Not at all. I bought two of the Battle of Atlantis set, one of them at a discount, and got the third set as a gift. I don't usually buy many sets, and there wasn't a lot I was looking for at the time, so this was the same as buying a couple of different sets over a couple of months in my eyes.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
x105Black replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Can we get back to the posts about the parts that are available? -
I did something similar with the Battle of Atlantis set. Got 3 of them, and all of the pieces will be useful. I'd like to get at least 2 or 3 of this set as well, mostly for the thestrals.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I picked up a few of these last night at Target. Very impressed. Still have to get my hands on some Dragons, though. -
LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!
x105Black replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't much care for BB-8 either. I didn't mind the character in The Force Awakens, there was a bit of snark there (but I interpreted the flame as giving the finger). The Last Jedi has BB-8 playing the comic relief role of Jar Jar Binks or that dreadful droid factory sequence from Attack of the Clones. That said, this is a decent representation of said character. -
Well done! It's been a long road, hasn't it? I commend you on your completionism with this theme. There are still a few I'd like to get, I just have to take the opportunity to look around for them.

x105Black replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you for always providing such a fun and detaied review! I always look forward to it! -
Thanks for that playful display! It's a nice way to show off not only the new set, but also the minifigures. And good to know about the plate being attached to the box!

Nice work on those minifigures! It really shows the versatility of this series (and others). -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
x105Black replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
We can agree that LEGO has done a fantastic job. -
I find that my opinion on stickers varies depending on the part and the print. Some parts I want without the particular design for one reason or another, so I prefer it to be a sticker in those cases. Other times, I really like the design, so I would rather it be a print (since, in general, I do not apply stickers).

Thoughts? Opinions?

OK, well the positioning isn't exactly the same, but the style is similar. I've come to think of them all as having tramp stamps all over their faces. I guess a more apt comparison would be Mike Tyson:

I like the style of the larger dragon, but I prefer the more subdued colors of the smaller dragon. I wish Elves creatures didn't have tramp stamps.

Who's Your Favorite Film Composer and/or Score?
x105Black replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Those are a few of my favorites as well. Daft Punk is so good, and TRON: Legacy shows them reaching their peak (they're still at their peak now, actually). If you are interested in their music as score, check out Interstella 5555: The Story of the Secret Star System. That Vangelis score for Blade Runner is fantastic. He is another guy who just makes great music. Danny Elfman would probably be my favorite film composer. The Simpsons theme and Batman score are among his best work (and he won a Grammy for Batman). He is at his best when working with Tim Burton. His scores are a part of what makes these movies so memorable. For example, think of classics like Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow. But he has done so many more, he is a very prolific musician. And his music for The Nightmare Before Christmas is on another level. Mark Mothersbaugh is underrated. He has made fantastic music for television, film, and video games, and was the leader of Devo (of Whip It fame). I particularly like his score for Happy Gilmore, and all of his work with Wes Anderson on great films like Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Continuing a discussion relating to Studio Ghibli, I was particularly enamored with Joe Hisaishi's score for The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, which was a wonderful, beautiful film. He is the same composer for the fantastic Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and other Ghibli films, as well as the pre-Ghibli Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. My favorite track from The Tale of the Princess Kaguya would be The Procession of Celestial Beings. I'm also a big fan of the films of René Laloux. The soundtrack to La Planète Sauvage (or Fantastic Planet in English) by Alain Goraguer is a great one. Many criticize the repetition, but I like the dark mood it creates. My favorite from that film would have to be Le Bracelet. I'd also like to mention Giorgio Moroder's Academy Award and Golden Globe winning score for Midnight Express. The song Chase is a great example of his music, and he has had a fantastic and prolific career. -

Ideas sets tend to have additional money put into the packaging, including the box and booklet. I don't believe that the Rhino Face-Off set has the number of printed parts included in the TRON set, either. Both of those are surely factors.

Good analysis of these stale turds. I have to go back and re-watch them myself at some point, if only to appreciate the good Batman movies more. Also, I have not watched BvS either. Don't really plan on it, but maybe someday. Fight Club was fantastic, and got me to read other novels by the same author. Chuck Palahniuk is a gifted writer, and I suggest picking up some of his other early novels to anyone interested in a good read. I particularly enjoyed Diary. I've been interested in seeing Downsizing, so I'll take your advice and stay away from the promotional materials until I see it. The concept kind of reminds me of something out of a Vonnegut book called Slapstick, which I would also recommend to anyone here. Shape of Water is a movie I've been very interested in seeing, and the Oscar buzz only increased that. I look forward to finally seeing it.

I would have cared if one of those was a Castle minifigure. But seriously, it's a cool set. I really just want the blue Space guy.
