Haha, the BuWizzes do not really add structure, but I did have structure prevail over removable BuWizzes. I might still make the BuWizzes removable from underneath, but I fear it would be practically impossible to put them back with all the wires routed correctly. Would be great if you could do a test with two BuWizzes! It would be most useful if you could do that outside, or at least with about 10 meters distance. Sofar I only experienced problems outside.

[MOC] 2018 Supercar
Didumos69 replied to offroadcreations's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It gives a completely different wheel-engine gear ratio. It changes by a factor 5. But maybe it gives a more realistic engine rpm. -
Good to know others are experiencing the same issue, albeit with the Brickcontroller app. I just ordered a game controller to try with the Brickcontroller app, but I don't expect much from it now. I somehow have the feeling it has to do with the remote device (phone/iPad) used. Btw, yesterday I drove around for 15 minutes without any problems. I used my Xiao Mi A1 phone and the BuWizz app like before.

[MOC] Audi Rally Car

A yellow line along the bottom of the body, like in set 8880. And white seats. Very nice MOC btw! I'm looking forward to seeing a video as well!- 32 replies

Seats and bottom of the flanks, with a hole in the seats to reach the BuWizz mini-usb and the on/off button:

While I'm still trying to fix connectivity problems with 2 BuWizzes (which imo makes the BuWizz feel really amateurish), I continued the build. I spent a lot of time defining steps in LDD (in terms of groups) and had to make some changes to make it buildable. And today I modified the framework to incorporate the M-motor driving the V8 and to provide the necessary mounting points for the bodywork. Then I made start with the roof. I have all the parts available now, so it shouldn't take long before all is done.

@Offroadcreat1ons, if you would use different parts for the hinge, you could bring the hinge closer to the door, which would make the door more stable. It also allows the hinge (the bent liftarms) to move a stud upwards, which would make the door move less forward when it opens. That would avoid the door from colliding with the wheels when turned. It's up to you.

Go to: View->New theme->LDD Extended. Now you have more parts on the palette, but only one color. You can switch colors at the bottom of the palette. I'm certainly not done. I'm also waiting for the gearbox to be able continue. I could do some work on supporting the bodywork better, like @Jeroen Ottens asked, but based on the building experience of @Carsten Svendsen the parts that are supposed to support the fender-flex-axles are too close to the wheels. Perhaps @Jeroen Ottens could try to resolve that part of the bodywork before the gearbox arrives?

Well, if you mean 'create building instrructions with LDD', then no. That feature won't help. Btw, did you also consider building @jb70's version? It has all the necessary fixes, quite some feature of my ultimate version and some more things like working doorlocks. And it has full-blown instructions. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-8003/jb70/42056-pimp-up-my-porsche/#info

Attitudes and mindsets
Didumos69 replied to Bublehead's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, I have had my issues with some things happening on this forum. Mostly about people cheering for MOCs that wouldn't meet any of my self-imposed buidling rules. Also about people just posting MOCs to show them and then cut down any constructive critisism. But in the end I guess this is how it is and there's not much we can do about it. Having a discussion like this is good, but I don't think it'll really bring change. So I accepted all that comes with this forum, because in the end I experience this forum as an enrichment to my hobby. What helps is that over time you get to know like-minded people on this forum. -
The French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery wrote: "Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." And there is always something that could be left out or made simpler without compromising your MOC. So, a MOC is never finished, but at some point you'll have enough ideas to start something new, and than slowly a new MOC reveals itself and the old one will slowly move to the background.

Bugatti Chiron 1:8

I was of course asking for that a little, but I feel honored my rugged supercar front axles have been a small source of inspiration for this epic build. Thanks! I simply love this image !- 46 replies

Very clean model! This is the type of video I can stare at for hours. It has something meditative to it.- 28 replies

Thanks! I don't have an Android game controller. Given that there is so much difference between my phone and my IPad, I will first try with yet another remote. I'm also a little afraid the battery protection circuit is activated. I can imagine that in sharp turns the rear motors rotate much slower than the front motors, which might trouble the rear motors. So, I will also try with the left-rear motor and right-front motor connected to one BuWizz and with the right-rear motor and left-front motor connected to the other BuWizz. Still, the strange thing is that when one BuWizz disconnects, the other is powerfull enough to drive the car slowly while it is actually also driving the two halting motors connected to the stopped BuWizz. In the troubleshooting section of the BuWizz manual, it is stated that when the battery protection circuit is activated, the BuWizz stops. What does 'stop' mean in this context: does it disconnect or does it turn off? With my problem the BuWizz only disconnects.

Bugatti Chiron 1:8
Didumos69 replied to Leviathan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is very recognizable. When you look at a model for a long time it becomes your reference. I'm experiencing the same thing with my builds, even without trying to replicate a real car. Btw, also your anti-roll-bar-setup and your torsion bars look very familiar . You're making this point quite often and you're probably quite right, but you have to realize that stock LEGO sets are not only confined by building standards, but also by costs. In a build like this, I suppose @Leviathan did not make any compromises towards the quality of his constructions and features, where LEGO would. So you could also turn it around: LEGO will never meet the high building standards of builders like @Leviathan. In the end, comparing this kind of builds (with no compromises) with stock LEGO sets, is comparing apples and oranges.- 46 replies

I have taken my 4WD RC Buggy outside quite some times now and I'm experiencing the following problem. I use 2 BuWizzes, 1 for the front wheels (2 L-motors) + steering (servo) and 1 for the rear wheels (2 L-motors) After driving around for a few minutes, sometimes even after a few seconds, one of the BuWizzes disconnects. It doesn't matter if I'm in normal, fast or ludicrous mode, it doesn't matter whether I'm close to or at 20 meters from the model and it doesn't matter on what surface I'm driving, tarmac or cobblestones. I have two devices that I use as remote, an IPad Mini 1 and a modern Android One phone (Xiaomi Mi A1). The IPad connects (start engine) easily, but disconnects one of the BuWizzes within one to two minutes. The phone connects to both BuWizzes only once in 5 to 10 attempts, but connections last much longer. But after a 3 to 5 minutes also one of the BuWizzes disconnects. I'm beginning to think I should buy a new IPad or something, to get these connections to last, but that would actually be quite ridiculous imo. My model is 1250gr and the drivetrain is very smooth (there's only one u-joint or one pair of 12t gears involved in connecting a motor to a wheel). I don't feel like I'm doing anything the BuWizzes shouldn't be able to handle. Is there anyone who has a similar experience with connecting to 2 BuWizzes simultaneously? Or anyone who has experience with connecting to 2 BuWizzes at all?
