Aw man. That doesn’t bode well for the set. Guess I’m not getting this one -

@Rudivdk See if you can hook up the winch to a gear that meshes with the rack. That way it’ll wind up as the gear rack moves up. -

YEET there’s pics! https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-technic-summer-2018-sets-revealed/ Also, it’s settled: The forklift does have dark blue pieces on it. -
No chance - the set looks too refined to be a B-model. B-models generally end up looking like an inexperienced MOCcer creation. Regarding the pricing, this set looks like it would be in a similar league as 42054 (less PF but larger + huge bucket). If I’m reading that price tag correctly then it says 139.99. If that’s in Euros then it’s pretty standard with what we’ve seen before - 139.99€ is roughly $220AUD. Add GST to that and you’re looking at $250AUD, which was the RRP in 42054 over here in Australia.

I think most AFOLs would want a longer train than two locos and a coach, so they'd buy another set to expand it anyway. It's not too much of a double edged sword
-
So what’s the bet here? Are we looking at yellow or keetorange? Also, I wish they’d give us a properly shaped pantograph like in the Horizon Express
-
Mad Eurostar vibes from the passenger train. I’m digging it, although I wonder what it would’ve looked like if the DBG and dark blue colours were reversed. Can anyone do a cheeky photoshop?
-
Uhhh what? No it doesn’t. It’s different in every way other than being a loco with two passenger cars.

Basic supply and demand my friend. They’re only being smart about it. EDIT: Wait you’re in support of it aren’t you? Yeet finally someone else :D -
I wonder what kind, and whether the supposed orange engine fanblade seen in the original leak has anything to do with it.

Yeah something tells me this isn’t an MK build, otherwise we’d see MKIV written on the side

On one hand slewing could very well be controlled from the chassis, but that would mean it would be faster going one way, since the source of the spinning axle would be rotating too.

I understand your point. I think 42054’s slack steering, 42055’s bad performance and 42056’s gearbox left a sour taste in my mouth. Thinking about it more I’m probably on the fence about dual mode steering - it would be nice, but only if it worked properly and without major slack, alongside the axles being driven. If there isn’t a way of doing it then I’d rather they didn’t. I don’t like the idea of putting in functions that only somewhat work, because that to me just seems sorta half-assed. I could also call sticking with standard functions half-assed, but we’re already getting driven steering for 42082, which is a big plus.

To the left of the H6 gearbox (behind in the photo) I see a red Bohrok eyepiece. It seems strange to put that there, so methinks it could have something to do with slewing the crane.

I don’t get why people want Claas steering modes in this. 42054 had massive slack and play in its steering.

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Bartybum replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
To be fair you can’t expect people to go digging through absolutely every designer interview. That’s not a very simple task to do, just so that you can post a comment on a thread with some new questions. I think those questions are really interesting and I’d love to know the answers eventually. -
@Cumulonimbus You see I really like the panels on the side. The sloped one gives it this modern downwards sweeping contour that I think suits a modern crane design really well. @Jim I want to bring 42009 back up BUT ONLY because this is super relevant to 42082 (if it’s not acceptable then by all means please delete this paragraph) By now I’m borderline beating a dead horse about the suspected lifting capacity, but I just noticed that from the close up of 42082 the gear ratio between the clutch gear and the winch appears to be the same as in 42009. This has me worried that we might actually not get good lifting capacity . Thoughts anyone?

Actually, thinking about it, the clutch gear is driven from the outside, then geared down even further, so it might actually be a really tight clutch mechanism.

Yeah look the odds of it being “prelim” are next to none. Adding a second extension to the boom is a huge change. What we see is what we’re gonna get, as has almost always been the case. Ah crap, there’s a clutch gear attached to the winch. Get ready for abysmal lifting capabilities...

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Bartybum replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nothing really pops into mind other than: 1. What was the most challenging part to design (both functional and aesthetic parts)? (Lego designers) 2. What was the most fun part to design? (Lego designers) 3. How did you get into the design industry? (both Lego and Bugatti designers) 4. What do you enjoy about your work? (both Lego & Bugatti designers) You could also ask how much input was there from the Bugatti designers for the Lego model, although I’m pretty sure the answer for that will be “heaps” As for specific questions, I’d like to know whether they tested the build with other colour combinations before settling on what we’re getting. -

“I was just upset about the website because I used to get a decent amount of replies per post and now I usually get one.” You pretty much contradicted yourself with two comments. From what I can see you reposted the topic to get more people to comment on it. Anyways, I’m curious to see what you’ll do with the build
