  1. >< 109.99 USD is a bit much for that set. But in Japan set 75148 Encounter on Jakku (ジャクーの戦い)is currently sitting at 82$ on Amazon Japan. I can only imagine how much they will charge for set 75158 when it is set to debut here. But I am sure whatever the price will be; that 109.99$ will seem like mana from heaven by comparison. What makes all of this sting more is that USA prices are considered overpriced. If that is overpriced then I am getting robbed blind >< I am sure this sentiment is shared in other regions where Star Wars set prices balloon to levels beyond comprehension.
  2. In my experience it is rare for film as a medium to surpass the written works which inspire them. The two media convey their narratives in different ways and it just so happens that books convey more. Mostly because the written word has to fill in the gaps for lack of visual narrative modes. But unlike movies, books have had centuries to get their craft down. All that being said on occasion there is a rare piece of cinematic brilliance that far outshines the book it is based on. I would contend The Last of the Mohicans (1992) is one of those few gems that fits that bill. The pacing of the story is much improved by the film and the characterization is far more engaging, in particular, that of the eponymous Mohicans. The musical score also helped drive the mood in every scene the cinematography conveyed just as much weight as any line being uttered.
  3. great snaps. Looks like a lively section of town!
  4. Simply fantastic. Love the bulky look you have going on there. The colors are superb as well!
  5. So true. I am guess my eyes are reaching their threshold because I was having a hard time 2 days ago telling the gun metal light saber hilt apart from the all black ones >< Gah I felt so old!
  6. I am not a big fan of stickers. However, after just dealing with it i find they do add to a lot to the look of a set. I wish it was more balanced out though. Stickers on big flat pieces, sure Ill deal with that. Stickers on a curved canopy? NO! Common LEGO print those please (I was mighty nervous getting my canopy just right on my Resistance Transporter).
  7. Comparing these year over year it doesn't seem like anything is disappointing per se. Sure some individual sets have not been well received, but generally speaking there is something for just about anyone. City is going on with, well City stuff. Just like in previous years. Creator has released yet more little vehicle builds with lots of useful pieces (specially for me as it is a cheap way to get parts to squeeze does big tires into the chassis of my 4-stud-wide cars) Star Wars has been limited to Rebels and FO but that is understandable given those series are more recent. NEXO Knights has been mixed but personally after getting a couple of the sets I am a convert. They're really really fun to fiddle with and come with interesting parts. There is only more to look forward to as far as I can tell. We still have the winter wave to contend with. I think it is too early to write off 2016 just yet.
  8. Oh drat, now that Deluxe edition they want a 100 bucks for here in Japan is looking more tempting than ever ! !!!!!! grrrrrrr!
  9. I know the feels, I am seriously scaling back on LEGO SW going forward >< Just getting a decent force of FO Stormies and Rebels has cost way too much for the end volume in LEGO I got. Specially in Japanese prices. The good thing is it makes it easy to knock items off a list as prices become clearer. Down side is there are many desired sets I will just never have.
  10. Hahah! That is so great! Love the concept and execution!
  11. I think there is something to be said for this. Fans who come into this fairly tabula rasa have a more objective approach than long entrenched fans I think. I too recently watched again the entire run of both trilogies and I found I tolerate the prequels (to different degrees per installment) more than I did when I was younger. When analyzing the story as a whole though is when the prequels really fall apart for me. While I appreciate the narrative Lucas was trying to push with the prequels, in the end it was not as well told as those of the original trilogy. (Although that may not be saying much, I think a lot of the meat of OT was filled in with our minds) Still I love me the cowboys-with-samurai-in-space soap-opera we all call Star Wars.
  12. I noticed this also with the Knighton Ballista thingy set. The 4 studs on the royal guard forced the position he occupies in the build to be either standing or sitting but notice there is no back-rest either way. After some time of looking at it, it felt rather bare-bones for the operator. Still I like the look of the 4 stud armor piece. As the line grows I hope we get some new parts to make low back rests or a new molded seat piece to accommodate the larger size of a fully geared figure.
