  1. I read this entire thread, and it's an interesting discussion. Lots of people with very reasonable complaints (either before or after seeing the movie), and a few supporters (with one repetitive fanboy) with completely valid reviews of their own. I was a fan of Ghostbusters, and equally of Ghostbusters 2. Not a huge fan, but I definitely enjoyed the films, cartoon, and action figures. When I first heard that they were finally making a new Ghostbusters movie, I figured I'd enjoy it. Unfortunately, everything I've heard since has convinced me not to see it. I'm glad it has found an audience. I'm also glad that the audience it has found is small.
  2. I know, right! I didn't get Homer, so you can guess what that means. I do have Mickey, but only as an iconic character for collectible reasons. Of the Batmen I have, the best one was the one that came with the armor, which is a very useful part for me.
  3. I'm hoping for more location based sets.
  4. Fair enough. I'd say that this is a bit of a step above anecdotal, as it covers a wide range of locations.
  5. I think that's what's generally assumed. Whenever the Disney Castle emerges, the Disney CMF series should resurface with it. Hopefully, these ones stay around as well. This is the worst handling of CMF release dates.
  6. But how long will that sub-theme last? The sea monsters could followup directly afterwards. It's too bad for Pirates fans, though, that Ninjago air pirates and Nexo Knights sea monster pirates aren't really viable within the Pirates theme.
  7. I can say the same for my area, but I've seen others saying the opposite. Anecdotal evidence like this is never really worth too much.
  8. I know, it feels like it's been going on for much longer than that...
  9. There are only 3 characters involved in the Duel of the Fates, so 3 minifigures should be adequate.
  10. Classic Space is #1, easily. Futuron fits as an extension of this. There's really nothing to say about it, it was just a very well done theme. Blacktron was awesome. Blacktron II was less awesome, both in minifigure and build. I prefer the black & yellow. Spyrius. Interesting nobody has mentioned it yet. I loved the Spyrius Droid, and the color scheme of the sets looked great (even if I didn't like the trans-blue windshields). Ice Planet was interesting when it came out, but I don't like it as much in hindsight. The trans-orange parts made sense in context. I see NEXO Knights as a revisiting of the aesthetic of Ice Planet and Space themes in general.
  11. This is a really nice take on a great set - one of my favorite Pirates sets. I love the faithfully reproduced details, from the re-creation of the baseplate to the crow's nest. Then the additions are great as well. The pirate crew, and the wooden construction fit very nicely, as does the wildlife. A couple of chickens and seagulls, a crab, a turtle, some fishies, and some clam shells really bring life to the island. And I love that classic monkey. Nice work!
  12. Fair enough, I haven't really been looking at the trailers. Perhaps, but that also makes licensed series more expensive to collect. With a normal series, there will usually be at least 2 or 3 that I like all parts from. There will usually be at least a couple more that I like a good few parts from. Then there are a few (Farmer, Animal Control, Wildlife Photographer, Dog Show Winner) that only have 1 part I want (in those cases it is an animal, which makes it more worthwhile) With a licensed series, when buying up one character for his legs, another for her hair, and another for dual molded arms, there is a lot of waste. I do like that the parts usually hit the aftermarket. With Disney, I bought a Donald tail piece, several Genie ponytail feathers, and extra hats / hair from BrickLink. But the same can be said for normal series, as I have purchased several Roman feather plumes, Bear shields, and other accessories. So, as far as buying them myself, I find the normal series are better because I get to buy more complete minifigures that matter to me. But with licensed series, I don't usually get many minifigures, but I end up with buying the parts later. And, when I do buy licensed minifigures, it is usually because I like the character. The minifigure will likely not make it into my normal collection (which is mostly Castle themed) because they don't fit in, whereas 2 or 3 minifigures from a normal series will make it into my normal collection, often with duplicates and customized variants.
  13. That doesn't say anything about Nexo Knights because they didn't release until January 2016. It would be interesting to see the 2016 Report.
  14. Make it 3. Thrawn is one of a very small number of EU characters I'd be happy to see return, and getting him in a small set would be wonderful.
  15. I'm not big on the prequels, but I'd be in support of a Geonosis arena featuring molded creatures (can't stand brick-built). I'd also love to see some Nightsisters.
  16. As someone who doesn't really collect Space sets, I'm all for a revival of Classic Space.
  17. Back to the Future would make a great theme. Star Trek would be nice, but they've just produced MegaBloks sets. It will be a while before LEGO gets the license, if at all.
  18. I agree that the grid is better looking than the scenery, but I don't think that LEGO needs to reject all LDD projects with the scenery.
  19. You finally got around to taking some photos! Nice! As I've said before, I love this build. I think you did a great job on the spires, and on the bottled city. Great stuff, over all. Having seen it in person, I'd say the pictures here don't really do it justice (the build as a whole). The bottled city pictures look excellent. I can't wait to see some more progress on this. Keep it up!
  20. As far as I know, only the Disney licensed CMF has been fleshies. Simpsons and LEGO Movie were all yellow skinned. LEGO Batman Movie and Ninjago Movie are both likely to be yellow as well. But I do see the point. Most licenses use fleshies, so more licensed minifigure themes means more fleshies.
  21. That would be fantastic. I would love to see both of those themes.
  22. Anyways, getting back on topic... I like the sets, overall. Krennic's Shuttle is particularly nice. Also, the minifigures look good, and I'll probably be buying them on BrickLink (as long as the prices aren't stupidly inflated).
  23. Elves is definitely the closest thing to Castle that is currently available, just as Nexo Knights is the closest thing to Space. But I agree that factions, armor, weapons, heraldry, and minifigures (not minidolls) are really important for Castle fans. We haven't had a Castle theme since 2013, and the CMF series provide very little over the years (next year will be particularly bad with only 1 normal series). I've considered buying Elves sets as well, but I can't get past the minidolls. A big negative. I wouldn't have a problem if they also came with minifigures, but the lack of those acts as another negative. It's really disheartening knowing that the 2 themes that are closest to Castle, that appeal nicely to certain groups, have no real content to offer to Castle fans aside from a few interesting new pieces.
  24. I agree. I think that the quality of minifigures and builds is greater now, and anything from 2 decades ago will pale in comparison. However, I also think that the ideas that they were using back then were far better than what they are going on now. Forestmen is a better idea for a theme than Elves. Wolfpack is a better idea for a theme than Nexo Knights. That's where the real difference lies. If they could redo those themes with modern minifigures and builds, they would be better than anything currently offered.
  25. Just about everything in the last few posts should not be considered viable for LEGO Ideas.
