I tested a little more, but the hubs with 5L axles-with-stop are not as good as the ones with the old / shorter 5.5L axles. The nice thing about the 5.5L axle is that the 'stop' can be completely locked up inbetween thin liftarms / levers, which are in turn tied together with pins. This ensures the 5.5L axle can only move if it moves together with these thin liftarms / levers. So I decided to stick to the rare short 5.5L axle. Even though they are rare, they are not expensive on Bricklink. I painted them black in the digital files, because all black copies of the 5.5L axles are the older / shorter version. The final LXF-file with build steps in terms of groups can be found here. LDR-file here. This shows the final hub: Here is also the final parts list (click to open in high-resolution):

Looking good in red! I would use black (0x)-pieces in the flanks and in the nose instead of DBG ones and white ones. Thanks! It should be a matter of a couple of weeks to finish instructions.

Yes, in my [MOC] Sequential AWD 4-speed gearbox w/ V8. After refining the paddle shifter principle of the Porsche (with the use of half pins), I found out I could use the same refined principle for a two-way shifter. The refined principle is being used in several MOCs: jb70's MOC - 42056 Pimp up my Porsche Madoca 1977's [MOC] Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Jeroen Ottens [MOC] Ferrari 458 Spider Pvdb's [MOC] Ultimatum GTR v10 Supercar Rudivdk's [WIP] [MOC] High performance car Paul Boratko's Outlaw (although he prefers to refer to it as variations on the 42056 paddle shifter, which is also true) Didumos69's [MOC] Rugged supercar - Hammerhead (1:9 scale) And I think I'm forgetting some.. -

@Bublehead, yes, I get the idea. When I built this a few years ago I played with it endlessly. I kept it in the pocket of my coat when commuting and clicked around while it sat there, whenever nobody paid attention. My kids and I drove my wife crazy with this clicking sound. A wise man ever said to me: A man sometimes needs to pause and take the time to admire his own work. -

I have two kids. My son builds LEGO sets - Technic or other - by the instruction booklet. When he discovers an error, he reverses the steps until he arrives at the step where he made an error. Also when the mistake could have been solved without stepping back. When it's done, the only joy is to take it apart and build it again. He doesn't play with the end-result. My daughter is a completely different story. For her following the instructions is boring. After a few steps she starts making her own steps and eventually she builds something completely different and when she's finished she can play with her own creation for hours. I fear I am in the same category of LEGO builders as my daughter . -

Maybe TLG anticipated leaked imaged by sending a simple box to early recipients. Who knows? -

In my bricksafe you can see a close-up of the hub. I think it's one piece. -

Okay, so we agree it's a new male hub connector. Don't know about the flange. It needs to sit straight or it will touch the caliper. -

+1 Then where are the pins of the male hub connector? It's obvious this is a new male hub connector with pin holes instead of pins and an integrated disc brake. -

I think so too. Such a tool would indeed be nice. I'm also still hoping the new hub-half will come with an improved CV-joint, which can handle a little more angle than the existing version, but I fear I'm asking too much. I do still expect this model to be 4WD though. -

@Erik Leppen was asking if someone has seen functions being operated. The answer is: No. -

Both the negative vibe yesterday and the positive vibe today are based on photo's of the box alone. The front and the back side of the box show the whole car. The back side also shows some details of the engine, the new disc brake piece (most likely a new rotating half for the existing hub with axle holes, known from the CLAAS and the Porsche), seats / mid-console with a shifter and the dashboard / steering wheel. As the box seems to lack further images of the inside, there is speculation about whether or not there will be a gearbox inside. The rear side image also shows a spoiler that is most likely adjustable. Yes, both on the front side (front view) and on the back side (rear view) this appears to be the case. So watch out for side walk curbs when you're going to park this model . -

If it really doesn't have a gearbox, I might consider buying a copy . -

I agree. I actually think it's a pitty there are leaked images. But once they are on the internet, there is no stopping... -

"Even a donkey doesn't fall in the same hole twice." I think there will be no gearbox. The distinct feature will be the W16 . Okay, didn't know posting links was inappropriate. You missed a link in one of my posts, but I removed it myself. -

I think so too. If you use them for existing rims (using 3 2L pins), the offset will increase by at least half a stud, depending on the exact geometry of the new hubs. -

The static part, yes. The rotating half is new and integrated with the disc brake. And I hope it will have less slack. -

Yes, the static part is the same as in 42056, but the rotating part is new and integrated with the disc brake. -

I can't conclude differently than this being new hubs, or at least the rotating half of them -

It's what I was hoping for!!! The brakes seem to be integrated with the wheel hubs. Hopefully they'll have less slack than the exsisting wheel hubs. More accessible rear view image. -

I think that is mainly due to the panel's shadow thrown on the bionicle tooth. But I wouldn't want to claim there are no distortions in the corrected image.
