My point was just that the early rumors we had were for a Castle theme. I agree with your point that this is not a Castle theme, or at least it doesn't feel that way to me right now. After pictures are revealed I may change my tune. I'm mostly going off of the logo design and the Robo-Horse, neither of which instill me with that Castle feeling. TLG may think of Nexo Knights as a Castle theme, though, which would explain why there was a rumor of a Castle theme in 2016. And for all we know it will be very much like a Castle theme, and the Robo-Horse could be less Robo than it seems. I'm expecting something like this, though: That doesn't really feel like Castle to me. That's science fiction. Ninja (1998-2000) was a sub theme of Castle, but we don't think of Ninjago as a Castle sub theme. That's because there are enough differences to disqualify it. Ninjago is then considered an Action theme. Chima is also considered an Action theme. Most of the characters in Chima carry swords and other such weapons and wear armor, like knights, but we don't think of it as a Castle sub theme. Ninjago and Chima also have television shows, and rumor has it Nexo Knights will as well. Isn't Nexo Knights a Chima replacement? Isn't it meant to be in the same category as Chima and Ninjago? So far, we don't know much at all. However, going on what we do know, it seems like we are getting a new Action theme in 2016 that has some things in common with Castle, but we're not really getting a Castle theme or sub theme (even if some may consider it as such because it has knights). This also feels far less Castle-like than KK2 or Fantasy Era. While those themes be based on fantasy or flashy jellybeans rather than strictly historical, they still both felt like they were set in a medieval-type setting. Nexo Knights, from what we know so far, feels to me like it is set in the future. The main reason I worry about the semantics is that if this is indeed considered a Castle theme, and it turns out to be a futuristic He-Man style theme, then we might be waiting longer for a real Castle theme to come out. This is expected to run for 3 years, until 2019? That would mean no real Castle theme from 2013-2019. That's more than 5 years, which is very disappointing. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. I hope the futuristic sounding elements will be downplayed and that it will feel like a real Castle theme. If so, I will eat crow. A few pictures would go a long way towards clearing up this confusion.

The Temple of Airjitzu is a great set with many really cool features. If it was Castle themed, I would probably already have it. As for Nexo Knights, I was thinking the same thing. I suspect the Robo-Horse will be a brick-built vehicle set. If that's true, it may be a horrendous set, but it could be built out of grey, black, or pearl grey pieces, which could be very useful. If that's the case, many AFOLs may end up buying it for the parts. Of course, TLG will likely see the high sales figures and believe that we all thought it was a great set.

Valid point. I'm certainly not happy about what I've heard of Nexo Knights. As long as it's still being considered 2016's Castle Theme, it does not sound promising at all. I am expecting the worst at this point, but always hoping for the best outcome.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Gargoyle's wings would be great for a draconic race in different colors. I'd say dark green or black would both look awesome. -
I don't think they can really tell who is buying a particular set, but I do know that many AFOLs spend a lot of money on LEGO, more than most children could afford without rich parents. There are likely a whole lot more KFOLs than AFOLs though. Most kids like LEGO, and most adults that were into LEGO as kids never emerge from their Dark Age. I think that Shib had it right, LEGO's target market is children. They want to be a kids toy company. Having said that, not all kids are into flashy colorful stuff. Some kids like the deeper elements. When I was a kid, I was really into classic Castle, and would have liked it more with darker colors.

Thanks! I love your username, by the way. Big fan!

Interesting thread! I noticed I suddenly had a title, so I searched to find out how that happened. I can only guess who gave the the title based on latest visitors to my profile. I like the title, so thanks for that, although I fear it sounds a bit pompous. I have an awesome avatar - I'm going to guess Hinckley gave me this title. My avatar is a picture of the x105 visor in black, and I do think it's awesome.

Medieval Market Village is great, but if it was done in the scale and complexity of the Modular Buildings, it could be so much better. I agree, though, that it's a highly unlikely prospect.

Thank you for the kind greetings! Already enjoying my time here.

There absolutely would be, and I would be at the front of the line! This is what I've been hoping to see ever since I saw the first Creator Expert Modular Building.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion

The local LEGO Store here said that they only got a few cases, so they can't put them out early. I suppose some stores must have gotten more. I found a few more at another Walgreens though, and found some LEGO Movie packs at a Target. -

Lego themes that we would like to happen

Another thing I'd love to see would be a line of Creator Expert Modular buildings in Medieval Europe styles. Picture something like the Parisian Restaurant, Detective's Office, or Pet Shop, but done up as a medieval bakery, a butcher shop, a blacksmith's, or even a wizard's study. Basically a huge modular version of the Medieval Market Village. I've been thinking of just parting out the sets in more medieval color schemes to do it myself, and I still might, but it would just be recolored versions of their sets. I'd love to see these done as completely new, official sets.- 451 replies

There are some really interesting items in here! I love those black and transparent ghosts in particular! My rarest / oldest piece is probably my favorite. It's an x105 visor in black. I got it last year as a gift from my girlfriend, it's so awesome. My brother had the same piece in light grey ever since he traded a couple of minifigures for it in the mid 80's (along with the red shield with white cross and corresponding armor), and I've wanted one in black ever since. So happy to have one!

