster struck)
thewatchman replied to Elephant Knight's topic in Pirate MOCs
I’m feeling your pain building a predominately reddish brown ship. Iv very rarely had parts break but 2x10 plates and 1x4 tiles feel like they are made or plaster.- 23 replies

I love this! I also saw it on ideas, and supported it. I love the shaping of the forecastle and the napkin sails.

What location/scene come to your mind when thinking about Pirates...
thewatchman replied to zinnn's topic in LEGO Pirates
Give me more islanders, krakens, leviathans, sirens, and skeleton crews. These can be kept relatively kid friendly and be modded into whaling ships etc for adult fans. -

Yeah Asian / African pirates would be pretty cool. -
Since it looks like the Sabre island gwp myth was just that, I wanted to try my hand at creating a lego style gwp based on one of my favourite classic sets. Please excuse the lack of figs and red row boat. I will add them and update at a later date.

A proper armada line would be cool. Maybe a supernaturally inclined line, sea monsters / ghost pirates v imperials. -
Yep! That’s the one. Glad to hear I inspired some builds! Would love to see him in everyone else’s layout.
-
I havnt even considered that but something small might work! Most ships have had a cool custom built chair so I’ll give it a go!
-
Perth also. Get on board with bricklink, many stores will supply you with parts at a fraction of the price of PAB.
-
Post some pics of it! I’d love to see. Always good to hear from a fellow Aussie here too. 👍

Few more updates, cabin complete, it’s a bit busy and I do want to put some tiles / plates down as a rug. constructive criticism more than welcome, any help is appreciated!

Finally got around to modding a fig up for the captain. The torso was the closest colour wise, and felt like a true representation of the original.
-
Yeah I missed this one and the Shakespeare one too. Very expensive aftermarket too.
-
We’ve all been there! I missed the shelf release of a lot of the pirates sets from 2009 and 2015 and had to buy a lot on the secondary market due to my dark ages too. I feel like the conquistador doesn’t really represent the armada quite as well as other minis we got. The thespian torso is perfect for a modernisation of the one we got.
-
Just a small mod of the enchanted island catamaran with some updated piece selection. I did the “el dorado” treatment of keeping it as close as possible while trying to give it an updated look. As I didn’t want a set with 20 year old stickers I decided on some small coloured tiles to try incorporate a small amount of colour, and the sail is simply a placeholder until I can get an original in new condition. Hope you all like!
-
Probably like the conquistador mini we got in the collectable line.

everything fitting in comfortable so far! Bit of sterncastle work, far from finished.