  13. Yuss! Now this is what NEXO should turn into. Armies and armies of these.
  14. Now that is such a good take on the events of the theme! Always great to see stuff like this and that the ship is a beauty adds to that. Great job!
  15. Don't have access to western comics around here. But Ive been reading Noragami a ton. The initial run was a lot of fun and that is not usually my type of Manga. The original Eureka 7 is also on my annual re-read list. Love that manga.
  16. I wish these came with their hair pieces. That would make these really ultimate. Still I am enjoying this line so far. Is anyone going to get multiples of these to make armies of future space knights?
  17. I had stopped buying LEGOS by the time I started middle school. They never crossed my mind for the longest time. We had got my daughter a bucket of bricks for one her birthdays but even then I still did not get into it again. Then one day last December I saw the swamp police station set for half off at a department store. My wife and I said what the heck and got it. Not having touched a LEGO in nearly 20 years and seeing the way LEGO was making big jeeps and other assemblies I became hooked again. >.> Now I buy way too much LEGO per month but it really is enjoyable. I build with my kids and generally just a ball tearing stuff apart and making new wacky stuff out of all the bricks. Creative hobby is creative. I don't think I will stop collecting ever now.
  18. Now that is one cool TIE! I love the arrow head shaping to the wings. Plus those extra engines on the side couplings look awesome!
  19. Don't they sort of match up? I am in Japan (considerably far from any other region not Asia) and all city sets that are allowed to be sold here will begin sale on 6/4. Has Canada had largely different release dates compared to the U.S.?If not I would imagine June 1st being a good time to look around and see if any stores near you have new LEGO inventory =) The only exception for us is NEXO Knights, their summer wave will arrive sometime after 8/1 here. City and Star Wars all 6/4. (though that usually refers to the arrival date to consumer, meaning likely 6/1 or 6/2 for store inventory arrivals) +++EDIT+++ Gah just double checked release dates again. LEGO City summer sets are out July 1st not June 4th. June 4th only applies to Star Wars sets. Now I am sad ; ; Next I'll hear fun in the park is a regional exclusive >< grr.
  20. Well it is a movie, a story-telling vehicle. Of course the protagonists would never get hit! Even if you add all sorts of in-universe reasons they still won't get hit. It would end the film too quickly. It does get tiresome after a few movies to see the bad guys have so much epic fail on their aim but that is how that goes. Notice when it matters to the story heroes do die (all those Jedi shot after Order 66 was put into effect, Obi-Wan in ANH etc). Again vehicles to get the story going somewhere. I do, however, hope we start seeing Stormtroopers worth the hype (trained since birth! hello!!!) in Episode VIII going forward. If Rogue 1 establishes Stormtroopers as being actually decent militarily then it will set a good tone for that in EPVIII as it will be fresh in people's heads. TR8R was a good start, he totally owned Finn and was about to spread Finn's head like butter all over Takodana until some do-gooder intervened. Give me more like that, specially since I love the new trilogy Stormtroopers.
  21. This looks great. The nose in particular is fantastic. After seeing how the NEXO line up used the motorcycle part but backwards I was wondering if there was a way to use that piece in that same way here going into the housing of the speeder? It might make the build a bit more slender and have Rey sit on it in a better way than on 4 studs. But getting the dual engine pods seems like it won't look right at all with that piece. Still I wonder if it is possible.
  22. I like the inclusion of the apron! Though I fear to ask what the menu is for dinner.
  23. I appreciate that summary. I am slowly moving my budget to NEXO as Star Wars is incredibly expensive where I live. NEXO on the other hand seems to always get a sale around here. Not sure if that means it is not popular here but I appreciate my money getting more LEGO than not.
  24. Well that is a relief. Time to plot out my purchases lol. Thanks!
  25. I took the plunge on this line with 70310 and 70311 and I must say I am actually liking the theme more than I thought I would. Also I realized living in Japan these sets sell for much cheaper than even city sets. Whats up with that??? Anyone have any sense on how this series is doing sales-wise? I'd like to get a bit more into it but am afraid LEGO may discontinue it rather quickly if sales aren't up to snuff.
