In the group panel of LDD you can define a group hierarchy representing your building steps. In my case this is most often the result of digitally reverse engineering my own designs. Take a look at this relatively simple example: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-5905/Didumos/compact-90-stepper/#bi and compare the steps in the photo sequence with the groups in the LXF-file. Building from such a 'stepped' LDD-file works as follows: First delete each group (depth-first) from top to bottom and then with Ctrl-Z (undo) restore each deleted group, step by step. You can select the parts in a group by clicking on the group in the group panel. When it's a big assembly I sometimes teporarily copy-paste the entire group to take a better look.

That would be great because the disc brakes would only cost half a stud offset. I hope so too. -
[MOD] Bublehead’s 8880

A video of all these functions would be nice. -

I suppose it should be 1 stud thick to fit whole pins, at least where the pinholes are located. -

I suppose the brake disc-piece has 6 pinholes to connect the rims to the wheel hubs. -
BuWizz or SBrick?
Didumos69 replied to Tarix819's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@kbalage, if I recall correctly it was also possible to combine BuWizz and SBrick by using BuWizz as a battery box. Maybe the new BuWizz app with customizable controls makes it more easy to simply turn on one of the channels of the BuWizz. It would combine the versatility of SBrick with the power of BuWizz. I opted for BuWizz for my 4WD RC Buggy and I don't regret it. Power was the most important to me for that model. -
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a try when I'm back home. The rear is slightly heavier than the front so it should make a difference.

Very nice! The smaller a set, the harder to come up with a c-model. The airplane is aesthetically better than the tug, but I like it all together. Btw, the instructions function of LDD is practically useless. You could also express the building steps in terms of groups in your LDD-file.

Congratulations @Marxpek! Your model stood out despite the postponed deadline. Have fun with the Bugattit!

Good idea! I'm actually on my way in the train witb my daughter for a long weekend at the sea. So I shouldn't be here. -

Okay, didn't notice that before, but it all makes sense . And with the number of posts and participants it seems very justified too. I rest my case. I'm probably quite alone in not being interested in any new set, maybe only the Bugatti. -

Am I alone in thinking that having so many discussion topics for upcoming sets - which are not even that significant - is a little overdone? And then we also have the 2018 Set discussion topic. @Jim, it is quite clear your interest lies in new sets, but is it reason to justify starting so many topics where you normally are quite strict in starting new topics? I understand there is no way back now, but I sure hope this is not going to be a recurring event every half year. -
It's perfectly okay this way, only when it gets more substantial we better not post them here while in progress. Like you said.

That's very cool @BusterHaus! I see a few issues, but I think if we continue this, we should discuss further via PM. It would be a pitty if incomplete BI start roaming the internet.

I tried both, but the front wheels lose traction (start slipping) because all the weight is on the rear wheels. And the rear motors can't push it up just by themselves.

I still had to do a slope test with the bodywork attached. It managed 65% (about 33 degrees) in fast mode and 85% (about 41 degrees) in ludicrous mode. I tried 100% (45 degrees), but that was a bridge too far. But an 85% slope for a 2kg model is not bad imo.

I updated the stepped (in terms of groups) LXF-file. Now only the front axles and rear suspension arms need to be broken down into steps.

Thanks @Erik Leppen for the exact sizes . This subscribes my observations. Funny thing is that in LDD the 5.5L axle matches the old one and in Stud.io - and probably LDraw - the 5.5L axle matches the new one. So my idea to obtain 11L by inserting the ring-side of two 5.5L axles into 2L of axle holes, turned out a disappointment...

You asked the same question in the MODs and Improvements thread. So, same answer here: If you want to stay close to the original and fix all issues, you could try the unofficial errata. You do need about 30 extra parts though. If you want the most complete package of community mods, you could walk the pimp up my Porsche path, but that would require significantly more parts.

I added some important notes in the OP for people that want to build this from the LXF-file. Btw, I'm working on a LXF-file with steps in terms of groups. After that I will be making photo sequence instructions too. The 5.5L axles used in the front wheel hubs should be the old version. These are slightly shorter and can be recognized by more sharp axle-ends. As far as I know, all black ones are old ones. See also this topic. To minimize wear, it is advisable to lubricate the turntables and the springs with silicon spray (don't use any other (petrol based) lubricants as they will react with ABS). Thanks for the suggestion @Permo! Thanks!

I was in doubt about that too for my 4WD buggy. This time I decided to make a separate MOC topic for presentation purposes only and eventually for sharing instructions. That way I didn't have to change the OP of the WIP topic so it will remain the way it evolved, an historic document of the making of... . But changing your WIP into MOC is okay too.
