2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
thewatchman replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Mountain fortress is by a wide margin the best lego castle set of all. Followed closely by lion knights. That said, the techniques involved in creating the rock parts outside and some of the detailing on the high tower far outshines lion knights. -
Absolutely gorgeous. This is the kind of sets lego should be producing rather than fomo gwp trash. the head detail (especially the jaw) and body shape is fantastic. let me know if you put this on rebrickable or something like that.

The torsos are entirely redeemable. And maybe the face masks without helmets? These would look incredible with the cylindrical style helmets. That said the griffin knights look amazing. -

I’m thinking the same thing. I really don’t like the face shroud / Viking helmet combo. Looks plain weird. -
This was my first thought seeing them too!
-
A yes would have sufficed. I also agree that most mocs look better.
-
You don’t think the head looks oversized and cartoony? It’s horribly misproportioned, and the solid black colour scheme hurts it a lot considering the brick head version was colour mixed. Overall when dealing with a 1200 part set, these issues are unforgivable considering the price bracket.

I’m sure I’ll get ripped to shreds for suggesting this, but: 1- I don’t hate the concept, and the different coloured pillars are a great idea for implied lighting. 2- that balrog design is quite possibly the ugliest thing iv seen in a lego set lately. Honestly it looks like one of the stupid mixel monsters plonked into the middle of a somewhat intricately designed set, surely I can’t be the only person seeing this?

Incredible in scale and detail! A rare combination. The detailing in shape is amazing, interior and the gardens too! Congrats on such a fantastic piece. -

Couldn’t agree more. -
2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
thewatchman replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Why would anyone not want elf’s and goblins? Any variety for fantasy builds is great. Anyone pointing at kingdom sets selling bad or performing badly is probably more due to the horrific set design of the early 2000s in all non licensed themes. -
I threw together a small build for the “twist of nostalgia” gwp contest on the lego ideas page, the theme was a time progressed version with the previous knight as an undead with a new knight challenging him. Also partly inspired by the tree build of the old magisto set with a tree growing from a similar nook. If anyone requests later I can pull it apart and put step by step building instructions together on Flickr. Any feedback or constructive criticism is welcome, if you’d like to comment feel free on the competition page! cheers!

You can see the edge of the sticker, so it is.

The colour changes actually make me want this set. Feels more vibrant and less sepia tone.

Any tips for building the back of a pirate ship

Ship butt is now my offical name for the stern of a boat. -

Absolutely agree but the back of the pearl crawled so the barracuda could soar 😂. Personally I love the much higher arches, looks far better and creates a better “platform” to build the sterncastle on. -

If you look at the merlons on the walls, they are just 1x1 great blocks with studs on top. This looks unfinished and poor. For the inclusion of about 6 1x1 tiles they could have made this look much much better. This feels lazy and greedy and I don’t even want to think about the price. If they wanted to just give fans the figs, make smaller battle sets. -
Any tips for building the back of a pirate ship

Your best option is to look at the instructions for “non molded” backed ships already made. The black pearl and the barracuda bay ships both don’t use a back piece for them. Raised arches of various heights are good for giving the illusion of “more of the ship under the water” and you can choose how much of the rudder you want visible with this method, -
Congrats on getting this picked for production! I’m curious to know if they will want to modify it from the original submission much? Will it come with fabric sails? So many questions.

[OFFICIAL] LEGO Icons 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship
thewatchman replied to CloneCommando99's topic in LEGO Pirates
Icons mid sized garbage would honestly be worse that 4184. Releasing it at the same time as a Star Trek kit has implications seeing as though they are both going to be icons sets. So likely mini scale ship and mini scale enterprise. Between these and the god awful decision to make the first Zelda kit a horrifically over priced grey tree, they need to have a sit down discussion about the sets they are choosing to launch or relaunch themes. -

No I didn’t hear it from there. But a very trusted leaker who has been consistently correct: -

Yeah hearing that it’s likely midi scale garbage killed any interest. I suspect that the one piece sets might not sell as good as they believe considering it’s based on the Netflix series and not the anime / manga. I did the same last year, built a 2500 piece ucs black pearl using the barracuda hull and sails from official set and I love it. -

Current rumour mill seems to be suggesting that the icons pirates of the Caribbean set will be the black pearl. In endurance scale. With a single Jack sparrow minifigure. Article with even more details -
Incredible! My favorite lego ship moc iv ever seen.