I felt that the 2013 Castle sets were lacking, but I still enjoyed them. It had been a while since I had collected any Castle, so it was a great place to start. As for the brightly colored soldiers, I switched out the red arms on my dragon knights with dark red, and they look so much better.

Lots of varying opinions in here! I prefer Black and Dark Grey. I also love the Dark Red. Aside from that, I've got a soft spot for Maersk Blue and Dark Turquoise lately.

Lego themes that we would like to happen

I'd love to see a reboot of Castle. Primarily, I want Forestmen and Wolfpack rebooted, as the Lions and Dragons have been overdone. Make the Falcons the main knight faction. I'd also love to see Legend of Zelda, Dragonlance, or Adventure Time. As for Lord of the Rings, someone mentioned the Witch King on Fellbeast versus Eowyn. I would love this set, with a dragon much like Smaug. Also, Gondor.- 451 replies

Distinct visors were a part of KKII, and the molds themselves were great, albeit bulky. I just didn't like them being color coded in such bright colors. It would be nice to see visor molds in metallic colors, like Sir Kentis & Sir Adric, arguably among the better looking minifigures from KKII.
-
I don't mind color coded knights, but there is a good and bad way of doing this. The bad way would be the jellybean way. Bright, flashy colors everywhere. The good way would be to use subtle colors, like dark red, dark blue, dark green, etc. I have a bad feeling this is going to be bright and flashy, with neon trans colors everywhere. A variety of heraldry would be great, though. That was something I liked in KKII. And finally, the armor, helmets, and weapons should all be in metallic colors, like real armor. The multi-colored armor was something that I didn't like from KKII.

Personally, I was really excited when I first heard about new Castle in 2016. Now it doesn't really seem like it will be Castle enough, and I'm a bit disappointed. It sounds like there is too much technology. I'm still hoping that there will be great, useful pieces and minifigures in great, useful colors. I expect a lot of trans, and I expect them to re-use the Chima armor, but that's because I expect the worst at this point. I wonder when a real Castle theme will be back on shelves.

I have the same regret as most others here, my Dark Ages. Looking back, I entered the Dark Ages at a time that was appropriate to my interests, the late 90's. There weren't that many sets at that time that piqued my interest. I didn't emerge from them, however, until the last couple of years. I wish I had emerged sooner, gotten some Collectible Minifigures when they were still in stores, and gotten a few of the licensed sets. My other regret is leaving some of my LEGO behind when I moved, as it was considered abandoned and given to others. It is now lost forever.

It was a combination of a few factors. First, my brother bought me the Ninja Turtles "Kraang Lab Escape" set for my birthday a couple of years ago. Then, I saw the LEGO Movie. And finally, after finding some of my old LEGO and building the most terrible little tower, my girlfriend informed me that she had never had a proper LEGO set of her own. I promptly bought her one, and our collections have continued to snowball from there.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I picked up a few from this series at a local Target a couple of weeks back after reading about others doing the same in this thread. I also went to several other Target locations multiple times over the last couple of weeks, along with a couple of Toys R Us locations, but was unable to find anything. I even asked around using the DCPI provided here. One Target said that they had them, but were unable to bring them out until September 1st. My favorite is the Gargoyle. He looks great with his own legs, but I modified one with normal legs and I think it is fantastic. I also really like the Fly Monster and Square Foot. The claw on the Fly Monster is awesome, so I had to get 2, but I wish there was better printing on Square Foot. At first, I didn't like the Plant Monster, but have since been able to appreciate its usefulness as an actual plant. I have replaced the head with one that is dark pink, and it looks great. I also have a Skeleton Guy and a Wacky Witch, which I like, and a Tiger Woman and Spectre that I am very fond of. I'm still considering the Wolf Guy. My least favorites are the Monster Rocker, Monster Scientist, and Spider Lady. I'm also not a big fan of the Banshee, the Zombie Businessman, the Zombie Cheerleader, or the Zombie Pirate. I'm just not a fan of zombies in general, but I might pick up the pirate for the hat. -
Hello there, My 'name' is x105Black. I am so named because this is my favorite LEGO part. I have been a fan of LEGO since the early 80's, with a bit of a Dark Age through the late 90's and early 00's. I am primarily a fan of historic themes like Castle and Pirates, but I also dabble in others, particularly licensed themes like Star Wars, Hobbit / Lord of the Rings, and Superhero themes. I am also a fan of the Collectible Minifigures. I am originally from Canada, but now live in the United States. I have been lurking around these forums for quite some time, but only recently decided to join and post. I'm happy to be here, as this seems to be a great community full of like-minded individuals. Thanks for the opportunity to share a little about myself. I look forward to getting to know more about the denizens of Eurobricks in the future. -- x105Black
